Avatar n tn I have nodules in the goiters on my thyroid. I feel a pressure at the base of my neck and feel like I have a slight lump in my throat. I have hypothyroidism but only require 25mcg of Levothroid. My dad died of c-cell derived medullary carcinoma. Should I have a biopsy?
Avatar n tn Hi he should get it checked out. i noticed a small lump in neck 2 years ago in april during pregnancy. No testing were done either than a thyroid test which was neg. it went away during the end of pregnancy and a year later it came back. ultrasound showed enlarged node, ct scan showed 3.4 cm enalrged 3 tiny ones around thyroid and one big one behind chest wall 10.cm prognosis: hodgkins or malignant lymphoma. Biopsy will be performed on June 10th to rule out mailgnancy.
5565856 tn?1370010722 My Thyroid levels have been perfect. I noticed a lump in my throat about ten months ago now. I never said anything in fear that it was always there and I would seem crazy. A Doc finally found it and recommended I get an ultra sound done, which was last month. The U/s showed that it was 3.67 CM on the right side and it was a hard nodule. There were two others, but they just want a biopsy of the big one. I go for that on Tuesday.
Avatar n tn I have had a painless lump in my neck for several years. It is on the left side in the same area where my lymph nodes typically swell up when I have a cold. It is behind the upper part of my jaw, below my ear. It is hard, painless (unless I press it rather hard), immovable and about an inch in size. I have had two doctors who have been aware of it, but dismissed it. The first one put me on antibiotics to make it go down, but they did not do anything.
Avatar n tn Only a biopsy will be able to tell the exact nature of the lump. In biopsy, a small sample of the tissue is taken and examined under a microscope. Please do not delay it further. I hope that helped. Please do keep me posted. Kind Regards.
Avatar n tn For the first several hours after the biopsy, it appeared that the lump on the surface of the neck had in fact disappeared. This morning, however, the lump is back - could it have refilled itself with fluid that quickly? We're very anxious about the results, which we hope to get at the end of the week. In the meantime, I find myself doing a lot of research about what it could be. Does the presence of fluid and the initial disappearance of the mass indicate a benign issue?
Avatar f tn I've had a painless lump on my neck for the past 5 and a half weeks. I had an ultrasound scan, and the provisional conclusion was that it is a branchial cleft cyst. However, I also had a blood test and my GP just rang me today and said there is an abnormality in my blood test results. My patient notes say: "Immunofixation shows the presence of an IgM kappa monoclonal band". Is this of extreme concern?
Avatar f tn Sounds like me. I never noticed the lump in my neck until after I had my baby and we both were pretty sick 3 mos later with a cold. I just thought it was a swollen gland from that and it took me a year to get it checked out. I have a multi-nodule cyst that was 7cm in Jan09 until the ENT drained it and biopsied it. But the goiter grew back in just a few weeks and now I am waiting for an app. with an Endocrinologist. I did the ultrasound and tests came back normal for thyroid.
Avatar f tn My 17 yr old daughter felt a lump on side of neck. Doctor measured it at 1.4cm and ordered an ultrasound. It is hard and rubbery and does not hurt. Ultrasound results state it has grown to 2.6cm x 1.3cm (in 1 month) and has no fatty hilum. Performed at a level 5 in the area of palpable abnormality. Mild increase in vascularity. good Has anyone else had a similar case and what was it? Thank you, in advance, for any replies.
Avatar f tn I have a lump on my adams apple- right in the cup of the neck. It was tender the other day it was red and irritated and a co-worker noticed it is why I know of it but now it is noticeable. Doesn't hurt when I swallow but you can see it going up and down. It was softer the other day but now seem firm now. Any clue what it could be?
Avatar f tn hi I have a lump on my neck and a low absolute Lymphocytes count my dr sent me for a cat scan today can u explain to me why she sent me for a cat scan and not a biopsy?
Avatar f tn Since he was the age of 11 months I have noticed a lump on the left side of his neck. It appears to be a swollen lymph node and is mobile. I have brought it to the attention of our family doctor, a walk-in clinic doctor and his pediatrician and they all have only ran a CBC (blood test) and shrugged it off. His results of the test came back within normal range all three times. The mass has not changed in size, but is still there. His doctors don't seem concerned, but as a mom I am.
Avatar n tn They ordered a CT scan of my neck and left clavicle. Nothing was mentioned in the report about the lump!! They only talked about slightly swollen nodes in my neck. The whole reason the scanned my clavicle in the first place was to look at the lump but nothing was said about it... my primary doctor just brushed it off and didn't do anything further. Meanwhile I moved to another state so had to get a new doctor. He did care and did more tests, all normal.
Avatar f tn I had a lump in my right breast, then I went to a surgeon he felt the lump and drained some fluids from the lump, then told me he was going to remove it that day which was in mar 2010 now its may 2010 and the same lump is back and in the same spot. the only thing the surgeon said was the biopsy did not show cancer. so my question is how could this return again and the same spot. I am 35 years old.
Avatar f tn 6 years ago I had a biopsy, and ultrasound and an MRI scan following finding a lump at the front of my neck in my thyroid. All scans showed nothing and the biopsy was clear. I was discharged following a second opinion consultation. I went to the GP with a small lump at the top of my throat. I was sent for an ultrasound today the doctor wasn't really concerned by the very small lump saying it was a lymph node but said my thyroid was quite enlarged and mottled in appearance.
Avatar n tn The most common cause of swollen glands or lymph nodes is infection. This may include infection in the head such as in the ear, tonsils, gums or teeth and even the skin in these parts or other conditions such as autoimmune conditions and even malignancy. Pain medications may help provide relief. However, If it persists, diagnostic tests such as blood tests and direct physical examination may need to be done. Antibiotics may be indicated for bacterial infections.
Avatar m tn About 5 days ago I noticed a small bean shaped lump on the side of my neck (not between the jagular and sternocelidomastoid muslce), but rather on the sternocleidomastoid muscle itself (I think). I consider myself a bit of a hypochondriac so naturally internet search will reveal the worst. All it takes is 1 negative to throw me off balance completely. I went to my GP and he said I might have lymphedema and sent me off to do a ultrasound of the neck followed by FNA.
Avatar n tn I had ductal carcinoma in situ and invasive ductal carcinoma. It DID hurt for years! My mammogram finally showed a change this year when it became invasive. The area of spiculation was 2 cm and assumed to be benign calcifications for ten Years! Get a second , third or fourth opinion if needed and get a biopsy.
Avatar f tn I may be wrong here but it seems your vet hasn't really investigated this lump fully. A needle biopsy was done obviously. What were the results of testing the biopsy? Were cancer cells found? Teeth -were they checked properly? What else did the vet say or recommend about the lump and what to do next?
Avatar n tn They both revealed that I have several abnormal lymph nodes in the neck and supra-clavicle but that the nodes although abnormal because they are a little bigger (.5 of an inch) and the amount of them, they suggested to continue to monitor the situation. I am feeling a little silly to go back about the lump on my sacrum since they were not too concern about the MRI and CT-Scan but nevertheless it is still bothering be. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you all for your help!
