Avatar m tn In young patients psychological causes like lack of confidence, guilt, and anxiety are common possibilities. While in elderly patients physical factors predominate. It can be caused by certain medications, including drugs for high blood pressure and depression. Thyroid dysfunction, vascular diseases like atherosclerosis, peripheral vascular disease and many chronic diseases can cause this problem. What is the cause of low sperm count?
Avatar f tn Obviously, anything that gives you side effects that bad is probably not the right treatment for you. Generally, women aren't given that treatment as it can cause acne, hair growth where women don't want it, and other male attributes. In your case, you had low testosterone and high SHBG, which might have been able to be treated by dietary changes. But people are different. A problem is, testosterone varies a whole lot in both men and women, by the day, hour, week, etc.
Avatar n tn I'd like to know what my blood test results may mean. I've taking diet pills (ephedrine/caffeine) for a few years. In last year my endurance has decline. About 8 months ago I started noticing Fatigue, memory problems, body aches and problems maintaining erections. I started taking pregnenolone and 7-keto DHEA thinking it would increase testosterone. I finally went to my doctor 2 1/2 months ago. He ordered blood tests.
Avatar m tn Ive had hot flashes from 18 on albeit sporadicly. They could be quite intense. Im 33 now since Ive been treated for low testosterone I haven't had any.
Avatar m tn A study published in 2000 examined the relationship between diet and SHBG, and found that “diets low in protein in elderly men [40-70 years old] may lead to elevated SHBG levels and decreased testosterone availability. The decrease in bioavailable testosterone can then result in declines in sexual function and muscle and red cell mass, and contribute to the loss of bone density.”22 3. Soy and fish oil keep estrogen and SHBG in check.
Avatar m tn I am 75, and Endocrinologists at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, set-up a trial for Testosterone measurement for elderly guys like me. I was asked to give a small amount of blood so my Testosterone level could be measured. I was later told that I did not qualify for the trial because my Testosterone level was too high for the trial. For comparison, my Testosterone measures 590 ng/dL(nanograms per deciliters).
Avatar n tn If it is still low, increase the dose by another 10 mg. and get tested again. Once it is back in the normal range, stop there since excessive use of higher doses can lead to problems. It is also vital that you check your levels of testosterone, which is an important substance for a variety of reasons. Make sure you get tested for both free and bound testosterone.
Avatar f tn Some psychologists are now estimating that as much as 30% of cases of depression in men over 30 are related to testosterone levels. The issues that you have mentioned are fairly typical issues tied to low testosterone, along with the Depression that I mentioned, as well as anxiety. Your numbers are pretty much in the neighborhood of where mine are, and I'm 37.
Avatar n tn I've heard (and read) that some can. I'm reasonably certain that some can't. Sometime around 45-50 years old the level of testosterone in the blood starts to decrease. By the time a man is 90 it is likely his testerone level is so low that he not only can't get enough of an erection to masturbate but he loses interest in sex and doesn't feel the need to.
Avatar m tn Sorry for the delay responding to your comment. Although low testosterone is not as common in younger males, it does happen. If you get a doctor that will not run a blood test, I am not sure what recourse you have in the UK. If all else fails, you can try buying DHEA over the counter at a vitamin or health food store (time released if possible). DHEA is a precursor to testosterone and can help raise your levels.
Avatar m tn //www.webmd.com/men/features/can-you-boost-testosterone-naturally#1 I've also heard eating protein, carb and essential fatty acids can help increase levels. I know that isn't much help. But it's a start.
Avatar n tn I have most of the classic symptoms with Low Testosterone: Low libido, fat in mid-section, fatigue, grumpy, low stamina, medium/weak erections etc., Went to my Urologist. After blood work, he said I was fine and prescribed nothing. I'm thinking he's crazy. Can someone review my readings and give me an unofficial recommendation? I'm thinking I should've been recommended some sort of therapy, and if so, which therapy is good for my situation?
Avatar n tn 8) My Endo wanted to MRI to make sure there is no prolactinoma, in MRI it came back with 6mm adenoma . She thinks my testosterone level is low because of high prolactin although it is not significantly high. I had Neurosurgeon appointment on Friday , he thinks they should repeat prolactin couple of times before start bromocriptine as i have quite of side effects like headaches, all the time dizzy and fatigue. Jan 09 Test result Total Testosterone 216 (241-827) LH 4.4 (1.5-9.3) FSH 2.2 (1.
Avatar m tn Testosterone levels rise during sleep and decrease during waking hours. Studies have shown that low testosterone levels frequently occur in men with obstructive sleep apnea. Treating obstructive sleep apnea should improve the levels of testosterone but other causes of low testosterone also need to e ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn re testing high or low, but again, most men have their highest levels in the morning, so a morning test will show higher than an evening test for most men. But again, if you got tested by your doctor, that's the person to discuss this with.
Avatar m tn Hi guys, been experiencing this low testosterone. I can't sleep and low sexual desires. I'm afraid that my partner will eventually dislike me. I went to the doctor and he gave me a prescription but still no effect. Is there any clinic you know that can help me?
Avatar n tn So over in the UK , there is no Free and total testosterone? In that case your level is very low. Its in range but very low. I would find a good urologist or testosterone person over there and explore the possibilities of testosterone replacement therapy. Even if your thyroid levels are low, the testosterone being raised will add to your libido, your energy level, and possibly aid with other issues as well.
1139187 tn?1355706647 I'm not familiar with this particular one, but did a little research and from what I've read, it's main claim to fame is the HGH. HGH naturally declines as we age; my sister was given HGH as part of her leukemia treatment; it neither helped her skin, nor helped her lose weight. I've never been one to recommend products of this type. They're not approved by FDA and you have no idea what you're really getting.
Avatar m tn what hormone? If it's one you need and are low on then yes. Many HCV patients have low pituitary function, and growth hormone can help with fatigue there, because normal levels will return the body to normal rates of repair. Same with other hormones, but you need tests to determine what you are low on. If you are referencing female hormones, estrogen has been shown to decrease the rate at which fibrosis occurs, and does help females with fatigue as it allows for better rest.
282812 tn?1225110981 Varicoceles are very common in men and do not always effect testosterone or sperm count. There are different stages of varicocele did someone tell you that is why his count is low? Has he had a complete test of all his hormones? If not the clomid may not help at all. The cause of the problem needs to be treated if you do not know the cause for sure then you can't actually treat it. I am amazed how many men dealing with fertility issues only see a doctor or a urologist it is crazy.
Avatar m tn Elevated levels of estrogen in men cause them to take on more feminine characteristics. In fact, when estrogen levels in men are higher than they should be, it can bring about a whole slew of unwanted and potentially dangerous side effects. Enlarged breasts are one of the first and most noticeable side effects to appear in men when estrogen levels are elevated. This is known as gynecomastia and a few other names in the gym too.
Avatar f tn I'm sorry to hear that. I've heard of men testing and having no sperm count and then years later tested again with a low sperm count. Look into taking vitamins supplements. I know folic acid is good for reproductive health. Have your testosterone levels tested too. Good luck!
Avatar m tn However, It has not been definitively established that the decline in testosterone seen in most aging men results in an androgen deficient state with health-related outcomes that can be improved by testosterone therapy. Hence, I’ll not recommend the same. Still, it’s good to consult an endocrinologist for the same and seek an opinion. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Hello everyone, I am sixteen years old and I hit puberty at 14 years and for months. My problem is that I don't have mustache, beard, and hair on my arms, and I also think that my penis is not fully grown.
