1140989 tn?1429773263 Taking laxatives won't make you lose real weight. What I mean by that is that you may feel like you are losing some weight but it's only water weight. You will not lose fat by taking laxatives. They are dangerous too. You can become dehydrated and worse, your bowels can become dependent on laxatives, meaning you won't be able to go to the bathroom without laxatives.
Avatar f tn I recently started taking (mineral oil) laxatives in an attempt to lose weight. Which was probably not such a good idea. After a few days of taking more than then the reccomended amount , when i went to the bathroom an orange oily liquid came out (along with urine and stuff) So, what does this mean? Is it bad? Or no big deal? Thanks.
Avatar m tn Yes I remember the horrible constipation. Laxatives never worked for me. It's funny the only thing that did was a very large glass of warm prune juice. I'd go within 2-3 hours completely emptying me. I'd have to do that every 3 days. I was on oxycodone for 11 years and been off for just over 3 months. I did it cold turkey with the help of this web forum and AA meetings. How long have you been using and what do you take?
Avatar f tn ll put on weight my jeans have become slightly tighter and this is the only way i could think about losing the weight. I dont know if i should take another three or something?

Avatar f tn I started with just 1 every couple of days to help my bowels move and realized that I was losing weight from it and felt skinnier. I continued my exercising but I had just started college so my healthy eating wasn't as healthy as before. Even though I abused laxatives for this past year I have gone from my original healthy 104lbs to 113lbs and feel disgustingly huge. My stomach is thick and I can't run as much as I used to.
1103360 tn?1258309599 I am too embarassed to tell the full story about how I am losing wt. with him. I am seeing a therapist and psychiatrist that know the whole story so I am getting help. This is not a large town and there is no OA meetings. The large hospital here - Scott and White also does not have group therapies which is disappointing. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I'm not losing weight and I haven't the slightest idea why! I've been obsessing over my weight for idk how long. I have lost 50lbs on my own and that took a year (toooo slow). Then, back in September, I had my heart broken and gained about 10 of it back. I've been on this really hardcore diet and exercise for almost two weeks and haven't lost a single ounce! I'm 5'6 and weight about 280lbs!
1091149 tn?1396349503 Hello Doctor, This is a very important question for me. Currently I am on 110mg of methadone which is making me terribly constipated, so i been trying different kinds of laxatives, suppositories and pills to help me move it along. It is very uncomfortable. So I'm looking for a good lax number one. Part two of my question is that now that i been on the program for a few months im trying to focus on living a healthy lifestyle, losing weight and exercising a couple/few times a week.
Avatar n tn You have some of the same symptoms I had before I was finally diagnosed with diabetes. I was so tired all the time and losing weight quickly. I sweated everytime I ate high carb foods such as sweets, potatoes, breads, rice and pastas. I finally went to the doctor because of the awful fatique and tests showed I had uncontrolled diabetes. Please go to your doctor and tell him your symptoms....
Avatar n tn is it dangerous to take laxatives everyday? This discussion is related to Scared - what is wrong??.
Avatar m tn in turn I had to also take thyroid hormone which may also relate to your problems with losing weight. I know its a scary thought & you should do it when you & only when you feel up to it. I quit because I made my self see the true hate I had for the drugs. There is always another way to cope. Sorry if I preached too much & I hope this helped. btw It took me 3 years & almost cost me my marrige to figure out that the meds were my whole problem. Good luck.
Avatar m tn t receiving appropriate care. This Surgeon was very concerned about how much weight I was losing with him putting me on feeding tube. Head of Surgical Services then got involved after someone (Nurse) overheard what he was saying to me and reported him. Head Of Surgical Services got involved by quickly silencing Consulting Surgeon and making him disappear. A Gastro that was consulting on my case following surgery tells me how my bowels will work so well like never before.
Avatar n tn Detox teas do not help with weight loss. The ones for weight loss only work short term because they contain laxatives, which isn't a healthy way to lose weight. Real detox teas are for detoxing, not losing weight.
437036 tn?1225284804 According to standard height/weight charts you are very underweight with your weight being in the 10th percentile. This means that 90% of women of your height weigh more than you. Thinking you are not "thin enough" is classical eating disorder mentality as is many of the other behaviors you describe. "do u think i have an eating disorder??" YES.
Avatar n tn Please STOP laxatives!!!! Your colon is losing the needed bacteria to properly digest and move the waste in an appropriate and healthy manner. Do you drink alot of coffee??? If so..STOP! Coffee will dehydrate you immensly. Also, in addition to a diet change as ggreg stated...drink a few glasses of HOT water. You can also use an additive to your water that helps regulate your bowels...softeners...NOT laxatives!
Avatar f tn Hi I've been bleeding off and on from my colon for 10 years. I'm 30 and it started when I began to diet and try to lose weight. I was taking many kinds of laxatives at the time too. Through my 20s I struggled with weight and used laxatives and bled much from my colon. It wasn't until recent that I noticed barely no blood in stool but so much blood on toilet paper. So I'm definitely concerned. Do you think this is a sign of colon cancer?
Avatar f tn Listen there is no easy magic solution to losing weight. When going to the gym do high reps low weight and do the workouts fast without any breaks Lower your carb intake and caloric intake Increase the amount of protein you take in and go running often. There's a difference between training hard and over training your body is made in the kitchen . Lastly a rolles Royce takes 6 months to make and a Toyota takes 13 hours.
Avatar n tn I've abused stimulant laxatives for about 25 years, mostly on rather than off. Now, whenever I eat my stomach becomes so hard and distended it's like I'm 9 months pregnant. One meal will take all day and night to diminish the bloating a little bit. I've been reading about all the symptoms of severe laxative abuse and is this severe bloating related to this being the end of the line for me with laxatives?
Avatar n tn They don't work for weight loss...you do know that right?
Avatar f tn Hi there, I wondered if anyone could tell me if you have Bulimia if you don't make yourself sick and only take laxitives. I've really struggled with binge eating for years followed by periods of starvation and excercise, with my weight fluctuating although I have recently lost around 80lbs.
Avatar n tn I used dulcalax several years ago to help me lose weight and I ended up taking around 15 laxatives a day about 4 times a week and this went on for weeks, how I am still here I dont know. I have been abusing laxatives on and off for the past few years.
Avatar n tn I am a 20 yr old female with a history of eating disorders, first anorexia which developed into bulemia using laxatives. It's gotten to the point of dependency. I get really bloated and constipated if I go without it. I know I can cause permanent damage if I dont stop using them, but I hate this disgusting bloated feeling. How do I wean myself off without having to feel fat and disgusting?
Avatar n tn I have been having diarrhea since sunday, which would be 6 days ago. My diahrea isn't bloody nor is it with flegm, it's just like normal diarrhea like when you take laxatives or tea that helps with digestive cleansing. I have tried to look for anything strange but nothing from my point of view have I seen anything strange. This diarrhea has gotten to the point to which I had to buy cream for what I am assuming it to be burns from my gastric acids around my anal area.
