Common Questions and Answers about Low carb diet vs low calorie diet

Avatar n tn I had to have a physical from my own doctor who had to sign some paper work from GHI and I had to have a blood test as specified from GHI Medical. I followed the 500 calorie diet religiously. I had plenty of energy to exercise which I did 5 - 6 aerobic work outs and 3 weight training work outs. I am a personal trainer and I was having an extremely frustrating time loosing weight after the birth of my 3rd child. Yes, I washed my hair and conditioned it.
Avatar f tn Finally, I decided to try something different...Low carb diet not to exceed 20 carbs per day. Well, it has been one week and I lost 5.5 pounds!!!
Avatar f tn I too am on the hcg diet shots as well as b12 shots. My doctor put me on a low glycemic diet instead of the 500 calorie diet. In 4 days I have lost 4 lbs! That is good enough for me!! My diet is still similar to yours but I have oatmeal for breakfast in the mornings. I am drinking 3-4 quarts of water a day.
Avatar f tn As with the hepatitis diet described above, people with cirrhosis need a high-calorie, high-protein diet. In addition, with cirrhosis, foods that are high in sodium and ammonia need to be avoided. Table 2 identifies ammonia- and sodium-containing foods. TABLE 2.
155639 tn?1251742203 If you are looking for the ability to cut down on risk factors that decrease lifespan, like cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, it's not exercise that will do it. It's calorie restriction, preferably with a low-carb diet. Exercise doesn't factor into longevity in the studies looking at the possibilities of increasing lifespan and cutting down on risk factors.
Avatar n tn I notice you said 'your program' so you are a 'seller' ok..but anywho...I know plenty about thyroid..adrenals..and coritsol levels...I use to use cortizone shots to help with my adrenels.. Im well educated in T3,T4,TSH, The diet pitch was metabolisum.then thyroid.......then its your cortisol.....then your adrenels......all the books,classes..tests I took...Not once was HCG there..hmm...these people weight loss lies here are funny..they disagree just to disagree....
Avatar n tn To lose fat--hence, tone up--you will likely need to focus on your diet. Aim for a high protein, high fiber, and low carb diet. Because you are already very fit, if you intend to cut calories, you have to be careful how much you cut. Do not go overboard here. You only need a slight calorie deficit to make a difference (250 a day at most). Also consider that sometimes the "fat" we think we have is actually just water.
193609 tn?1292183893 Well I think a low carb diet is anywhere from 25-50 carbs a day. I think depending on your weight now and height and with your activity level you have to check out what amount you need to start losing weight.
Avatar f tn 025 mg for two weeks as of yesterday, I am taking the generic of Synthroid called Levothyroxine. I have also switched to a low carb keto genic diet, I haven’t been completely carb free because I don’t want any issues with keto flu. (My dr suggested this diet). I have not lost any weight and I was really hoping I would, should I also take an adrenal supplement? I literally could lose 100lbs, it needs to start coming off... please help.
Avatar n tn I feel that taking the HCG injections and a low carb diet and life style would be the better alternative. Do a Search engine on Low Carb diets vs. Low calorie diets you'll be amazed on which is healthier. As of tomorrow I'm switching to Low- Carb. Reason being the HCG hormone helps with fatigue and helps reduce hunger and improves sleep.
667913 tn?1242704088 1, protein, carb ratio in every meal and snack. If your meal/snack has 30g of protein, it should have no more than 60g of carbs. #3, don't eat any carbs within 5 hours of bedtime. I have written an ****.*** ****.*** ****.*** ****.*** I love it.
Avatar m tn A and she said that we cannot lose weight if the body is not connected with the mind! It is a low-calorie diet but with carbs, fruits, proteins and plenty of vegetables. A lot of support and really a different approach. I am feeling very good and I love her!
Avatar f tn Hello! I am 36yrs old and weigh 265lbs. My doctor put me on a low carb/no sugar diet. Last month, I faithfully exercised doing The Firm DVD's 5 days a week and walking at least 30 min. 5-6 days a week. I also stuck to the eating plan all month, with the exception of 2 days. The scale only moved (up and down) within a 3lb range. I am very discouraged. I've lost weight before using Weight Watchers. I haven't exercised like this in years....
Avatar m tn Ditto HR said the same thing in as many words Have a great weekend!
Avatar f tn I have been sticking to a small portions/low sugar low carb. I quit my flat belly thing though-its got too much cheese and milk and I am lactose intolerant. Nights suck period.
Avatar f tn whole wheat bread slice + 3oz lean meat + 1 slice low fat cheese 1 serving of low sodium soup 1 small apple dinner: 2 cups steamed vegetables (no salt, no butter, no seasoning) serving of lean meat whole grain roll or bread slice This is pretty average, which to me seems like not enough food since I'm hungry a lot, and feel light headed until dinner. However, eating more or less has led to me gaining weight. I've been told to drop down to 1200, or go up to 2300 per day.
Avatar f tn A great place to get P2 friendly dips, salad dressings, etc, is Walden Farms (they have a website), all their stuff is sugar free, fat free, calorie free, carb free, etc. Also how you loaded can effect your first week of vlcd. I hate far too many carbs vs. fats and I suffered for it. I suspect that you'll start feeling tons better soon, just make sure to keep drinking that water!
390388 tn?1279639813 Also, keep in mind that you won't do much for your condition by trying to lose weight by only eating 1 or 2 meals a day. Eat smaller low calorie, high protein meals spread out throughout the day and I am sure you'll feel better. Protein and a little bit of fat slows down digestion and slowly releases carbs into the blood stream, which is most likely why she told you to have protein, a little bit of fat, and some carbs with each meal.
Avatar n tn low carb, low calorie, fruit diet, Phentermine, Meridia, you name it, I did it, with not much avail. However, whatever diet I'm on, I only lose on the week that my birth control hormones are inactive. I have to see my endo this week and he'll have to do some research for me. Hopefully we can come up with a solution. Cytomel gives you more energy, so the more energy you have the hungrier you are. As long as you can control your cravings with Cytomel you shouldn't see much of a difference.
Avatar n tn The whole point of taking hcg is so that it will burn your abnormal fat reserves and not your structural fat. Structural fat is necessary, it surrounds and protects your joints. So in a few years, when you begin to have joint damage and pain, you'll know why. When you go on a "diet" of low-calorie, low-carb and all that other **** you are not solving the problem. Also, didn't the FDA approve YAZ? The birth control pill or patch-whatever the hell it is.
Avatar n tn I gained 9kg in 6 months due to hypothyroidism. But even when I was hyperthyroid for a year I still lost no body fat (had muscle atrophy however) due to severe insulin resistance (due to eating refined sugar (never overeat due to a poor appetite) which worsened when I was hyperthyroid). But with your symptoms of constipation etc it looks like you are still undertreated. I've lost 13 kg so far and the first 12 kg lost without any exercise.
579258 tn?1250652943 Seriously, my sweet tooth is a junkie who will stop at nothing! Everyone's different. I'm not into ultra-low carb diets, and I don't eat meat. What has helped me a lot is that I stopped eating anything with artificial sweetener in it. Even though diet drinks have no calories, that strong sweet flavor sends messages to my brain to eat! A bottle of diet coke doesn't satisfy me, it makes my stomach anticipate food. I also avoid processed/salty stuff and use salt sparingly in my cooking.
Avatar f tn I have started counting carbs and eating low cholesterol foods. I'm trying really hard to exercise at least 30 min every day. But nothing changes! I'm so desperate to loose this weight and live, that I'm thinking of going to a fat camp. I refuse to do gastric bypass, it's cheating and risky. Does anyone out there have a suggestion that will help me improve the efficiency of weight loss? While I'm exercising, is there something else I could be doing? Any suggestions are welcome.
Avatar m tn As requested, here is a list of some healthy low calorie meals for you; A healthy breakfast; in less than 200 calories. It is always a good idea to stick to cereal, as it's fortified with lots of vitamins and nutrients a dieter could normally miss out on,...
Avatar n tn I agree with you that the quick rate of weight loss is from the 500 calorie a day diet. Those that have done the diet say they are not hungry - that is from the release of KETONES into the bloodstream from the accelerated fat loss..........high ketone levels = no hunger. Again, like many of these diets out there making people rich, we are paying out our hard-earned dollars on something that has no science behind it.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you radically rethink your diet. Eat low - very low carb, moderate protein and high healthy and minimally / non-processed fat (butter, cream, animal fats, cold pressed nut and olive oils, including coconut, avocado). You can research the approach online. Plenty of non-starchy vegetables. By eating low carb and high fat, you can get enough calories for your body, but should not gain weight.
Avatar f tn The problem is I'm losing weight.. Any suggestions how I can eat a low carb diet but not lose weight at the same time? I just don't know what to do. Thanks! Also, can you tell me if eating a half cup of Fiber one cereal with one cup of milk would raise my blood sugar a lot? I eat that every morning. Thanks so much for your help.
Avatar f tn Yes, exactly, because the body needed that fat to create energy for the very low calorie intake. SO you really dont lose the fat, you use the fat, which in turn is like losing but not. And yet still, is not a pound a day. By the way, the 2000-2500 is for people who work out, and eat healthy. If you are overweight, not working out, and dont have a physical routine in any way, you shoudl be eating about 1500 or arond there. And all those are for maintenance not for losing. 1000-1200 to lose.
