Common Questions and Answers about Low estradiol and low progesterone

Avatar n tn Well, the doctor who did my transfer told me to take 2 estrodial per day and 3 prometrium per day and shot of progesterone every other day and I wasn't due to go back until my pregnancy test 10/7. However, I was unhappy with several lapses in care that I received along the process so I switched and they immediately started doing my blood levels every 3-4 days. I guess it helps them to keep your hormones where they need to be to support pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Having said that, there is also a school of thought that the only thing needed is Estradiol and very little progesterone.. to keep the levels from fluctuating, which is what you are experiencing (in my opinion... I am a teacher, not a doctor, but I have been going through the 'hormone jungle' for some time now). Take a look at my profile page, particularly the entry, or comment, from this week on my journal page (bioidentical hormones) and try to get some of the books...
Avatar n tn I have had 4 failed pregnancies due to low progesterone... after the 3rd one re has me start progesterone with ovulation i was taking 2 sup per day 50mg each. Once i was pregnant it was only at 9 ;( RE likes to see 10 so he moved me up to 200 mg which was every 6 hours.. what a pain. literally, this pregnancy ended at 9.5 weeks no heartbeat... just started new cycle so will be starting back on prog with ovulation and crossing fingers all over again.. I am 38 had tubes untied may 06.
Avatar m tn She recently saw her endocrinologist and was informed that her FSH and Estrodiol levels were extremely loW, her cortisol levels are normal. He did an MRI of the pituitary and found nothing and now wants her to go to her gyno because he can't seem to figure it out. Can anyone shed some light on what the cause could be, this has been a frustrating ordeal, please help!
1448748 tn?1312956208 Well, the tube was chilled, the base line I am confident was taken correctly, this is the second reading I have gotten like this , and those results came back the next day, so it was just the second sample that got lost...my other results were..., a prolactin which was .5, and an estradiol which was 62, progesterone which was again <.1 but did not do the other pituitary hormones and didnt address my low hormones besides my low cortisol.
Avatar n tn I read that this was due to low cortisol levels because cortisol is made from Progesterone so if your Progesterone levels are low, your cortisol levels will be low and cortisol has an anti-inflammatory affect on the body. Also Estrogen dominance promotes the release of histamine. I started on 20mg of progesterone Kokoro cream twice a day because I am thin & I read that thin women need higher doses for 3 or 4 months to get progesterone levels up.
Avatar n tn I am a firm believer in low progesterone..had one sucessful pregnancy where progesterone started at 4.9 and re upped me to 1000 prometrium a day and my son made it.after 2 chemical miscarriages on only 400...my new re put me on progesterone shots and suppositories..i am now 8 weeks pregnant and staying on the shots for at least another 2 weeks..my 1st re moved to ireland so it took awhile to find another dr that was such a firm believer as well! I think your progesterone is low ..good luck..
691236 tn?1311199974 I had my trigger shot yesterday at 9am. My doc prescribed estradiol, prometrium (both in pill form) and progesterone suppositories for the next 2 weeks until my pregnancy blood test. Anyone else on these and do you know why? My doc just said my hormone levels were very low and he wanted to me take these to sustain the embryo if it does implant. Any knowledge/expereinece you have is greatly appreciated! Thanks girls!
Avatar f tn 2) The doctor said Ihave subclinical hypo. But my corsitol, progesterone and testosterone are also low. Should I have an ultrasound or just take the meds?
Avatar f tn You are taking a megadose of thyroid meds (240 mg of compounded dessicated and 100 mcg of levo per day?), and your FT4 is very low, and your FT3 is on the floor, but your TSH is almost non-existent. Since you are not new to hypo, have you always been on such high doses? Have your FT3/4 ever been higher? Have you ever had a diagnosis of the cause of your hypo, since TPOab is negative, and it's unlikely Hashi's. How long have you had these symptoms?
Avatar f tn I have a slightly low free T4. It was at 1 and last test .88. My doc wants to put me on Levothyroxine .25. I’m wondering if this is necessary? It’s still in the normal range, but all the way at the low end. Thank you!!
1627897 tn?1303253673 Am in day 6 on meds went for a sono today my estradiol was 150 and I only have I follicle growing in the left ovary and 3 small one on the right pleasehelp anyone have an answer am really stressing out.I just hope my cycle not cancel .
Avatar f tn hello! I am a 30 year old recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have been feeling like garbage recently and have not been able to find a doctor who can help. I recently went through my lab results from September and see my Estradiol is <5.00 pg/mL. I am also on Lo Loestrin. Can the birth control be causing the very low numbers, my PCOS, something else? The numbers are those of someone in menopause, so it is a bit concerning. Any insight is appreciated!
Avatar f tn The doctor said that my pregnancy is so weak that if I stopped the meds I will most probably get my period and miscarry. The doctor said that if next test (after 2 days) the result is still that low and not doubling, i will stop the meds. I am on estradiol 2 mg 4 times a day, progesterone injections once a day, Crinone progesterone suppositories twice a day and Estrodiol patches that release approx. 100 mg in 24hrs. I've been crying since I knew the result.
Avatar n tn Tested for FSH, Estradiol, Progesterone, Prolactin, and TSH. I need help understanding the implications of my results which I think indicate an imbalance. I do not have a doctor yet, I just had the test done and sent to me. I need to know what these #s mean, in terms of our odds for conceiving/treatments. Please respond if you have any info. Thanks. Results for FHS, Estradiol (E2) and progesterone are below. FSH = 1.97 E2 = 174 Progesterone 1.
Avatar n tn Here is a website of what hormones levels should be at certain times of your cycle. http://www.fertilityplus.org/faq/hormonelevels.html For your thyroid you should have FreeT4 and FreeT3 tested instead of totals. Are you having any symptoms of low estrogen i.e. hot flashes, sleep disturbances, moodiness, hair loss, etc.? My reproductive endo says I am low in estrogen (I am 32) so I am contemplating some sort of hormone replacement therapy (Vivelle-dot and prometrium).
126702 tn?1240888250 This then gets the body into menopause and then i start puregon injectables (gonal f) and then ovidrel and then IUI. I just spoke to the clinic and they dont want me to start the nasal spray -as it looks like I havent ovulated - blood test done on CD20 at 9am. I detected an LH surge last Tuesday (19th Feb). Another blood test in a week..... Thanks guys!
Avatar m tn Hi Guys, i'm basically 32, morbidly Obese, Height 5'7''/67inches, Weight 245 Pounds/110KG, Finally I went to see a renowned Endocrinologist of my City, he suggested me to do couple of blood tests, results are as below: ➢ Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Test for Diabetes (Blood glucose) – 6.3 nmol/L = eAG of 134 ➢ 2-Hour Insulin Glucose Challenge Test Results: CPS-2HOURS (Cohas) = 5.06nmol/L Insulin (2HOURS) = >2089 pmol/L ➢ Insulin1 – 370 pmol/L ➢ CPS = 2.
270696 tn?1243548020 s base their decision for us to stop the medications, what if implantation for somebody is just slow and lets say they order us to stop the medications, so that would just make things worse. When they told me to stop the progesterone and estradiol, I did. But I never had my period until day 5 after I stopped the meds, but that was already when I already started resuming normal activities like carrying grocery bags and all, of course thinking that I'm not pregnant.
Avatar f tn Finally from the ranges I am familiar with your estradiol is VERY low, while progesterone is actually a little high. But again this may depend on the units that are measured. I would recommend that you first concentrate on getting thyroid balanced, before you take on any changes in sex hormones. However with the surgical menopause, you may want to try to deal with both simultaneously. IF you can find a good hormone doctor. Which does NOT necessarily mean an endocrinologist.
