Lovenox and inr

Common Questions and Answers about Lovenox and inr

lovenox

Avatar f tn I would not be comfortable with having a mechanical mitral valve and an INR of 1, because an INR of 1 is the same as not being anticoagulated at all. Which brings up the question, was the result even correct? If you have been in range for a long time on a stable dose of coumadin, then what the heck happened to drop you down to the same INR as someone who is not even on coumadin at all? I would want to know either how my INR got so low, or if there is no known reason, was it a false result?
942410 tn?1274047074 I am on Cardizem sr 120mg once a day and 5 mg warfin and of course lovenox for the 10days..I will be checking inr on Monday and adjust if needed!! I was wondering if you are having same side effects from ablation??? Do they do a third ablation???hahaha I hope I would not need???
Avatar f tn My Lovenox prescription was for 12 days. Now just on Coumadin 5mg daily and INR has come down to 3. If you cannot tolerate Coumadin you may be "stuck" with Lovenox because of it's ability as an anticoagulant.
Avatar f tn I have a blood clotting disorder and have been taking lovenox my whole pregnancy. My doctor said I'll be on it 6 weeks after birth and then there is no longer extra risk so you should be all right at this point.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with lupus anticoagulant blood disorder. I have a leg full of clots that won't break up and go away. They have been treated for 3 years with warfarin, lovenox and cumadin. All to no avail. My gp doctor doesn't seem to have the knack to getting the INR levels stable. I've been at levels of 6 and 6.5 many times leading to ER transfusions. Last week it was 1.1 I'm worried because the symptoms are so much worse lately.
Avatar n tn I went to the hospital for blood work and a cat scan. All turned up well. My blood reading was INR 1.83 and pro time 21.7. I am now experiencing lack of energy, slight fever. What can I do? I am taking 2 mg of cumiden at this time (as of yesterday). I was taking 5 mg of cumiden and 100 mg of lovenox at 12 hour intervals for six days prior to this new dosage.
Avatar n tn If your brother was hospitalized due to mini strokes he may have been given anticoagulants to dissolve clots and keep the blood thin. The side effect is bleeding. The bruise could be due to that. INR, bleeding time, clotting time etc should be done and he must consult his doctor immediately-ASAP as he could also be bleeding internally. Take care!
14129151 tn?1433037840 After 5 days on heparin/erixtra he stayed only on Cumadin, though at a high INR, and developed symptoms from a larger clot, now on the julgular vein. he was moved back to heparin and then to lovenox. Then it was noticed that some of his lymph nodes were a bit enlarged around neck and lungs (1.8 cm the largest). They did several ct scans, pet scans, mri, and 3 biopsies to try to diagnose. 2 of them, a core and a surgery, werent able to get tissue from the lymph nodes.
Avatar f tn s and is in a nursing home. She also has problems with her protime/inr. I had a protime yesterday and the inr was 2.9. I have actually been in range the last three tests. It is a pain having to give up certain foods and be careful of the meds that interfere with coumadin. So many things interfere with the levels.....heat, cold, altitude....list goes on. Also if any type of surgery is required, such as a colonoscopy, then you have to be bridged with Lovenox injections while off coumadin.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, my result is in the other direction, my INR went down, or I just got a lower INR due to my recent diet. And I see I got my direction backwards in my initial post. My most resent INR reading was lower than desired/usual. A big stress issue here at home did upset my eating habits, that may be the reason. In discussion with my EP today I decided to just live with AFib.
Avatar m tn When I was monitored which was 1x wk due to my inr going all over, the nurse also listened to my lungs each time. If your inr goes down you can ask for lovenox shots until it goes up. I carried and still carry a lovenox shot everywhere with me- if you feel symptoms of PE: a very fast heart rate, pain, trouble breathing, you can inject it and go to an er immediately. I was told not to do any exercise except walking until the clot dissolved as anything else could dislodge it.
Avatar n tn Thanks for your answer. My cardiologist mentioned stopping the warfariin and going with lovenox for 3 days prior to a cathererization but said there was no need for plavix to be stopped.
1569985 tn?1328247482 I have to go off my Warfarin for a colonoscopy. The cardiologist's nurse said ask the doctor doing the procedure how long I should be off of the Warfarin. Doctor says ask the assistant when she gives me my instructions. Assistant says, "Oh, I'm supposed to tell you? Do you need a bridge medication like Lovenox?" Makes me a little nervous going off of it anyway and now this.
Avatar f tn I went to the er again, they kept me overnight and said they could feel something going on which was a sign of a clot. I was given a shot of lovenox as my inr had gone down and then in the morning ultrasound was done. That was negative but I'm sure I had something going on in that leg too. When I discussed it all with my hematologist later(he was the one to tell me to go to the er with my symptoms) he said he thought all the clots were there originally from my first hospitalization for dka.

Avatar n tn The INR will not stay regulated and I have been on Lovenox injections numberous times. Therefore, I am seriously considering having a tssue valve instead of a mechanical valve this time. I know there is a chance of having to have a "redo" for the tissue valve so really worrying about that situation. Hopefully by the time to redo the tissue valve another option will be available for surgery.
1299014 tn?1273247877 I found out that I am a FVL (heterozygous) six months ago after a history of seven unexplained miscarriages all over seven years of marriage. I had two spontaneous pregnancies, four insemination and one in vitro fertilization ( 2 embryos) ,all ended with miscarriage as early as 5 weeks (8 weeks at most). In my eighth pregnancy (miscarried two weeks ago) I had heparin shots twice a day ( clexane 0.2 -2000UI anti-Xa) plus baby aspirin and I lost the fetus in 5 weeks.
Avatar n tn According to my Dr. many women with Ovarian Cancer develop bloot clots. Be glad she is not on Lovenox and having to give herself shots in her tummy daily. For 4 shots, it is $1200, not covered by my insurance. I was in bed so much after Doxil also and should have been wearing the compression socks to prevent blood clots. I have not been on hormone therapy. I am on the shots and Coumadin (Warfarin).
770426 tn?1235061489 m taking 7.5 a day plus a full aspirin. My INR last Tuesday was 2.8 and I go back tomorrow for another check. I'm still getting regulated. I saw something that said to report a headache if it's the worst headache of you life but this is just a miserable, nagging kind all around my eyes and forehead.
338416 tn?1420045702 ve been taking it as easy as possible since. Back at work today. They checked my INR this morning, and found that I was at therapeutic levels. With the injection I took this morning, I will probably be a bit too high tomorrow - so they're reducing my Coumadin temporarily. But the good news is now I can stop the Lovenox. Oh, and I lost 6 pounds. Not the best way of losing weight, but I have no appetite in a hospital (although this was the first time I was the one in the bed.
770426 tn?1235061489 Hi - I'm new to your forum and I'm so happy I found this site. There is so much great information here and with my upcoming PVI ablation, I'll probably drive you all nuts with questions after the procedure. I was diagnosed with paroxysmal afib exactly 2 years ago and I'm extremely symptomatic when in afib. I've been somewhat controlled on Flecainide up until a few months ago.
Avatar f tn Today I take 20mg of coumidin and lovenox shots and am still not therapudic. protime is 1.73 I go to a hemotologist on the 22nd of June. I also just had a echocardiogram done as a follow-up. They found I have only 2 valves on my tricuspid and a hole i my heart. Also my ejection fraction rate is about 50% What should I be doing. Should I persue going to the Cleveland Clinic?
Avatar n tn On 12/1 I had a complete metabolic profile drawn for a routine endocrinology follow up and LFTs then were ALT 17 and AST 18. The Sectral and Lovenox were initiated before my preop labs on 1/29, which showed LFTs elevated (ALT 120, AST 59). I am concerned that the Sectral has been toxic to my liver and want to stop the medication now. I will be having labs repeated on 2/13, and will see the gastroenterologist again on 1/21.
Avatar m tn he has been on coumadin since initial diagnosis and also his doctor put him on lovenox shots for ten days. The lovenox was also given short term when he was diagnosed. There was another ultrasound done when he injured his leg and now they are not sure if he developed another clot or if this is the same clot.
Avatar n tn Every scan that has been run reveal no DVT. I have been placed on Lovenox indefinitely and had an IVC filter put in (even though they are not sure where the emboli are coming from). Are there any other tests I can inquire about? Is it common to have a PE with no evidence of a DVT? Am I realisticly looking at Lovenox for the rest of my life? I am a 32 year old male with no prior history and according to the doctors in good health.
Avatar n tn As far as I know lovenox is no reason to perform a c section. If you are unsure, then please ask your Dr. why he/she wants to deliver you this way. Your wishes do count and it's important you feel comfortable and confident in how the actual delivery takes place.
Avatar n tn My question is---how do you find out if the clot is separated and is not a threat? I need to get back to work and my life. Please help if you can. Thanks and God bless you.
Avatar n tn If your father is taking Coumadin and his INR is high, the blood thinning can be reversed with intravenous medication, called Vitamin K, before the procedure. Even if his blood had already been thinned with Coumadin, he will receive intravenous Heparin blood thinner. Heparin works immediately, and the effects only last for a short time after the drug is stopped.
Avatar f tn t argue or comment on your doctors opinion on the necessity of taking it while also on Lovenox and I definitely agree that Lovenox and Folgard are MUCH more important rather then just the aspirin, but if he is of the opinion that they do two different things and you are not taking the aspirin to cover off the missing 12 hours, according to my hematologist, taking only one dose of Lovenox per day wasn't covering me off all day (which is where I obtained the information that it is short lived
