I have been a dancer since I was 3; which is part of the reason I tend to lean towards Zumba. I got shin splints running and my body hurt all the time.. I don't have that with Zumba. Honestly; I would do any dance cardio that would keep me motivated to keep going. Zumba just happens to be the easiest class to find.
Avatar f tn You can look up zumba and dance workout videos online and do it in the privacy of your own home if you are uncomfortable dancing in a class situation. This is what I do. Also try to stay away from fried foods, candy, and chips.
Avatar f tn well i'm no expert but I can tell you a few things from personal experience. I was slightly over weight a year ago and by just cutting out sodas and fast food i dropped around 20 pounds. I promise doing that alone can make a big difference in your health. If possible try to replace your sodas with water. Now i drink solely water. If you can try to incorporate something fun for your exercise regiment. I like to bike ride or dance. I do zumba and like to do hip hop dancing.

Avatar n tn Losing weight quickly usually means putting it back on, because the only way to permanently lose weight is to permanently change your diet and lifestyle, and that takes time. Of course, if you're grossly overweight and completely sedentary, losing weight will be quicker doing anything positive than if you're not that overweight and already exercising, in which case it will take more time but also be easier to get to your ultimate goal.

Eat healthier, have your 3 meals and snack on healthy snacks like almonds, raw veggies, fruits, yogurt... every 2 to 3 hours to keep your metabolism up. Try keeping a food diary, I suggest using the app My Fitness Pal to track calories and exercise. Start off with easier exercise programs. Try an hour a day. Cardio will help get your heart rate up but don't over do it.

Avatar f tn try a dvd by zumba or another trainer you like, and mix it up. Don't do the same routine all the time. Confuse your muscles by having a different routine every day.

Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!

The videos were very every understandable and well it thought me a lot I never knew. To me its one of those things I've been praying for but as they say sometimes things may be too good to be true. Avatar f tn I agree that you should eat as few processed foods as possible. I don't agree that you need to invest in a guided fitness plan. Look up some yoga videos or pilates, etc... even "walk" videos, where you walk to a DVD... love doing those, when I can't get outside.

The first thing to do is stop eating all junk food, such as chips, candies, sodas, pastries, white bread and regular pasta, etc. At age 16 your body isn't fully developed, so you have to be careful of losing weight too quickly.
Avatar f tn Pilates type exercises are very good. I believe the Insanity videos use a lot of those moves. But you can find videos on line with Pilates type exercises. A mat and one of those Pilates balls is about all you need. Maybe some bands or light weights. But there are tons of videos to find a trainer and exercises you like. Always do squats and lunges. Working the big leg muscles is very important to weight loss. Form is important. Or put on music and dance like crazy for an hour.
