Avatar f tn It's very possible to become pregnant while being overweight, although I don't recommend it. Being pregnant can be incredibly hard on the body. The way my midwife and Bradley Method coach said it is that you're basically training for a marathon. Having a fit and healthy body not only helps you during pregnancy, but helps your baby too. I'm considered overweight right now being 5'1 and 157lbs (and that's after losing some weight too).
Avatar f tn Its good you've set a goal and are looking to find out how to achieve it! However losing 15 pounds in a month is unrealistic and unhealthy. Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
1237757 tn?1323143119 Good Weekend training, went for a long ride Saturday then out partying Saturday night. Feeling hypomanic and hungover, I went for a 20km run on Sunday followed by a non wetsuit swim in the bay brrrrrrr. Great for a hangover and the run helped burn of the energy of the hypomania. Biggest concern for me at the moment is avoiding injuries so I've started running on as much cushy grass as I can find. Seems to be working well, went running this morning along the beach it was great fun.
1116801 tn?1292254540 Low VL, genotype 3 give excellent odds and being in good physical shape is an added plus. My first doctor considered the pre-TX phase as training for a marathon. Get a 4 week PCR to be sure you have cleared the virus from your blood by then and make it the purpose of your life to take all medications every day, at the proper time (pills morning and early evening, shot on same day every week). You'll do well.
Avatar n tn The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between. Ideally you’ll be sprinting or cycling full throttle for 30 seconds with a 90 second cool down in between each outburst. This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have any secrets to losing weight with hypothyroid? Have been diagnosed now for a yr and 1/2. Have joined a gym and been eating more veg. and fruit but still can't lose any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I was born with out a thyroid and diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I was wondering if it common to gain an excessive amount of weight while exercising regularly and eating healthy. I am currently training for a marathon and running about 9 miles a day or more and I eat rather well. I can't seem to shed any pounds but actually have gained about 10-15 pounds in the last month. I haven't weighed this much since I gained the freshman 15 two years ago.
Avatar f tn You're apparently not too used to working out, so you have to start slowly and build up as you get stronger. Anything that gets/keeps you moving is doing something for you. While cardio is good for you, you also need to do some strength training. You can do that in the form of squats, lunges, or using light weights. You can check out YouTube for various weigh bearing exercises. When you do strength training, you build muscle, and muscle burns fat.
Avatar f tn m a 25 year old girl, normal weight, training for a marathon, not a perfect diet but definitely better than average. Gluten free because I have an allergy. A little under three years ago, I noticed what I'm now am pretty sure is a swollen lymph node in my groin area (where my leg attaches, far away enough from my front that I have difficult looking at it. I have tiny hands, and it's always been the size of my fingertip, so about .5 inches or slightly smaller.
15695260 tn?1549593113 As someone who has consistently run about 30 to 50 miles a week for the past 17-18 years (recently it is 60 miles plus for marathon training), I have gone through a lot of running shoes.
1066531 tn?1254969334 I’ve been working out for many years now, and i want to know how I can tone my body better without losing a large portion of weight, mostly my chest and midsection? I’m 6ft 198lbs I would like to be around 195 but in much better “shape”. My diet ***** and i’m trying to work on it, but I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week lifting weights and running. I dont run a whole bunch though, would that help my problem or will that just make me lose wieght?
Avatar m tn Weight training has the benefit of raising your metabolism for a longer term than cardio. Cardio is great as long as you can keep it up, but the minute you start cutting down, the pounds come right back. When you do weights, your muscles need energy to regenerate for a day or two after, and as you build muscle, your caloric requirements rise as well (since it takes more calories to sustain a pound of muscle than a pound of fat.
Avatar n tn Exercise is a way of life that brings your body to good health while losing weight or mantaining weight. 1-2 lbs is a reasonable weight loss goal per week not much more. Remember 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories so you will have to burn that much calories in order to lose just 1 lb of fat. Be patient is it happens slowly.
1844885 tn?1330536610 First thing you must do to complete a marathon is cardio! To figure your heart rate use the following. The Karvonen Formula is a mathematical formula that helps you determine your target heart rate zone. The formula involves using your maximum heart rate (MHR) minus your age to come up with a target heart rate range (which is a percentage of your MHR). Staying within this range will help you work most effectively during your cardio workouts.
Avatar f tn Breast feeding worked wonders for me lol I had a c section so I didn't do much but I bres
Avatar n tn All of these symptoms kicked in after I finished three months of training for a half marathon. After the 1/2 marathon the weight just kept coming off which I thought was a blessing. I thought that the exercising caused my thyroid to become overactive along with the stress from graduate school, work and moving. Do you think running 15 to 20 miles a week and lifting weights for 45 minutes 3 times a week would lead to thyroid problems? Has anyone tried taking Iodine supplements?
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Losartan 50mg in the morning ( 2 yrs) and Atenolol 25mg (12 years) in the evening. I am a jogger and have had no problems. I'm training for a half marathon and had a extreme low blood pressure occurrence 2 days ago. Both my BP specialist and my cardiologist want me off the Atenolol. But their suggestions are quick tapering. I'm on my second day and had BP problems for about 2 hrs this morning ...BP now is 135/65 HR 53. Any Suggestions ?
Avatar m tn I recently began training for a marathon after a 4 year hiatus. It seems the more I run/train, I more experience what feels like a skipped heartbeat. It happens occasionally when I'm running, but it happens most often at night, when I am resting (watching TV or in bed). It sometimes happens 4-5 times a minute...sometimes the occurances are spaced out. Agian, the more I run, the more frequent the occurances.
Avatar f tn I have mild tricuspid, plus MVP and LVH, had pvc's (54,000 daily) and Vtach for years; how long I've had this no clue, but I suspect 5-7 years. I do attribute my heart being "healthy" despite this; was my commitment 4 years ago to exercise daily. I hadn't exercised in so many years it was embarassing, so I started off as slow as I could for a week. Then I added 2 minutes per day, then the next week I upped my speed, vice versa.
Avatar f tn It works but not alone you have to eat right drink lots of water and also exercise. I do it once and a while but I really don't néed to because I breastfeed and I'm losing weight like crazy I'm even skinnier then I was before I got pregnant. I just know about it bcus I did it when I was a workout addict lol.. it gave me a really nice shape!! Then I got preggo and lost it hah. But I would do it after your 6 weeks postpartum is up..
Avatar n tn I'm not a marathon runner but I do enjoy running n ran on a daily bases b4 the pregnancy. I also kept on running after pregnancy I ran 3 miles 4 times a week till 25 weeks with this pregnancy. . I went to bike riding because my husband kept insisting that he felt more comfortable that I use a bike instead of running. He thought something might happen. So I did for him but my last pregnancy I ran til eight months. I'm still weight training.. N I feel awesome.
Avatar f tn t digest well that are gumming up the works rather than easing the works. As Gym states, weight training makes a body have a better shape but doesn't necessarily make it lighter or thinner -- muscles replace fat but they do take up space. I certainly gained weight when I started lifting weights -- most of my life before that was spent playing sports or running that were mostly cardio, but weight lifting made me a bit broader.
Avatar m tn Vitamin D helps in maintaining bone density, that can help prevent you from losing weight, while another effect of vitamin D can help you gain weight. A study published in the March 2011 issue of the journal "Hormone and Metabolic Research" found that increasing vitamin D intake led to increased testosterone levels. Testosterone is a key anabolic, or muscle-building, hormone, and it can aid in weight gain.
Avatar f tn Not if you do chest toning exercises while losing weight. You don't want to lose weight without toning up your body as you go, anyways. Doing so would only cause you to have saggy skin and stretch marks all over your body. Make sure you are toning up! Also, spend the extra money to make sure A. you have a really good supportive everyday bra and B. you have a good, supportive exercise bra. As far as exercise goes, I recommend weight training every other day and cardio on the off days.
