my brother has a lump behind his right ear which sometimes throbs its were his skull meets the ear it is slightly red and inflamed and sore to touch,any help or advice would be gratefull

Hi, I am a 20 year old male. I have had a hard lump behind my right ear for years now...at least 4 or 5. It feels like part of my skull but it is not on the left side of my head so i know that it's not. I asked my doctor about it when i was younger and he said it was a swollen lymph node and should go away at some point. It never did, however, it also never caused me any discomfort so i never got it looked at again.

Lump behind the ear could be an abscess, folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). Do discuss this with your doctor and get your son examined. At times a doctor is clinically able to diagnose the lump. If not, he will order a CT scan. Take care!

I have had this lump behind my right ear for the last 2-3 weeks. It doesn't seem like it is really hard nor soft. But my worry is that...ever since I had this lump,I also have been getting a striking pain in the right side of my head. It last up to about 3 secs...just long enough to go through that side of my head. This worries me cause I have never had this problems before. Can someone help me...please?!?!?

I have a lump on my head, behind my right ear. It's about the size of a walnut. It's quite tender to the touch and painful at times. I've had it for 2 days. I have also been sick with cold (very sore throat and dry, consistent coughing). I have read the possible things this lump might be, but how would one go about treating it? I do not have insurance! Hiya, I've had a lump behind my left ear for a about 3-4 weeks now.. It's small & hard & it isn't sore or tender at all.. I had a cold about 3 weeks ago so I presumed it was something to do with that, & my Dr. said it was when I went to see him, however, my cold has been & gone & all that's left is a sore throat.. But it isn't sore all the time, just at night when I'm sleeping?

this is actually for my husband, he has recently noticed a hard lump behind his ear and has grown to be very worried about it. He actually has lumps on both sides behind his ears but his left side has grown enough for him to take notice in it, it is hard and does not move around, is not tender to the touch nor is it red or irritated in any way on the outside. He says that it doesn't cause him any constant pain but every once in awhile he will get little sharp pains where the lump is.

A couple of weeks ago i noticed a hard lump behind my right ear about halfway down. Ive recently started training in MMA, could this have something to do with it in terms of trauma to the head? The last few days that area also feels like it is getting a hard lump under my skin, but this lump is not sore,warm like the boil behind my ear. My right side upper shoulder/neck is also sore. I have a really sore red blotch kinda of above and behind both of my ears. It just recently appeared. I have noticed the rest of my head has been kind of itchy and sore, but not as sore as the spots behind my ears. I thought that it was because I wear my hair up alot but its been a couple days and hasn't gone away. Does anyone know what this might be?

Yesterday I noticed a lump behind my ear. When I went to show my partner it, the lump had gone. Later it came back again and I noticed the effects it has on me when it again disappeared. It leaves me with a straining feeling in my eye, then tooth ache. Today, the lump has came and went about 7 or 8 times. The pain in the eye and the pain in the tooth the same when it goes. Any clues? Hello, I have a quarter sized soft lump on my head, behind my right ear. It is the same color as the rest of my skin, round and smooth, and the mass moves when I put pressure on it. I saw a dermatologist last year and was told that it was a mass of fat tissue and not to worry; however, it has grown since then. It doesn't hurt so I've left it alone but it's definitely gotten bigger. I just graduated and don't have medical insurance yet... Can anyone help?

A few hours ago I woke up from a nap, and noticed a lump on the right side of my head. It is a little above where my earlobe ends, and is about a quarter of and inch back. It feels very hard, and doesn't seem to move around if i try to push it in any direction. It so hard that I first thought it was my bone popping outwards. It really doesn't feel like its on my skin but almost like its attached to bone? It doesn't hurt by itself, but if i do press on it I experience some pain.

So about 5 days to a week ago I noticed a small hard lump just behind my ear on my head. It isn’t painful as such but when I press the the lower left side I experience a slight amount of pain. I thought it may be because of some mosquito bites I had as I’m allergic to them. I’ve had bad infections from them in the past and been on antibiotics, this time one was infected but not as bad as last time so I didn’t take any antibiotics for it.

I just thought it was from my glasses but Friday morning I had a big lump behind my ear. it was about 2 inches long and kind of bean shaped. At the base of it, it was softer but sore if i rubbed it and the top of it was harder but didn't hurt at all. It also was a little itchy. We had a big function at our church this weekend that we were very involved in so i couldn't get it checked out. Saturday it was maybe slightly worse and Sunday I thought the swelling was less.
