pain

Avatar m tn What movement aggravates the pain? is it when you bend your trunk forward or backward? There are therapeutic exercises that you can do to prevent farther bulging of the disk to prevent aggravation of pain. You just need to consult a physical therapist for them to teach you these exercises. Ask them to teach you also proper body mechanics to prevent further injury in your lower back.
Avatar n tn There are many different terms used to describe spinal disc pathology and associated pain, such as “herniated disc”, “pinched nerve”, and “bulging disc”. The bones which form your spine are called as vertebrae. The space between two vertebras is cushioned with disc. When disc bulge or break open due to any reasons like ageing, or trauma to spine, it is called as herniated disc and this can cause pinching of nerve.
Avatar f tn Pressure on the lumbar nerves can cause pain due to spondylotic changes in vertebrae, degenerative bone disease, herniated disc, bone disease, cancer or TB of the vertebra or bad posture. Kidney problems, stones in the urinary tract and colitis or IBS are the other possibilities. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn True sciatica is a condition that occurs when a herniated lumbar disc compresses one of the contributing roots of the sciatic nerve. This type of low back pain is less common than other causes and conditions that produce back pain. For instance, sporting activities, recreational activities, and heavy labor can cause back and leg pain, which is commonly misdiagnosed as sciatica.
Avatar m tn I had a back pain - severe - from herniated disc 2 years back. It improved slowly with all medication & physio. So after one year - that is a year back, I started going to fitness & started weight traing again with the help of physical trainer. I used to do quite a lot of weight training & everything was going great. In last June, around 5 months back, I started getting burning feet sensation which I never had before.
Avatar f tn Last Thursday I had a sudden onset of mid to lower back pain, and shooting pain down my back when I lowered my head. I was seeing stars! I left work and cried from the pain for 2 days, before the neuro ordered some muscles relaxers and neurontin. I finally have some relief but am having extreme difficulty walking. I had a lumbar MRI yesterday because he thought it was maybe a herniated disc. My question is this, if there is no sign of a herniated disc what in the world is happening to me?
1136103 tn?1260667675 It felt like my leg was on fire and it would go numb and if I was not holding on to something I would fall the pain in my lower back was unreal I felt like taking my own life it was the worst pain I have ever felt. Please keep in mind I am a health as can be 30 year old. Never was hurt never really saw doctors growing up. So I get a MRI the workmen comp's doctor say it is nothing just my L4 to L5 to S1 is bulging and i should report to work in a week.
Avatar n tn An MRI revealed a herniated disc in her back, and then she went through physical therapy and chiropractics. They only provided very temporary relief. A surgeon wanted her to have surgery, but I did not want that for her. In the meantime we discovered that the "pop" was most likely her ligament(s) becoming overstretched which in turn allowed her pelvis to shift as she walked causing a bursitis on the front of her pelvis.
Avatar m tn I have BPH (an enlarged prostrate) ,and I have recently discovered after a back injury that I have a herniated disc at L4,L5 and a small inguinal hernia on the left side.I suffer pain in my lower abdomin and testicals. The testicular pain is constant and a dull pain that can get worse if I exercise ,play tennis, golf etc.I don't know if the testicular pain is coming from my back herniated disc or from the hernia.
Avatar f tn I had been diagnosed with a small herniated disc in my lower back. Lumbar l-5. I have been dealing with back pain since April 2015. I've already been treated by a chiropractor for 8 weeks with no relief. I then Was referred to a pain management doctor and had a total of three epidurals and still no relief. My pain is so bad that I can't stand for more then 5 minutes at a time and have pain all around my back and pelvic area, And all the way down my legs.
Avatar f tn I rested for 4 months (apr - now(27th July)) without any heavy lifting, and last week when i tired to move my furniture, i stil felt the intense pain on my lower right back the moment i bend down and lift my bed up. Besides experiencing pain during heavy lifting, ever since March, i noticed that occasionally(not everytim) when i sneeze my lower right back will feel the pain. Most of the time is when I'm lying on my bed sneezing and sometimes when i'm standing, I will feel the pain.
Avatar f tn I had a C4- C5 fusion and I also have a bulging disc still in my neck that. I also have 2 herniated disc L4-L5 in my lower back that cause back pain and pain in my hip my back L4-L5 are not from the car wreck but C4-C5 are from the whiplash in the car wreck. I would suggest you go to a neurologist and have it checked out ASAP.
Avatar n tn The pain got so bad i had to go back to the hospital for a week and they only pump me with all kinds of drugs, setroids, iv morphine and pill morphine, vicodin, valium, lortab, tramadol, gabapentin. He was just trying to get me out of pain then send me home. Then two days the pain was back i went to see him and he gave me RX of oxy 60mg twice aday on the other stuff but told me to stop the morphine. this last time that i was in the hospital they did a mri and ct.
Avatar f tn After giving birth to my 2nd child, I had an MRI of my lower back to help determine the cause of low back pain. It showed a bulging disc and a herniated disc at L4-L5 and L5-S1. Underwent disc decompression and that corrected this. The pain was still there. My GP determined that the little fatty "knots" in my low back were back mice and began injecting them wtih lidocaine. This gave me temporary relief. I'm still having pain and the back mice are still there.
Avatar m tn You could actually watch my leg jump with every heart beat. I had herniated disc L5 S1 and several bulging disc but had extruded disc material lying on nerve causing the pain. They went in and removed the extruded disc material and shaved the disc. I also have degenerative disc disease. So dont take her pain lightly. Get MRI and go to a nuerosurgeon. Not ortho Dr. Nueros know more about the nerves. She needs to use ice not heat per my Dr.
Avatar n tn ve had 5 back surgeries 3 major and 1 to instal a stim to stop pain due to continued pain and 1 to remove it they put it at wrong spot never helped,I would try to avoid surgery try Faset Blocks or epidural injections 1st.It seems when they cut you once most times you'll be cut again,i;ve had herniations in L5- SI disc 3 times. And thru other tess it's showing a possible another herniation in same disc alot of times it seems to weaken that disc they work on.
Avatar f tn I have cronic lower back pain, herniated disk slong with a siatica problem. So i live with back pain daily, i take loratab For this problem. Yesterday i woke up with the back pain so intense and leg pain, an ache throught out both my legs, they were so weak i could hardly stand. The pain is pretty bad in my feet and ankles aswell. I have never had this issue before, its so intense the loratab barely touches it.. I am not sure what to do.
Avatar m tn You may have herniated a disc by the pain you describe. I herniated 2 just standing up from a squatting position. I would make an appt to see a doctor. They can start you on prednisone to help shrink it and hopefully go back into place if that is your problem. I just herniated a 3 rd disc and have had several surgeries including a fusion. Don't let it get out of hand, hopefully it's not a herniation but get it checked out especially if you can't walk.
1943759 tn?1324045251 My husband has severe pain in his lower back. He says it feels like a pintched nerve. This is the second time he gets it. He's been taking Advil for the pain and been putting ice hot but it doesnt help much. Is there something he can take for the pain? Its fraustrating to him because it affects his work (he's a driver).
171791 tn?1358214381 I had lower lumber discectomy feb 2008 for L5 herniated disc. I also have degenerative disc disease.. I had to go back to the Nuerosurgeon last week cause I hurt so bad on the other side now. They will do another MRI Nov 20th. He said when he did surgery he fixed the herniated disc but that one was bulging and it is probably hernitated now. Why didnt he just go ahead the first time and fix it too???? I hurt so bad when I lay down to sleep. Worse than before.
Avatar m tn low back pain=herniated discs. If it was a herniated spinal disc that was causing the problem spinal surgeons could fix it 97% of theg time, but their rate of helping people within a few days to a few weeks of surgery is: dismal!
Avatar m tn m a 18 year old male 6 foot 180 pounds and i have a torn disc and a herniated disc in my lower back. i have been experiencing pain in the back of my left leg for 2 years now and back pain for about 4 months that only starts to hurt if i walk alot (like at a mall) or do sports activities. my doctor said that it should have healed by 6-8 months and it hasn't so the next step is surgery. i absolutley love playing football and have dedicated myself to it.
1429813 tn?1283152608 i have just found out i have a dislocate disc in my lower back,it is very painful sometimes i can't bend my back it hurts and i also drag my legs, but i fined out i mite have to do sergery i want to know if i would i am looking for some answers please help.....
Avatar f tn Normally the first treatment for a herniated disc is oral steroids which shrink the disc and help it to go back into place. The sooner this is done the better chances you have of it working providing this is the problem. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar f tn If the pressure on the nerves shifted by a change in muscle tension (which, might I think be influenced by the pain relief from the epidural), yes, I think the pain could switch from one side to the other. Muscles tensing or going into spasm are often the worst cause of back pain and nerve pinching, at least up until the point where the cushioning disc has completely gone (yours I gather is merely crushed/flattened, and a portion somewhat pushed out from between the vertebrae).
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have 3 bulging discs. I have a herniated disc myself so unfortunately I know more about backs than I'd like to. Your your disc hasn't herniated yet so you are in luck. Do not pick up heavy items till your back feels better and even then, lift with your legs and not with your back. If you apply too much pressure to your back by lifting heavy items incorrectly you can rupture your discs and then pain will get much worse.
Avatar m tn You may have back problems, such as a herniated disk. It may be something else, a medical problem. You should see a physician soon.
