They received the results and I am waiting for my appointment in a little less than two weeks. The last time I took the test I lost 20 pounds in three weeks due to stress. The endo said that could be a major factor in the level also I am overweight so I am currently working on that.
Avatar f tn Obviously, anything that gives you side effects that bad is probably not the right treatment for you. Generally, women aren't given that treatment as it can cause acne, hair growth where women don't want it, and other male attributes. In your case, you had low testosterone and high SHBG, which might have been able to be treated by dietary changes. But people are different. A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc.
Avatar f tn Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a side effect for men taking Adderall. Men report a decreased interest in sex and difficulty getting and keeping an erection. This change in sex drive or sexual performance can cause distress and embarrassment." Just because it never affected you that way before doesn't mean it isn't affecting you now. Maybe your body has changed its reaction to your dose. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar n tn Results are sometimes disappointing and there could be side effects. There are natural ways to improve testosterone levels (e.g. tongkat ali), ask your doctor about them. b) I know Dostinex (cabergoline) is an effective treatment for high prolactine. I've tried Dostinex recently to improve my libido but results were disappointing. c) Have you tried a PDE-5 inhibitor (Viagra, Cialis, Levitra)?
Avatar m tn Hi, This is a testosterone delivery skin patch applied by sticking the patch on the skin of the abdomen, back, thighs etc for those who are unable to produce enough natural testosterone in their body. For more details including side effects,Google for ' androderm ' .
Avatar f tn The theoretical goal of such treatment would be to raise free testosterone levels while monitoring for adverse androgenic effects such as acne, hirsutism or deepening voice.
Avatar m tn Enlarged breasts are one of the first and most noticeable side effects to appear in men when estrogen levels are elevated. This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too. Other side effects include loss of muscle tone, a decrease in body hair, shrinking testes, depression, fatigue, lower energy levels, poor memory, low stress tolerance, an ncrease in fat around the mid-section (belly fat) and erectile dysfunction.
Avatar f tn Hi. Your husband's testosterone was low, and normally they give testosterone shots for this, or I should say "you" would be giving your husband the shots. But he can also have the nurse at his doctor's office give them to him. It's good that he saw an Endo, and he/she really can't comment until his test results come back. At this time she will have lots to discuss with you.
Avatar f tn Viagra and Cialis without sex drive equals an erection that allows for sex but no satisfaction to the male if there is no drive. Low testosterone causes low sex drive and erectile dysfunction. I give myself prscribed shot of testosterone twice a month which definitly brings back your sex drive but sex drive if you cant get an erection is probably worst that not having it, so I also take prescribed Viagra on occasion.
Avatar f tn With men, the issue of concern is testosterone deficiency, while with women the concern is excess testosterone production. So no problem indicated there. Not sure why the doctor ran the FSH test for you at age 73. There is room to increase your thyroid med but in the absence of other symptoms I'd be hard pressed to say that an increase is what you need. By the way, what dosage of Armour are you taking daily?
Avatar m tn My testosterone levels are very Low. In the 300's. I'm thirty years old. I've done some research and see it should be much higher. I have been on anti depressants since I was in my late teens-early twenties. I would imagine it's not a coincidence. I have all of the symptoms of Low T, some which could also be the side effects of ssri's and anxiety meds. I can't go without those meds. Not yet anyway, I've tried and I need medication to function.
Avatar n tn Hi there, Low testosterone can be a cause of low fertility in men. It can lead to low sperm counts, low motility, and even poor morphology. The cause of low testosterone can be related to primary hypogonadism when the problem is in the organs which affect sexual function or secondary or tertiary hypogonadism when the problem is related to the pituitary or hypothalamus. Treatment aims at finding the underlying cause and addressing the issue. Your doctor may prescribe testosterone replacement.
282812 tn?1225110981 My DH has a normal to low testosterone levels and also has a low sperm count. He was given Clomid. He started getting side effects from the Clomid so we dont know if he'll be staying on it. He just had a SA yesterday so I'll know in a week if anything improved.
Avatar f tn Low testosterone effects a number of men from varying ages. I am now 26 and have suffered from low T for the last 4-5 years. I have suffered from the same symptoms as yourself and I would recommend getting a referral to an Endocrinologist who specialises in hormones to determine the route cause of low T. When considering potential treatment a word of warning from personal experience, when considering going on TRT please be mindful of the potential risks involved for fertility in the future.
Avatar m tn Hi, One of the doctor referred me Andriol Testocaps (2 capsule int he morning and 1 in the evening) for 3 months. Is it a steroid and having it for 3 months will going to have side / ill effects ?
Avatar m tn Hello, You should not take the testosterone injections unless and until the levels of testosterone has been found to be low. Testosterone injections has many side effects and these include cholesterol levels alteration, cognitive and behavior changes, numbness, tingling sensation, loss of appetite, increased thirst, male patterned baldness, and breast swelling in men.
Avatar n tn In the past members noted above have discussed the potential for Testosterone Replacement Therapy for their low testosterone after doing tx. I just got test results back showing I am at the borderline of low normal, and low....about 300 ng/dl. After doing a LOT of reading about T ranges, and replacement, symptoms from low 'T', etc. I am beginning to think this may be a major part of my post-tx problems. The sx for low Testosterone are plentiful, and can be overwhelming.
Avatar n tn Where you are on any medications or not, it would be a good idea for the doctor to do a blood test to check your testosterone levels. Some men do get low levels of testosterone and there are testosterone gels that are applied to a limb to absorb the hormone. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn Researching this on the internet I found that is the average level for someone who is 60. My problems seem to be testosterone related as well, like related to the sex drive and response and not the physical structures themselves. And I was kind of late on some secondary characteristics like facial hair and never got any morning erections after my teens. My other health problems (all of them) are also listed as possible effects of low t, like high blood pressure, depression, etc.
Avatar m tn Heart Failure and Strokes can be caused by Low Level Testosterone. It has made a world of difference for me since starting replacement therapy. Most people associate Low Libido and Erectile Dysfunction with Low Testosterone but the symptoms and consequences are far more serious. Replacement therapy is controversial but for some, there is no option. If you haven’t already, get it checked. What do you have to lose? Good Luck, R. Glass. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am a male 41 years old, having very low testosterone levels and looking for testosterone replacement therapy and need advice, have so many question about this issue and also being obese, it is very difficult life.
Avatar n tn I have been on this for 2 1/2 years and have no side effects from the medication (now at 90mg per day) . For Low T I inject 1ml of testosterone cypionate (200mg/ml) each week. To avoid the complications for estrogen conversion I take 1mg of ansatrozole 1x per week. I agree, you should find a better DR. who listens to your concerns.
Avatar m tn My Endo also ordered tests for LH. High LH signals the brain to make more testosterone. Mine is on the low side but in the normal range. It is 3.6 mIU/ml. Supposed normal range is 1.2 to 8.6 mIU/ml. He expected my LH to be much lower. He has classified my condition as "Idiopathic", unexplainable. He said that if my testicles were damaged then my pituitary glands would respond with more LH. I should have high LH if my testosterone is low but my Lh is pretty low too.
