Avatar f tn I have a 21 yr male who has low testosterone levels and high estrogen levels. He has gynecomastitis, overweight, depressed, and insomnia. Any advice on treatment option!
Avatar m tn Sorry for the delay responding to your comment. Although low testosterone is not as common in younger males, it does happen. If you get a doctor that will not run a blood test, I am not sure what recourse you have in the UK. If all else fails, you can try buying DHEA over the counter at a vitamin or health food store (time released if possible). DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and can help raise your levels.
Avatar n tn I think he is very comfortable with a low sex drive and the minimal amout of sex. I am sure the low testosterone level and the working alot of hours doesn't help matters, but I think he was like this the WHOLE time you. He might have put more effort into having the amount of sex that you wanted WHILE you all were dating and even that DIP over time. Secondly, you KNEW this was an issue BEFORE you married the man too.
Avatar n tn The normal range of testosterone in males is 300 -1,000 ng/dL and in females it is 15 - 70 ng/dL.The normal ranges vary among laboratories. Few labs may use different measurements or test different specimens. It is best to talk to your doctor about the interpretation of test results. Write to me again with more queries. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar m tn m going ahead and getting tested in a couple weeks. All this crap I see on the internet give a link to low testosterone which I do have. I am getting shots for treatment. I guess I wanna know if it can still be common for a guy under forty to have low testosterone. My doctor tells me the two are not linked but the Internet tells me they are. I admit I was with a few women that I failed to use protection and it was vaginal with no oral or anal.
17698157 tn?1459229144 my age is 30 I got married in 2011 I have no sperm count means zero and very low testosterone level, some Dr said your FSH and Lh levels are very high as normal ranges in males..
Avatar m tn Hi there, The common causes of hot flashes in males are andropause, thyroid disorders and aging hormones. As a man ages his body produces less testosterone and androgen which may cause hot flashes. Other causes of hot flashes are infections like HIV and tuberculosis. Use of medications like Nifedipine and Calcitonin and certain antibiotics are few other causes of hot flashes. Sometimes food containing monosodium glutamate can cause hot flashes.
Avatar n tn Testosterone is very important for females as well as males. Testosterone also converts into estrogen. All three primacy sex hormones all interact with one another and having them in the proper balance at the proper time is very important and complex. Do you have any menstrual cycle irregularities? Can you also tell us your diet and the level of exercise you do? Are you an "extreme" athlete of any sort?
Avatar f tn Erectile dysfunction is not as uncommon as people think in young men with 26 % of men under the age of 4o reporting it. We encourage you to speak to your doctor about it. While masturbation can possibly impact this, there are other underlying causes you would need to rule out. So, being able to talk to your doctor is important. With the high number of males who have the issue, they will not be terribly surprised and will hopefully have suggestions for you.
Avatar f tn Breast cancer in males is uncommon, especially in the young, but it can occur. A lump under the nipple of a young boy is most likely gynecomastia, which is common in boys around the age of puberty and is usually temporary.
Avatar m tn For some males, especially young males it takes very little stimulation for an erection to occur. This does not mean you are gay or that you are attracted to other males. It most likely is the stimulation of the showers. I know this must be embarrassing for you but rest assured there is nothing wrong, this can be quite normal. In time this will not be an issue as you mature and become less sensitive. Good luck to you. I promise this will get better.
Avatar m tn I took it for several months as my blood work showed low testosterone. There was no effect whatsoever on my fatigue, sex life or oven follow up test values. I personally think the whole testosterone treatment is a scam. Nobody tested me for free and albumin bound testosterone, the biologically active forms. Total testosterone is useless. This is like measuring total cholesterol without the HDL and LDL fractions. The primary practice docs are totally clueless.
Avatar f tn s and Hashimotos * Ferritin (and do stress FERRITIN, not just RBC) * Adrenals Cortisol levels (but we strongly recommend saliva tests) * B-12 * Estrogen * Progesterone * DHEA * Reverse T3 * CBC * Comprehensive Metabolic Panel * Lipid Profile * ACTH Stim test * Growth Hormone (24 hour urine test) * Neurotransmitter (24 hour urine test) If your there and the doctor is willing, an MRI with and without contrast of the pituitary gland may also be helpful.
Avatar n tn 47-244 pg/mL. Is it lower than this? Some common low testosterone symptoms are decrease in sex drive, ejaculation problems, shrinking testicle, fatigue, loss of body hair, difficulty gaining or maintaining muscle, depression, and loss of strength. With testosterone replacement therapy there will be improvement in all these parameters with time. Only this therapy helps in case of low hormone. The cause has to be found out and treated.
Avatar n tn I am 47 years & had pit tumor removed in early 2013. I've had low thyroid & testosterone levels since. For the low-T, my endocrinologist injects me with testosterone replacement hormone Nebido (4 ml). It usually lasts 3-4 months before I had to be injected again. Not long after the first Nebido injection, I started drinking extract of soursop leaves (recommended by another pit tumor patient).
Avatar n tn So over in the UK , there is no Free and total testosterone? In that case your level is very low. Its in range but very low. I would find a good urologist or testosterone person over there and explore the possibilities of testosterone replacement therapy. Even if your thyroid levels are low, the testosterone being raised will add to your libido, your energy level, and possibly aid with other issues as well.
Avatar m tn t know if their numbers for the normal healthy ranges are for males for any time in life, or what. Does anyone know ranges that are age-specific?
4326355 tn?1354357341 The levels in men are most often checked to evaluate signs of low testosterone such as seen in conditions like impotence, low level of sexual interest, infertility, or thinning of the bones. Medical history an the symptoms present are important considerations also. It is best that you talk to your doctor about the meaning of your specific test results. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn Hey there, keep in mind low testosterone and liver disease are common, don't remember if you have cirrhosis?
Avatar m tn Could you list your lab ranges for testosterone and prolactin. In general, blood prolactin above 200 ng/ml almost always is diagnostic of a true prolactinoma. High prolacin lowers testosterone. And if your testosterone is also measured in ng/dL that is so low it's ridiculous! Research shows over 95% of euthyroid patients with no thyroid symptoms has a TSH under 2.5mU/L. TSH is of no value with conditions that do not affect the thyroid such as central hypothyroidism and cellular resistance.
Avatar m tn If your testosterone is low this needs to be treated. Low testosterone not only delays maturity, but it also causes brittle bones, so I don't understand why they didn't start treatment at the time. I would have it checked again, and if it is still low then ask what is to be done. It normally involves injections that needs to be administered in the rump, so you need to have someone do this for you or most docs will have you drop in and see the nurse for the injection.
Avatar n tn Hi, As can be seen from the following link, an young adult male can have a serum testosterone (T) level in the range of 300 to 950 nanogram per deciliter of blood. : http://www.mayomedicallaboratories.com/test-catalog/Clinical+and+Interpretive/83686 This range also slightly varies among different labs. The broad range is to cover a larger population base. It is is also expected that with age the T level reduces by about 1% per year after the age of 30 years.
Avatar n tn I have most of the classic symptoms with Low Testosterone: Low libido, fat in mid-section, fatigue, grumpy, low stamina, medium/weak erections etc., Went to my Urologist. After blood work, he said I was fine and prescribed nothing. I'm thinking he's crazy. Can someone review my readings and give me an unofficial recommendation? I'm thinking I should've been recommended some sort of therapy, and if so, which therapy is good for my situation?
