Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 20 year old male. I have had a hard lump behind my right ear for years least 4 or 5. It feels like part of my skull but it is not on the left side of my head so i know that it's not. I asked my doctor about it when i was younger and he said it was a swollen lymph node and should go away at some point. It never did, however, it also never caused me any discomfort so i never got it looked at again.
Avatar n tn Lump on head right behind ear ?! I foolishly fell asleep with some studs in my ears and slept most of the night on my right side. In the morning I woke up to find a hard lump right behind my ear where the stud must have stuck in from lying on my side. The lump doesnt hurt unless I press it and i then feel an ache like a bruise, at first the lump was quite red, this redness has gone down now however but the lump is still there. Any advice?
Avatar n tn That could explain the intermittent nature of the lump behind your ear. Though I do suggest consult with your doctor for proper evaluation. It is very hard to tell what exactly you are having without the benefit of a good physical examination. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My suggestion, SWITCH DOCTORS, and keep doing that until you find the one who WILL LISTEN. YOU are your best advocate when it comes to your body and your health. Do not EVER let a doctor's lack of interest in your health concerns dictate that it's simply not important enough an issue to address. If YOU ARE CONCERNED ABOUT IT, find a doctor who cares enough to acknowledge that! Warmest Regards.
Avatar n tn Hi, How is your mother? What other symptoms are present? Were there initial diagnostic tests done? I understand your concern regarding this. Enlarged lymph nodes may be attributed to a variety of issues such as infection, autoimmune diseases as well as possible malignancy.
Avatar n tn 3 days and i have very swollen glads and lumps behind my ears and at the back of my head which are sore to touch. Any ideas what it could be??
Avatar n tn Hi, 32 year old married male here. Non-smoking, social drinker. I have a lump behind my right ear in the postauricular area around 1 cm across, more flat than raised, and most prounounced when I turn my head to the left. It's not painful, not moveable, and when I hold my finger to it I can feel my pulse. I first noticed it around 11 months ago when I had a very itchy, red rash covering my ears, and there has been no discernable change in size or shape since then.
Avatar m tn Hi. The lumps behind your father’s ear could be several enlarged lymph nodes. This can be caused by an infection (acute or chronic infection) near the area of the lymph node. Persistent infection would make the lymph nodes increase in size, and there are times when even with treatment, the enlarged lymph nodes do not regress in size. However, there are other conditions that can also present with enlargement of the lymph nodes. An example is a head and neck malignancy.
Avatar m tn The Urgent care shouldve sent you to an ENT. Sounds like the fluid from your middle ear backed up behind your ear and caused a bacterial infection. When they lanced it, it released all theat fluid and infection. The bacteria caused a cyst.. This infection is caused Mastoiditis. I would sschedule and appoint with an ENT and stay away from the Urgent care places. Did the Urgent Care DR put you on Antibotics? Hope you feel better.
Avatar f tn My son recently noticed a hard lump behind his left ear. He has also complained of back pain. Any possible suggestions?
795097 tn?1237220795 I have had this lump behind my right ear for the last 2-3 weeks. It doesn't seem like it is really hard nor soft. But my worry is that...ever since I had this lump,I also have been getting a striking pain in the right side of my head. It last up to about 3 secs...just long enough to go through that side of my head. This worries me cause I have never had this problems before. Can someone help me...please?!?!?
Avatar n tn my brother has a lump behind his right ear which sometimes throbs its were his skull meets the ear it is slightly red and inflamed and sore to touch, any help or advice would be gratefull
Avatar f tn Use alcohol pads behind your ears after every shower. I once had one as large as a dime...that one I had to have lanced at the doctors office. If you have insurance, try to get into your doctor next week or sooner if they have an opening. They might put you on an antibiotic or they might tell you its ready to be lanced, which can be done right there in the office, usually. Good luck!!!
Avatar m tn A few hours ago I woke up from a nap, and noticed a lump on the right side of my head. It is a little above where my earlobe ends, and is about a quarter of and inch back. It feels very hard, and doesn't seem to move around if i try to push it in any direction. It so hard that I first thought it was my bone popping outwards. It really doesn't feel like its on my skin but almost like its attached to bone? It doesn't hurt by itself, but if i do press on it I experience some pain.
1389878 tn?1279854755 this is actually for my husband, he has recently noticed a hard lump behind his ear and has grown to be very worried about it. He actually has lumps on both sides behind his ears but his left side has grown enough for him to take notice in it, it is hard and does not move around, is not tender to the touch nor is it red or irritated in any way on the outside. He says that it doesn't cause him any constant pain but every once in awhile he will get little sharp pains where the lump is.
2133874 tn?1335815939 I just thought it was from my glasses but Friday morning I had a big lump behind my ear. it was about 2 inches long and kind of bean shaped. At the base of it, it was softer but sore if i rubbed it and the top of it was harder but didn't hurt at all. It also was a little itchy. We had a big function at our church this weekend that we were very involved in so i couldn't get it checked out. Saturday it was maybe slightly worse and Sunday I thought the swelling was less.
Avatar f tn Hiya, I've had a lump behind my left ear for a about 3-4 weeks now.. It's small & hard & it isn't sore or tender at all.. I had a cold about 3 weeks ago so I presumed it was something to do with that, & my Dr. said it was when I went to see him, however, my cold has been & gone & all that's left is a sore throat.. But it isn't sore all the time, just at night when I'm sleeping?
Avatar n tn i too have had a small pea sized lump on my ear at the back, just near to the crease. (if you put your finger just behind the lobe and rest it in the soft part, it is just above there) it is tender to touch and has been there for nearly 3 months. i dont think it has changed in size and it isnt a different colour so you wouldnt see it there until you feel it. i have not had the chance to go and see the doctor mainly because im not that worried about it but im curious to know what it could be.
Avatar n tn I also wore sun glasses on my head a couple days ago for most of the day and the lump is wear my glasses would have rubbed my skin. Thanks for your advice and for reading this post.
Avatar n tn Hello, The lump behind the ear on the head may be due to the trauma inflicted to the ears. What is the size and constituency of the lump (soft, fleshy, firm, rubbery, or matted). Is it movable or fixed? Most lumps in that site are due to infections or benign tumors of soft tissue origin. Behind the ear there is skin, fat, cartilage, bone, nerves, blood vessels, lymph nodes, and salivary gland tissue (a portion of the parotid salivary gland extends behind the ear).
Avatar f tn I have a hard lump behind my right ear but it doesnt hurt. I recently was diagnosed with costochondritis (inflamed rib cartilage). I have lso been extremely light headed and get constant head aches. I noticed the lump a couple days ago and i am really concerned as to what it is. Help!
Avatar n tn I have a lump on my head, behind my right ear. It's about the size of a walnut. It's quite tender to the touch and painful at times. I've had it for 2 days. I have also been sick with cold (very sore throat and dry, consistent coughing). I have read the possible things this lump might be, but how would one go about treating it? I do not have insurance! How would a swollen lymph node behind the right ear (on the head, where ear meets the head) be treated? Many thanks!

2058427 tn?1331937250 Yesterday I noticed a lump behind my ear. When I went to show my partner it, the lump had gone. Later it came back again and I noticed the effects it has on me when it again disappeared. It leaves me with a straining feeling in my eye, then tooth ache. Today, the lump has came and went about 7 or 8 times. The pain in the eye and the pain in the tooth the same when it goes. Any clues? I'd take myself to the Doctor... if it would stay long enough!
Avatar f tn Along with this I also went because of a lump right behind my left year, around the bone, its been there for many years and I can push it and it gets flatter, I think it's some kind of lipoma, it doesn't hurt and neither of them have grown in these years, yet I still find myself worrying about things like indolent lymphoma and slow growing lymphoma. Whenever I go to the doctors they never seem worried about these two lumps. I'm seventeen and quite thin if that helps w anything.
Avatar f tn okaay so, i discovered that i have a hard lump behind my left ear above my lymph nodes. (ive had swollen lymph nodes before from being sick, and my doctor showed me where they were incase it happened again) so its not a lymph node im sure of that. and im not sick, so they shouldnt be swollen BUT anyways ive been having pretty bad headaches for a few weeks now and then i found this bump it doesnt hurt, so that means its not dangerous right? if so, what could be possibly wrong with me?
