Avatar n tn a few days ago my co-workers noticed a bump behind my both ears. one told me that it could be lymph nodes so i looked it up but it didn't say anything about lymph nodes being behind your ears. i just looked in the mirror and i saw it myself. it looks like swellings behind my ears. as long as i know myself i always had that but it never bother me but if not What could that possibly be?
Avatar f tn Point them out to her pediatrist at your next visit. I have a small lump behind my right ear that my doctor told me was something that made white blood cells. I've had it my whole life without any complications. Maybe its the same thing. If the lumps seem to be swelling it could be her lymph nodes swelling due to an infection of some kind.
Avatar m tn My son has had a lump behind his ear ever since he was a baby. I asked the doctor about it when he was younger and he did not seem concerned. He is 17 now and still has a lump there. Should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn Painless lump behind the ear could be Lump behind the ear could be folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, an inflamed lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). Watch the lump. Do not touch everyday but once in 10-15 days. If the lump increases in size, becomes painful, changes color, bleeds, changes shape or consistency or more similar lumps appear then consult a doctor. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Lumps that are painless behind the ears are not uncommon. Sebaceous cysts is one which is a build up of oil and skin tissue over time. Lipoma is another which is a fatty cyst. Neither are serious. I would guess it is one of these two things. See your doctor to confirm.
1389878 tn?1279851155 this is actually for my husband, he has recently noticed a hard lump behind his ear and has grown to be very worried about it. He actually has lumps on both sides behind his ears but his left side has grown enough for him to take notice in it, it is hard and does not move around, is not tender to the touch nor is it red or irritated in any way on the outside. He says that it doesn't cause him any constant pain but every once in awhile he will get little sharp pains where the lump is.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am a 20 year old male. I have had a hard lump behind my right ear for years now...at least 4 or 5. It feels like part of my skull but it is not on the left side of my head so i know that it's not. I asked my doctor about it when i was younger and he said it was a swollen lymph node and should go away at some point. It never did, however, it also never caused me any discomfort so i never got it looked at again.
Avatar f tn Many oils are released behind the ears via the sweat glands...one may be plugged. I had to apply hot, wet compresses on it and, instead of squeezing it, I pulled outward around the surrounding area. It stretched it out and finally it began draining. Its kinda gross...thick, icky smelling pus like substance came out. After the initial drain, I them squeezed and MORE gunk came out. Its likely you will have to deal with these for the rest of your life...
744962 tn?1270942038 I also find that my glands behind my ears hurt and have a ringing tingling sound in my ears and on the thyroid. Does someone else experience the same - how long will it take for my levels to become normal?
Avatar n tn 3 days and i have very swollen glads and lumps behind my ears and at the back of my head which are sore to touch. Any ideas what it could be??
Avatar n tn It started behind my rt ear and now over several months it is now encompassing more of my skull heading toward the back of my skull. There is a lump behind both ears [normal I think] and the one behind the rt ear where the pain started feels larger that the left one; however, that is not the most painful area. I have to press pretty hard to elicit minor pain here.

Avatar f tn Is the lump in the bony area behind the ear or in the soft tissue behind the ear as if it is a lymph node? If it is a swollen lymph node then yes it could be from an infection. But do you have any other symptoms? When a lymph node is hard it may not be a lymph node or it could be a problem. So you should see a doctor about this. You probably should see an ear nose and throat doctor if you can go straight to one. They can feel it and decide the next course of action.
Avatar f tn Lump behind the ear that does not cause any other symptoms could be folliculitis (hair follicle infection), lipoma (localized collection of fat), a cyst, swollen lymph node or a neurofibroma (localized harmless swelling in of nerve and connective tissue). However swollen lymphnodes behind the ears could be due to chest infection, tonsillitis or pharyngitis, dandruff, or infection of ear. So check and see if there is dandruff or rash or if the baby has ear infection. Watch the lump.

Avatar n tn Have had a lump behind right ear that seems to be increasing in size. Have noticed this for a couple of months. Anyone have an experience with this sort of thing. My doctor won't refer me to an ENT wants to do a work up but won/t see me for a month. It might take another month for the ENT to see me . Should I just check into hospital?
Avatar f tn I have a 5 year old son who has a hard lump behind his ear. It is rather large but has caused him no symptoms. He's not complaining about anything hurting. He has had a problem in the past with swollen lymph nodes in his neck but I've never seen one behind his ear like this one. I'm a very parnoid mom. We adopted him from overseas and have very little health info on him. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Avatar n tn Hi everyone, I have a hard lump right behind the ear lobe. I'm wondering what it is. I think I've had it for about 3-4 years now but I'm not sure because I remember noticing it 3-4 years ago but I never payed attention to whether it went away or not but recently my parents pointed it out and it seems it's still there. Could it be some kind of cancer or dangerous at all?

Avatar n tn I have recently discovered a very tender lump on the section of skin behind my ear that joins my ear to my neck - its about the size of a pea and extremely tender to touch... assumed it was just a large sore, but its been around 3 or 4 days now and doesn't seem to looking like that.
Avatar m tn is behind both ears but its more pronounced behind my left ear. Plus my left ear sticks out more, is a little bigger and has a pea size lump on it. Here is the pic. Just look at the general "bulge" and know that it looks worse in real life and is more pronounced. I looked it up on Google and read about something known as Mastoiditis. The only thing is it's not really red, irritated and it doesnt hurt. What do you guys think?
