199373 tn?1270487632 I gave birth 2 months ago, and I'm losing weight at a semi-slow pace (I'm breastfeeding so I cannot overdo it). I ordered an elliptical, and plan to workout on it for atleast 30 mins a day. I seem to be losing well in all places but my face and arms. Any advice on how to trim these two areas? Or should I just be patient?
7989976 tn?1403493624 This is my 1st pregnancy in nj and im due in oct. With my 1st 2 I walked alottt and lost the weight quick. This time I'll try breastfeeding and I just got an elliptical, so that should help. Hopefully it doesn't snow non stop again!
Avatar f tn Hello! I am 36yrs old and weigh 265lbs. My doctor put me on a low carb/no sugar diet. Last month, I faithfully exercised doing The Firm DVD's 5 days a week and walking at least 30 min. 5-6 days a week. I also stuck to the eating plan all month, with the exception of 2 days. The scale only moved (up and down) within a 3lb range. I am very discouraged. I've lost weight before using Weight Watchers. I haven't exercised like this in years....
5891248 tn?1406410864 I don't think u should try to lose weight... If ur gaining weight too quickly try changing ur eating habits... When ur pregnant u should never try to lose weight..
Avatar n tn I am 54 years old and having a difficult time losing weight. During the past 8-9 months, I have not been able to continue my typical exercise regimen due to knee pain and surgery. As a result, I have gained the nine pounds I lost and added 7 more.Approximately two weeks ago, I started to exercise again, managing to workout four days each week, although no change in weight. Any suggestions?
172023 tn?1334672284 Since losing almost 45 pounds, I've joined a gym and am now trying to increase my cardiovascular fitness. I had a scare last year with a tentative finding of pulmonary hypertension, which has yet not been proved nor ruled out. However, since losing all the weight, I'm no longer having shortness of breath when I exercise. Anyway, I can't seem to increase my endurance on the elliptical. 20 min is the most I can do, and I'm dying after that.
Avatar m tn m not sure if not having enough protein is contributing to me not losing weight. I hear people talk about how they lose a pound a week and the such, but I've run 5 miles a day for 5 days straight for 1 month and have only lost 1-2 lbs. What am I doing wrong?!
Avatar f tn I have been doing 7 miles a day on the stair stepper, but I am having trouble losing the weight. I plan on going back to bikram yoga in another 2 months when the twins are on solids and I can leave them for 2 hours at a time. My goal is to be back in a size 4 by September. What are you ladies doing to drop the weight? How is it going?
Avatar m tn I had pain in my lower calf muscles and so I am sticking with the elliptical and burning 600 cals in elliptical. I aim at burning 450 cals each day on cardio and so hit 600 which i think the machine over-estimates. I believe 600 may equal to 450 actual. I was 175 lbs and have got to 162. But I am not going beyonf that. I am staying at 162 for over 2 months now. I look a bit toned, but still have a small-medium belly. I have lost my double chin significantly. Well i am 5"7.
Avatar m tn I have started a complete lifestyle changing initiative. I am currently 1 1/2 months into my new diet and exercise regiment. I weigh about 287lbs (my goal is approximately 215lbs mostly muscle) at the moment after losing about 25lbs last month. I do cardio 6 days a week for 45 mins each time. I alternate my cardio workouts between the elliptical, the treadmill, and I use the bike and stairmaster seldomly. I am noticing great weight loss with this routine.
1666434 tn?1325262350 I have lost weight as well, however I was a big girl before my pregnancy. I have been walking whenever I feel like it.
Avatar n tn Well first let me say im no expert here ...but i see a few things. 1. you're doing wieght training so you're likely adding muscle while burning fat..muscle weighs more than fat so i would suggest you ignore the scale for a bit. 2. you might try doing weigth training only 2 or 3 days a week to stay toned and add a bit to the cardio.. 3.you may not be eating enough ..
Avatar m tn Which one is good to maintain fitness and weight? Treadmill or elliptical?

Avatar f tn Doing cardiovascular exercises like jogging, elliptical training, and aerobics are not only good for losing weight - they're essential for health. These kinds of exercises make your heart and muscles stronger, and when it comes to weight loss, is almost essential. Eating healthy, low-calorie foods only gets you so far, and diet fads and advertisement scams don't work.
Avatar f tn Is it okay to lose weight and workout while pregnant? The only thing I like is to workout on the elliptical. Is safe?
Avatar n tn Cardio helps maintain your weight so I would recommend more strenth training than cardio but if you are worried about running building up your leg muscles you could do your cardio on an elliptical machine or a stationary bike. Good luck!
280369 tn?1316702041 Is it okay to walk on a treadmill during pregnancy? This may sound silly but wanted to know! I would love to just walk outside, but... 1) it's freezing cold outside 2) We have no sidewalks and the one road people fly up and down it and I am so scared of some idiot not paying attention. I would also be scared to walk with a stroller with my almost 3 year old with all the cars going by. I just want to do some slow, light walking everyday or every other day to stay in shape.
533063 tn?1262366101 The days that I use the recumbent bike and then do my pilates are pain free. The days that I use the elliptical is another matter. While I am on the machine, there is no problem, but when I get to pilates, my scar feels as though it's on fire. It is intermittent and will go away after about 20 minutes, but is very uncomfortable. So I am wondering, is this something that I should worry about? Should I stop using the elliptical?
Avatar f tn The weight loss is terrible! I have 30 pounds to lose! I was a size 6 when I got pregnant and I was just at Old Navy buying a size 12...too much Culver's during pregnancy! I'm paying for it now! We have an elliptical and a treadmill downstairs, but Brock won't nap long enough for me to get anything done! By the time my husband gets home, I'm so tired! It's like working a full day! I have been eating a lot less carbs and lots of salads! Yum!
4528412 tn?1357069833 Some women are lucky and the weight just falls off after birth, I was not one of those women lol. They say it takes same amount of time to lose baby weight as it does the time it takes you to carry a baby 9+ months.
Avatar f tn Not my advice but perhaps some things to think about to discuss further with your MD. I got an elliptical for the same reasons as you. First trimester kicked my butt, I am now out of shape, and only do 15-20 min before I feel like I need to get off. I think listening to your body is the most important thing you can be doing right now. Biomechanically, the up and down motion is more fluid than running - which is perfectly acceptable for experienced runners who are pregnant.
Avatar f tn m 14 years old (freshmen in high school) 5 feet 8inches, 149 pounds and I really want to lose weight. But I need some help. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated. I know trying to lose weight is difficult so if anyone needs someone to talk to, or share tips I'm totally here!
Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
