Low dose accutane for rosacea

Common Questions and Answers about Low dose accutane for rosacea

accutane

309783 tn?1271958229 He writes that low-dose isotretinoin resolves papules and pustles in difficult to treat rosacea, with very mild to no erythema. This therapy also seems to resolve telangiectasias "which is surprising because we know the retinoids have been reported to induce angiogenesis". I would be interested to hear from anyone with rosacea which did not respond to standard treatments (oxytetracycline/metronidozole/clindamycin) who was subsequently treated in this way.
20851793 tn?1537398597 I was told you should not drink while on those these prescriptions but a little is ok, unless binging you should just skip a dose... is there a way around this? I do enjoy my happy hours? Why does it take so long for accutane to work? Why did this happen? I just want my face clear again? I feel so frustrated and upset. Thank you for your insight.
Avatar n tn I am 28 and have had rosacea for about 1 year now. My skin is severely dry, tight and flaky. My cheecks are always extremely red. Rosacea sufferers are not supposed to use exfoliaters, so how am i supposed to get rid of the dry flaky skin? I cant use cover up because it only highlights the dead skin and i dont like going out in public with my skin all red and flaky. HELP. I dont want to take antibiotics. Does anyone know of any natural remedies?
Avatar n tn I expressed my concern to my doctor, but she said that she felt that 40 mg was actually a low/moderate dose for my size, and that 60-80 mg would be normal for my size. This doesn't seem consistent with the information I've read. She said she didn't want to go too low because she didn't want me to have to take Accutane longer than 6 months.
Avatar n tn My whole face is really red to, and stops at my neck. I do have acne, and have been on Accutane for about 4.5 months. I dont know if this may be the problem or what else?
Avatar m tn the first doctor had now idea but ruled out seb derm and rosacea, the 2nd doc thought I might have rosacea because when he pressed it turned red so put me on accutane 10mg for 2 months...went to another doc got told same as 1st but mentioned sensitization of the skin...went back to a follow up appointment with the 1st doc who has now decided to agree with the 2nd doc even though on my appointment I asked if she could see any signs on rosacea and she said no...
Avatar m tn m still unfazed about what accutane can do to my bones. There is a very minimal amount of research done on low dose accutane and it's side effects including that on epiphyseal plate available on the net. I guess it's a relatively novel thing?
Avatar n tn I have had a rash on both of my cheeks for two months now and have not been able to clear it. My dermatologist had me use otc hydrocortizone for two weeks, .05% desonide for two weeks and a three week course of prednisone and it has not cleared. When I was taking prednisone and moisturizing liberally it seemed to be getting better but when i worked over the weekend and was only able to to moisturize at night it went back to the same as before.
Avatar m tn Roughly two months ago I used a very potent topical corticosteroid, Clobetasol Proprionate, for around three weeks. Shortly after this I began breaking out excessively (I was on accutane earlier this year, so I was used to being clear). Ever since then I have not stopped breaking out on my face. The steroid was applied to my lower stomach area, and behind my arms. I have since researched the ointment, and it states that acne is a side effect.
1415174 tn?1453243103 except for being on low-dose antibiotics when you believe a flare-up is coming. Some people need to stay on these for much of their lives. Your ought to consider having antibiotics on hand for when you see or sense a flare-up. They are the quickest and best way to try to avoid a bad flare-up. There is a panoply of antibiotics that work. They really work nicely in the correct dosages. That's a discussion for you to perhaps have with your dermatologist.
1155893 tn?1263018015 It will. The cream has been around for ages. I use daily, and it has gradually gotten Rosacea outbreak under control. Mine looks like acne. You can continue using after you are finished with accutane. Many people use it routinely to help skin sluff off dead cells. Great cream.
Avatar n tn I am on a low dose and have only been on it for 6 weeks, I do still get wet and I can orgasm but it is like my responses are delayed and I get wet so much later than I should. I am scared this is just gonna get worse as I continue to take it. But I just thought I should mention the vitamins I took because if you are off accutane it is worth a try looking into some herbal remedies that have helped me in the past.
Avatar m tn I have been taking accutane for 7 months now. 20 mg first month, 40 next, then 80 which is my current dose. I have a predicted one more month to go(and it has been helping). A few months ago I noticed my hair was getting thinner. I asked my doctor about it and he said he did not know anything about accutane causing hair loss. I have researched it and found that it does. I was just wondering if it is in my case.
Avatar n tn She recently (2 weeks ago) started taking a low dose of accutane every other day and noticed her face and scalp began to itch and flake. She is now concerned about her hair thinning and even being lost, claiming that it has at least begun to thin. My question: Is there a strong correlation between hair thinning/loss with accutane patients? Should she be concerned about permanent hair loss? If her hair is thinning, is this permanent as well or temporary?
Avatar m tn FYI, they do use low dose or subclinical level of antibiotics for chronic acne and rosacea. I think this is a low dose of doxy. I'll look some more though.
Avatar f tn ve expressed you have extreme fatigue, which means you are either due for a raise of Naturethroid, or just adding a bit of T4 medicine to your morning dose. I would vote for a raise in Naturethoid unless you experience hyper symptoms after a week or two at the new dose. But this is working off the assumption that you are splitting your current Naturethroid dose into two daily doses (morning and afternoon)-- are you indeed doing that?
Avatar n tn Hi i started taking accutane 10mg which is a low dose accutane i have completed 1 month course but i m just 15 years old and not completed my skeletal growth is my growth plate fused plz tell me how much time does low accutane take to stop height growth??
Avatar n tn Now it is back and just as bad as it was prior to Accutane. My dermatologist said that typically for someone with my condition Accutane isn't prescribed but since it worked before she thinks it would work again. I am not sold on the idea of taking Accutane as it's side effects are numerous and I am trying to have a baby. I would like to figure out what is causing this and how to get rid of it once and for all. Any advice would be appreciated!
Avatar m tn Antibiotics and other topical have not worked well enough and the dermatologist is recommending that I go on accutane. I have an app. about it in several weeks. My father had severe acne until he took accutane for 3 months at a high dose without recieving any negative side effects, which cleared up 90 percent of the acne. My mother didnt have acne. I am ready to go on accutane, but the thing is that I do submission wrestling.
