Common Questions and Answers about Lump in hamstring

lump

Avatar n tn I have been left with a large lump on my leg which i was told was my hamstring that had collapsed. It is really ugly and embarrasing. Is there any surgery i can have to correct this?
Avatar f tn I am mostly worried about the healing of my pelvis and hamstring. The massive bruise from my hamstring is now almost gone, but the lump of severed tissue is still there, it still hurts to walk...my pelvis still kills me, esp after a day of walking or at night its almost unbearable. I feel like I should be havine some kind of physio or rehab before heaing so long?
Avatar f tn in August of 2005, I had a severe hamstring group tear, that was never addressed. The tear was about 2 inches above my right knee, rear of thigh. Immediately after the injury, I had the sensation of "sitting on a lump". Lumpy area is high in rear right thigh, going into groin area. I have been sitting on this "mass" for all this time. 3 mri's, 1 ct scan, and 2 xrays. They can't see a thing, but I still have involuntary muscle spasms of the hamsting...
Avatar f tn I have been doing squats and dead lifts at least once a week with about 135 lbs. with NO PAIN in the knee what so ever. Keep in mind I use a sports brace to prevent injury. I also noticed today that I have a pea sized lump under the skin, right above the surgical scar. I am very worried. Please help me!
Avatar m tn Finally I'm seeking an answer. I am a 46 yr old male, and I discovered a lump on the back of my right leg around the age of 32 (YES that long). Located above my hamstring, just below my butt cheek. Soft, not painful. Interestingly though, I have noticed that it reduces in size when I fast. And can become larger and slightly tender after eating certain foods! Wow, I know, right!? What the heck is this??????? SOMEONE SOMEWHERE knows what this is, or has experienced this. I'm tired of it.
Avatar m tn So I've got this very sharp pain in the middle of my buttock that makes sitting quite uncomfortable, and I'm not sure what to make of it. The sports medicine doc suggested it could be referred pain from my recently diagnosed (mild) degenerative disc disease, or a case of piriformis syndrome. The curious thing is that it doesn't completely match the sciatica description -- no pain running down my leg -- and it seems to be fairly specific to one spot, made worse when I press on it.
Avatar n tn My advice to anyone with a lump in that area is to go to the docs straight away. Once an abcess forms, there is no point taking antibiotics as the wall of the abcess doesnt allow them in. But if you start taking them before it fully forms you have a better chance of them working. if nothing works and the pain is getting worse, take a trip to A&E and get it checked out properly. I was admitted within half an hour which is unusual for my local A&E!!!
Avatar n tn It had been going on for about two days in the back of my right leg. Sometimes it happens in my hamstring and other times it happens in my calf and runs to the heel of my foot. I am concerned, but reading about all these people who have had this same mystery warm leg deal, has caused me to lesson my stress level about it. I do plan on getting it checked out. A doctor of mine back in Florida said to get a "Blood Chemistry Test" done to check for any buildup in the arteries.
Avatar n tn I wake every morning with horrible pain in lower back (kidney area) that radiates to the front of stomach (rib area). I have had battery of tests and found nothing. I am only able to sleep 5-6 hours before pain wakes me, also unable to take a deep breath until I get out of bed (very painful just to roll over), once I stand and get out of bed the pain almost immediately starts to ease. After about 20 minutes of walking around and after first morning void, pain disappears for remainder of day.
Avatar n tn I have tried to find info on this and sciatica seems to fit the bill more than anything, but everyone says that starts in the thigh and I don't have pain in my thigh. It is quick, severe, and feels like someone is shocking me. I would guess that a shocking pain would be associated with a nerve being pinched. Let me know if you find out anything else.
Avatar n tn I have muscle spasm in or around the ribs on both sides (in the front under the breast and sometimes in the back at the same horizontal position), it feels like a ball rolling, in that it switches sides. It occurs even at night during sleep, painful enough to wake me. I only know that when I relax and stretch (the side where the knot is) using several positions I have to wait till it goes away, in many cases to have it return in other places described above.
Avatar f tn You may not have been sick but local infections like dandruff or a dermatitis too can cause a lymph node to swell and be tender. Watch the lump. Do not touch everyday but once in 10-15 days. If the lump increases in size, becomes painful, changes color, bleeds, changes shape or consistency or more similar lumps appear then consult a doctor. Worrying too much regarding this could be causing the headaches and eye strain. Your stiff back and hop and knee pain may not be related.
Avatar f tn I am not sure if I am in the right area for my question.. but. I have a small lump on the left side of my breast (not painful) just felt it (size if a 1/2 dime) about 3 months old rolls. I also have the same scenario in my hamstring leg area (not painful) about a year old (size of a dime) rolls. Plus one on the top of my head (this is sensitive and painful sometimes) had it for 13 years (size of 1/2 quarter) does not move. Addtionally...

8964186 tn?1436113199 They thought heart related did cath nothing.. I have also noticed slight muscle twitching on right calf, right hamstring and left hamstring, slight numbness or riggt calf comes and goes, facial itching at night especially around nose, now I have lump sensation on throat again like something is stuck....I find myself clearing my throat alot.
Avatar n tn Usually starts after 15 minutes of driving and the pain or more of an ache moves to my hamstring and down to my shin. My hamstring feels like it needs to be stretched real bad, but my left testicle just aches. Since cancer was first of my mind, checked for symptoms and noticed a small lump on my testicle and it is painful to the touch. This I've been told is not a symptom of cancer (I hope). Research shows this could be spermatocele (spelling).

Avatar m tn From your description it looks you had a more serious injury than you previously thought. A strain in the quadriceps is not a normal injury, you need to ***** where is this strain, is it in the top closer to the psoas or closer to the knee. A quadriceps strain is a tear in one of the quadriceps muscles at the front of the thigh. It can range from a mild discomfort to a full blown tear of most of the muscle.
Avatar f tn On the occurrence that it did give out, it would sometimes cause me tremendous pain in which I was either frozen in pain and brought to tears or I immediately jolted in pain and simply stood in place until I regained the composure to continue what I was doing. At night it would sometimes spasm as I was drifting off to sleep and the sudden jolt would cause me to fully awaken in pain.
Avatar n tn the lump that im so worried about is not exactly on the testicle its self its in the scrotum, im not sure if its me mistaking the tubes as a lump is it possible be to a lump on the tube ? im realy in two minds wether or not its me just been paranoid, i mean the pain i can live with its just it occurs all the time and realy does disturb me by keeping this 'what if theres a problem' in my mind, will the urologist think im wasting there time if i go and they cant feel nothing wrong at all?
Avatar f tn I've also been having pes tendinitis and seriously tight hamstrings (biceps femoris) that feels as if there is an adhesion or deep bruise near the back of the knee (inferior portion of the biceps femoris). If I palpate it, it is painful and there is a lump that feels like a muscle knot.
537497 tn?1292556656 If you had a blood clot you would have extreme pain in the area, swelling, gradual onset of pain, redness, warmth to the touch, worsening leg pain when bending the foot, leg cramps especially at night, bluish or whitish discoloration of skin. Anxiety is just awful and I know exactly what you are going thru! I am reading a book that I purchased very cheap on Ebay called Anxiety & Panic Attacks by Robert Handley with Pauline Neff...you should get it if you can. It is really helping me!
Avatar f tn I was having muscle twitches all over my left leg at this point and at the bottom and top of my foot non-stop. Also having a lot of muscle aches in my left hamstring and I was having tightness in my left calf (which I have experienced for awhile). I told the new neuro who was taking the place of my original one (who was on vacation).
Avatar n tn I have a lump in the middle of my hamstring and can walk without a limp with compression on my leg. Without the compression type shorts, I tend to limp to avoid the pain. Now were off the where I should have gone in the first place. I have an appointment to see the Sports Medical Doctors on Monday to evaluate the situation. My biggest concern is if in fact I did tear the hammy it was masked with the back problems.
Avatar n tn (coldness, numbing sensation, color change??) Pain in the calf is usually the first sign of a serious blood clot, (many blood clots form in this area) but that doesnt nessecarily mean it is a clot or it isnt, theres no way to know without further testing. I know it may not seem financially smart right now to see a doctor, but just having a blood clot period is potentially life threatning, let alone once it causes one of the problems i stated above..
5792451 tn?1390938290 All we're doing is treating the symptom. Today's pain is in my neck. There's a lump deep in the muscle at the base of my skull, along the upper vertebrae. Yesterday it was very sensitive to pressure, not quite so bad today. I've had many of these lumps get sensitive to pressure, not long after that point they are gone.
Avatar n tn Acquired a lump in my throat that comes and goes as well as difficulty breathing and sometimes a choking sensation. Lack of sleep and jolting myself awake doesn't help with my weakness either. There are many other symptoms that I have which I wonder if I am bringing on myself or if my body is trying to tell me something. I have had 1 normal Emg, and am awaiting a visit in late August with an endo (gland) Dr.
Avatar n tn I believe i have experienced some itching in the urethra but never really payed attention to it because it was never to severe. There has been no discharge or bleeding however. Would any sort of bump or lump in the urethra be a sure indication of genital warts. I'm pretty sure they have been there for almost 2 weeks?
10947 tn?1281407852 hey this is rob in ct. Just wanted to know if a rod in your tib can cause alot of pain 4 years after being put in. My leg is in loads of pain when I walk any distance.2 MD's have said the bone looks well healed. But oh the pain. Its horrible. Does anyone think having the rod removed might help.mY DOCTOR said its a 50/50 chance of improvement. Really I am beginning to think cutting the thing off is the answer.
763858 tn?1234815337 BTW...I haven't listed my many symptoms in this forum in 4 yrs...& my "symptoms list" has grown quite extensively.
