Common Questions and Answers about Lump at rabies injection site

lump

Avatar m tn SHe has a large non painful hard lump at the injection site, fever and a temperature of 40.5. She is shivering and not eating. Our vet has her on anti inflammatories and antibiotics and has suggested a blood testa after three days if no improvement. We've also been told if her temp gets up to 41 to cool her down in a cold bath. I'm not sure if our vet knows what to do in this situation. I need another opinion.

Avatar m tn These may include headache, dizziness, high temperature or chills, muscle ache, nausea or vomiting, and stomach cramps. If you notice any of these symptoms, or rash, or pain at site of injection, etc, please inform your doctor immediately. Take care!
Avatar n tn m a Nurse and today a lump appeared right after the injection site with screaming pain. This has never happened. He just gets a little stinging and that's it. What did I do wrong? I pinched the skin, swabbed just down, massaged for two mins. and the lump, it has gone down, why?
Avatar f tn Hey so my injection site is extremely bruised and it worries me its almost a dark purple.. Has anyone expire mixed this? My other shots were unusual as well but I have sensitive skin but they were read and like the size of 2 quarters. Itchy and just a large lump.
4455840 tn?1354842183 Did massaged post injection as instructed by the nurse. But realised this lump thing over the site beneath the skin, not on the surface to be exact. Does this mean the medicine is still at the injection site region and not absorbed by the body?
Avatar f tn Here's a good article explaining how post-exposure vaccines should be administered: https://www.who.int/ith/vaccines/rabies/en/ It sounds like you're OK as there is a line stating, "any remaining volume should be administered IM at an anatomical site distant from vaccine administration" It is likely that, if the other injections were given in your arm, the final administration in your leg was appropriate.

382218 tn?1341181487 I had also heard that thigh area was bad for reactions and wanted to try to prevent this. Well, I soon afterwards, I got a huge hard lump at the site which as dimished a lot, but I can still feel it two days later. Does anyone know what the lump is, ie: is it fluid collecting under the skin? For my fourth shot, on my left outer thigh, I prepped by warming the injection site for 10 mins before the shot, and chilling it for 15 mins afterwards.
Avatar f tn I was using copaxone I did have a itch at the injection site and a lump that lasted for days sometimes weeks. Blistering I never experienced.
Avatar f tn I washed the wound with soap and applied dettol over it. I had two anti-rabies injection on(20th and 23rd April). After injection I was feeling headache, dizziness and my arm swallowed little bit. The skin around wound is also turned bluish. Is it because of dettol?. However bite was not intense and not deep. I was bitten by a dog earlier in 2010. Then I completed my anti-rabies course(0,3,7,14,28 day injection) and HRIG(I searched that) injection into my wound with 3rd day ARV injection.
Avatar n tn s pretty hard on your system, though obviously less so than getting rabies. If you are under the care of a physician and they told you to continue, then of course that's the best advice. The list of possible adverse reactions is pretty long, but it seems like your symptoms fall into the range of what is known to be possible: https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar m tn Can this be considered as exposure to rabies virus if at all the dog which bite him transfered rabies virus to him? Should i seek doctor?
233622 tn?1279334905 also after a a day or so at the injection site sometimes I get a lump that has a bug bite itch.....the nurse told me 24 hours after injection rub the lump to break it up ...and it works...... the lump and the itch go away..... I hope you find a system that works for you....I would ask your doctor..... what about calling the nurse from where you get your Betaseron...Im sure she will try to help reduce the site reactions. I hope you feel better soon...
Avatar f tn She said if cancer occurs at the injection site (meanin leg), they just amputate the leg! I was taken aback as at the time as I didn't realize the risk of cancer and vaccines. I wonder if anyone else here has heard that comment.
Avatar m tn Ummm, wash it out. Bandage if necessary and keep an eye out for signs of infection.
Avatar f tn Some cats will vomit. Mine did, and it is also normal. She is probably hurting because there is bruising or abcess forming in the area where the shot was given. It may even get a bit sore. This should disappear in several days. If it persists, however, it could mean it is developing into a sarcoma and should be checked by your veterinarian. Now, according to what you've described, she is having severe discomfort at the injection site, right?
Avatar m tn I'm a international student and I'm so worried about my experience at an emergency room to get rabies shot. The nurse spotted some blood on the desk and wiped the blood with his hands(he was wearing exam gloves) and then gave me my rabies shot without changing gloves. He then picked up a piece of alcohol wipe (I'm not sure if this is the right name. It was a small piece of paper as thin as normal wet wipes and was dipped in alcohol.
Avatar n tn if you get a bump after an insulin injection it means that you chose a poor injection site. Insulin absorbs into subcutaneous fat. So wherever you shot and a bump comes up, that means there was not enough fat in that spot to absorb the insulin you just shot. try picking a more fatty area and shooting very slowly.
Avatar f tn I am just finishing up my 2nd month of Copaxone. I had increased site reactions starting at about 3 weeks, and now they are mostly calming down again. Some spots are better than others. My stomach has very little reaction. My arms and hips I'll get a hive & lump, sometimes discomfort, but that goes away in about a day. My thighs are the worst and not only sting and have lumps, but I get bruises there also which can last weeks.
Avatar f tn 6 days later I found out that the area the attack occurred is endemic for rabies. I kinda panicked and quickly started vaccination at a local public hospital. 5 doses on day 0, 3, 7, 14 and 28. I was not prescribed immunoglobulin. Later that day I decided to visit a private hospital for the immunoglobulin. I opted for the purified equine version for budgetary reasons.
Avatar f tn If very unlucky that she is a potencial patient in her latent period, do I have a risk of getting rabies? And since I have already taken the rabies vaccine, do you think the antibody would help to clear the virus? Any cases that the could rabies virus be spreaded from people? Thnaks very much!!!!!!!! since there is no way for a rabies test, do you think antibody test would help to prove that I did not get rabies??
