lovenox

Avatar n tn For me, I had a wonderful delivery after my epidural (before the epidural was hellish...), it was calm and I was relaxed and could focus on the details of the moment.
1320677 tn?1305757368 is it painful to have a catheter? Ive heard most of the girls that get an epidural also has the catherter done because they can't pee on their own. im hopping if i do get an epidural i don't have to get a catherter. i don't want it!
9442948 tn?1406816451 Cassie have you had an epidural and catheter
Avatar f tn Normally catheters are used (at least for labor and delivery) for someone that can't go to the bathroom themselves. That can be either from the trauma of the birth or due to an epidural. I've had some nurses put a catheter in when I have had an epidural and some haven't. Just depends I guess. I've never had a c-sec so I don't know about that part.
9663463 tn?1407525554 I had an epidural and chose not to have a catheter.
281219 tn?1219114914 ll tell you to stop taking Lovenox 24 hours prior to c-section and if not, as there is a risk to hemorrage with an epidural, if you do need an emergency c-section or a c-section before the 24-hour timeframe of being off Lovenox, they advised me that I'd be put under general anesthesia.
Avatar f tn You only get a catheter if you get the epidural and it would be after
Avatar f tn They do something called a straight cath which means every 4 hours or so they stick a catheter in you and drain your bladder. Now if you have a spinal they will stick a catheter in you bag and all. And they will keep it in you where as with the straight cath they just stick it in to drain every few hours and take it back out.
Avatar f tn Does it hurt when they insert a catheter in? Do the do it before or after they give you the epidural? I'm extremely nervous about the epidural and catheter process... Please help!!! I'm scheduled for c section in 12 days!!!
1414636 tn?1288284680 I've used lovenox with my last pregnancy and with this pregnancy due to a blood clotting disorder. Lovenox is perfectly safe. does not cross the placenta but thins the blood just enough and very evenly to prevent blood clots. there are no side effects except maybe I bruised slightly easier.
Avatar f tn When i had an epidural they didnt put a catheter in and keep it in there but every few hours they would insert a small one just to empty my bladder then take it right out. this was in England so not sure if this is different in diff countries etc.
Avatar f tn It seriously isn't that bad. I had to have one when I had surgery a couple weeks ago. Mind you, I was knocked out with anesthesia when they did it, but I am positive that if you get an epidural they will put that in first, then the catheter so you don't feel it. Once it's in you're not gonna feel it anywaye because you'll be numb from the epidural. I wasn't numb after surgery and still had the catheter and could barely even feel it.
1577200 tn?1331725719 t do the epidural/spinal until you are on the operating table at my hospital and then they lie you down immediately after putting it in because its going to take effect quickly. right after you are down, they drape everything up and get started...its a pretty quick procedure actually. You feel the catheter going in but its not painful, more like pressure. I think the puncture for the epidural was worse :)....and even thats not that bad.
Avatar f tn How long does it take to administer a epidural. And can you get it as soon as you get to the hospital or do they make you wait?
Avatar f tn They have you sit on the edge of the bed feet on a chair and usually a pillow on four stomach, they clean te area, insert the needle an catheter then push the meds and tape it i place. You'll have a pump connected to it...
Avatar f tn The catheter didn't hurt as I thought it would and the epidural doesn't hurt because they numb it..
Avatar f tn s just now hitting me all if the weird things that might happen during labor. Do they always put a catheter in or is that just if you get an epidural? And I mean one through your urethra.
Avatar f tn I had a catheter with my 2 previous deliveries..
Avatar f tn Yea they put my catheter in right after my epidural and took it out after birth
Avatar f tn Well u kinda need one if you are getting an epidural bc u won't be able to feel a thing passed your waste so u cant walk to the bathroom . they usually put it n once u have the epidural so u dont feel it go in. And it'll stay in until after baby and your epidural wears off . its just a tad uncomfortable coming out but thats about it .
5981907 tn?1383748869 My friend said you dont feel the catheter going in as you have the dreaded epidural and it only stays in 24 hours, i aint looking forward to c section the epidural or catheter either in fact im petrified lol
8793709 tn?1409594060 It might depend on where you're at, but you do not get an enema for a vaginal birth. I don't know about c section. I've never had an epidural but the Iv and catheter were no big deal.
1320677 tn?1305757368 t know from it happening to me, but when i was there when my little brother was born when i was 9 i remember my mom getting the epidural and them having to give her a catheter. Its because like you said, once you get it you can't control bladder function therefore if your body needs to pee its just going to do it on its own since you can't feel anything down there.
8162792 tn?1411791259 I'm being induce on Monday and really don't want the epidural. Did you lady's have them or not and how bad was it without?
5981907 tn?1383748869 The catheter is more of a discomfort in general, not so much pain. The epidural is a local and you will be on cloud 9; till they push Pitocin.
Avatar f tn ( but I must have the epidural because no way am I doing it all natural lol
11928406 tn?1431049111 Yes! I had an epidural catheter. It remains in your back and it's like a pump that allows when you want to receive the medication for the pain. Here is a link that better explains it! Hope this helps. http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Epidural-anaesthesia/Pages/Howitisperformed.
Avatar n tn The procedure requires a series of three injections. First, a catheter (a small tubing) inserted in the Epidural space up to the area of scarring. This is done in the operating room under sterile conditions using fluoroscopy (x-ray vision). This catheter is secured to the skin with dressings and tapes. The first injection of medications is made via this catheter. The patients are then kept in the hospital overnight. The second injection is done the following day.
