I might lose 1 lb in 3-4 weeks that way. I have recently started a low carbohydrate diet with calories maybe 1500-1800 daily and 20 carbs maximum. My intake consists of vegetables, lean beef, chicken, pork and fish. I also eat eggs and 4 oz of cheese daily. I am losing weight on this plan.

Weight loss will help reduce insulin resistance. If she is on a statin drug, consider option of taking it out. Besides genetic, loss of hair is either not enough protein or not enough calories to maintain your body. If that is not the case, then see your MD and get blood work done to see if there is a decrease of any other nutrients and be treated properly.

Good thing about weight watchers is you can eat what you like, trouble is if you eat high calorie foods (therefore high in points) you go hungry once your points are used. This teaches you to eat food that is good for you.

Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.
