Losing weight while having diabetes

Common Questions and Answers about Losing weight while having diabetes

Avatar f tn I was wondering if any of you have successfully lost weight or stayed the same while pregnant. They only thing I plan on doing as far as losing weight is to eat healthy foods and not to overeat like I tend to do and to also excercise. I know if Im prego I shouldnt overdo myself on exercise but light exercise and walking wont hurt! :) I just would like to minimize the chance of getting gestational diabetes or preclampsia while prego! :) Thoughts, opinions, concerns, etc are all welcome!!!
Avatar f tn Hello, I wanted to know what kind of diet pill I can take for losing weight?
Avatar f tn a lot of women get gestational diabetes while pregnant. did the doctor test her for that while pregnant? she might have had it and didn't know. most gestational diabetes cases go away soon after the baby is born but some continue on as type 2 diabetes. and if its uncontrolled diabetes (ie not being treated) then she would be losing weight.

Avatar f tn Eating a low glycemic diet (foods that do not spike the blood sugar, in turn spiking insulin levels), getting adequate exercise and losing weight (if overweight) will often/usually turn pre-diabetes around. Low glycemic foods are complex carbs that take longer for the stomach to digest; they include non starchy vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, low/now fat dairy, nuts, seeds, etc.
Avatar f tn First is he losing weight in the face of a normal to increased appetite, or is he not eating well and losing weight? There are many causes of weight loss in older cats. For example there is Diabetes, Hyperthyroidism, (overactive thyroid), and Kidney Disease, just to name a few. I would first recommend a physical exam from your veterinarian. Based on that physical exam, hopefully your veterinarian can get an idea as to weather that tumor is a problem or not.
Avatar m tn Why am I losing weight without trying? My doctor thinks it's either from cancer or diabetes. Here's my timeline of weight loss: January - 283 lbs May -246 lbs Today - 201 lbs Mind you this is without trying at all. No dieting or exercising.

Avatar f tn I was average weight, not overweight or underweight, but i haven't had morning sickness at all really :/
1304588 tn?1299071471 I weighed 226 and now I weigh 166 but still have diabetes. Though I feel losing weight may be stopped by losing weight I feel like that is mostly the morbidly obese though I am not a doctor. My mom and three sisters and 1 brother had diabetes and were all of normal weight. Eating better and exercising can help your diabetes stay under better control and lower your A1C along with possibly preventing you from needing medication or getting a lower dose. I have been diabetic for 6 years.
Avatar f tn Some diabetes symptoms include: Frequent urination Excessive thirst Extreme hunger Unusual weight loss Increased fatigue Irritability Blurry vision
Avatar f tn You need to go the doctor. One of the symptoms of diabetes is weight loss. And really, since you were working out hardcore, your body weight should have really gone up since muscle weighs more than fat. One of the signs that I ignored was when my 13 year old lost weight. He was a tad on the chunky side and I attributed his weight loss to puberty and biking around the neighborhood more since it was summer.
1478333 tn?1287401534 Losing weight will help prevent the possibility of getting Diabetes. The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) shows that people with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) who are losing 10-15 pounds reduce their risk of getting type 2 diabetes by more than 50%. (Impaired glucose tolerance means your body is not taking the glucose out of your blood as efficiently as it should.) If you are older than 60, the DPP found that losing 10-15 pounds reduced the risk of diabetes by 71%.
Avatar n tn My year and a half old chihuahua mix is losing weight. About a year ago he was about 7 lbs and a couple ounces, and now he's about 6 lbs and 8 ounces. I noticed about a month and a half ago that his spine was protruding from his back, and started feeding him some bacon on a regular basis. He did not gain any weight from the "bacon" experiment. He would eat the bacon and his food. About three weeks ago, he went to stay with my mom temporarily.
Avatar f tn Oh man, that's a tough one, and I understand your concern about losing weight...6 lbs in 6 days does seem like a lot, but if you're eating a healthy, balanced diet (minus the sugars), I would think you're fine. Unfortunately, I don't know too much about gestational diabetes, though. Maybe someone else on here can help with more info...
Avatar f tn I lost weight with my first 2 pregnancies and with this one so far is looking like im losing weight again I dont get it.
650685 tn?1238004750 Hi Two years ago I was diagnosed Hypothyroid for which I take 100mg Levothyroxine . At the same time because of a strong genetic link I was tested for blood sugar.. I was told I was pre diabetic & that I would almost 100% become type 2 in a few years. Since that shock report I have managed to lose weight & get fit. I am 61 years old & I feel quite well .. Question is just by losing weight & keeping fit would that stop the onset of type 2?
Avatar f tn Having lost the weight I can now manage my diabetes with my diet. Since I now longer take Metformin I am having trouble losing the last 20 lbs I need to lose. Is there a connection between weight loss and taking Metformin. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar n tn When dogs lose weight this fast I always worry about diabetes. Volunteering at the Humane Society made me see some elderly dogs diabetes' cases and the first thing was that the lost completely appetite. So I would suggest having him checked by the vet so he can run some tests and find the cause immediately.
Avatar n tn The weight gain is most probably due to risperidone and even if your son is diagnosed with diabetes it won't go away. Losing wieght while insulin dependent is hard, but it can be done. You could try letting him drink sugar-free drinks and eating low carbohydrate foods like raw veggies and fruits, instead of battling over foods. Take him to his doctor and stay on the Risperidal-risperidone. Have him tested for diabetes.
Avatar f tn I'm a 36 year old female, I weight 143 lbs at 5'5 1/2, I run 10-13 miles a week (and I'm not losing weight, but that's a different problem), and after 6 or 8 hours of sleep if I drive for more than 20 minutes by myself I start falling asleep at the wheel. Sometimes I fall asleep at my computer as well. I know when it's going to happen because the feeling is always the same.
