My doctor recently switched me from Lotrel to Valturna for my high blood pressure, however, it's not working for me. In fact my BP went from 138/88 to 160/100 while taking Valturna. I asked my doctor to add HCT, however, because I developed a rash from taking a sulfa antiobiotic 10 years ago, he doesn't want to take the chance. So he put me back on Lotrel along with the Valturna. He said as my BP comes down, he'll adjust the meds.

I have been on cozaar for 15 years. 4 years ago I was also placed on HCTZ, due to increasing BP. 7 weeks ago, after getting quarterly labs done, my PCP said my calcium was too high and took me off the HCTZ. She also said my TSH levels were high and placed me on synthroid. Last week I had office visit and my BP was 150/90. My doctor then put me on metaprolol. I started getting headaches every day. My BP remained at 150 to 160 over 90 to 100.
I had a problem before with Potassium loss from HCTZ. I was taken off of it when I went to the emergency ward, for certain symptons. My pressure is fine now unless Im in a Dr.s office. .... Now I take Fosinopril 40 and Verapamil 80 twice a day which is working perfectly.. The last docter wanted to try me on HCTZ once more telling me to drink alot of orange juice. After a month of taking it he realized I dont need them. My pressure goes up with anxiety of docters.
I've been lactating and wasn't sure if I was pregnant. My doctor did a blood test to see if I was and also did a hormone test to see why I was lactating if by chance I wasn't pregnant. Also at that visit she put me on hctz because I've been retaining water and wanted me to take it every other day. HCTZ is a common and relatively safe and inexpensive medication that doe not cause angle closure glaucoma. Since you are having new symptoms I suggest you see an Eye MD ophthalmologist for an exam and evaluation.
Even though I was taking Lopressor, I had several instances where my heart went crazy and the beat shot up to 128-146. I was taken back off HCTZ and it is out my system but I am left with a worse heart rate in the sense that I am taking more drugs to keep my heart rate down. I have a rapid heart rate, low-normal blood pressure and arrythmias. I am currently taking Acebutuol but it is not working well for the rapid heart rate.
On May 12, I stopped taking HCTZ. I had read that some had had problems with HCTZ and sweating. Gradually, I seemed to have less sweating. Also, the feeling of being hot most of the time seemed to lessen. It is summer, and I do get hot, but others are hot, also. When I do sweat, it seems like a more normal sweat. I don't have sweat pouring down my face and into my eyes as much as I did, and my clothes don't become as wet.

First of I'm 22 years of age, male about 6'2 kinda muscular 228 pounds, and pretty active. I've been diagnosed with hypertension and was put on losartan 50mg/hctz 12.5mg by my cardiologist when my blood pressure was running about 150-160/80-90 consistantly about 2 months ago.
I take 25 mg of Hydrochlorithiazide. Would there be anything wrong with taking Cayenne 455 mg as well? Cayenne is supposed to normalize blood pressure.
Lisinopril doesn't have a diuretic in it unless it is the combination lisinopril-hctz

Nonetheless, to be on the safe side I was given a nuclear stress test - everything turned out just fine, my cardiologist said my heart is perfectly normal. The only problem was the high heart rate - when I went to get on the treadmill my heart rate jumped from 90 bpm to 145 bpm.
m a 60 year old female taking Lotrel 5/20 and 25 mg Spironolactone for hypertension. (I started on HCTZ, however, after 3 months I developed a vascular rash on my arms which my doctor said was a reaction to the HCTZ and the sun so he switched me to Spironolactone). My BP has come down too low....I was getting readings of 98/58...so my doctor told me to take the Spironolactone only 2X per week. Would it be more effective for me to take 1/2 tablet everyday rather than a whole pill twice a week?
I had thyroid cancer in September and following surgery with the normal iodine treatment this is what I have experienced. I have been hospitalized 6 times for dehydration and nausea. I consistently vomit everything that I eat or drink. I have had a CAT scan, blood work, upper GI test and all those are normal. I am desperate for a diagnosis and recovery. I am 58 years old and have been in pretty good health.
I'm 57 years old male with permanent AFIB and High Blood since 2002. I am taking Propranolol, Digoxin, Warfarin, Zestril/hctz, and Crestor. I've seen a cardiologist in 2010. He tried a cardioaversion it worked for a few days and went back. He seems to think it was my sleep apnea that caused it to go back. I went on a BI-PAP machine since then in July 2010. Nothing is really getting any better. I get weak,light-headed and foggy at times. How should I proceed with my treatment?
They did lower my pressure though. Along with these, I took HCTZ 12.5 mg which also have me those same sided effects. Doctor took me off ALL BP meds and my nose bled uncontrollably and I wound up in the hospital and was given clonidine as my pressure reached 100/97. Now I'm on 100 mg of losartan, no HCTZ, only a cough but....my pressure is not controlled and goes up as the day progresses. Any suggestions for something that works without these awful side effects?
These beta blockers caused me so much problem that I requested him to give other medications like HCTZ. Now I am on HCTZ 25 mg. BP stays around 140/77-pulse around 60 but I feel chest pain two hours after taking and bp shoots up in the night off and on. Please help me with your comments and suggestions. Thanks.
