Avatar f tn I'm not sure that's a factor given the amount of weight you intend to lose. At your age, you probably won't have that problem, but as we age, we get loose skin whether we're losing weight or not. Better to lose it now than later. I would imagine that if you incorporate resistance training in your exercise regimen you can work on that, but know that once you do resistance training and gain muscle, you have to maintain it or it will turn into loose skin. Look.
Avatar f tn what is the best way to raise your metabolism I've been trying to lose weight and it's not really working I've been doing everything I can and not losing any weight how can I raise my metabolism
Avatar f tn Gluten free is very controversial; works for some; not for others. Think twice about it, if you aren't celiac or gluten intolerant. There can be repercussions if not intolerant. Whole grains are an important part of a healthy diet.......
Avatar n tn I have been working on losing weight for several weeks. I have been sticking to a 1400 calories/day diet, and exercising (elliptical trainer) at least 20 minutes per day, six days a week. I am not losing weight. I have noticed that my morning basal temperatures (I use natural family planning) are lower than they ever have been. They are now regularly under 97 degrees. In addition, I am having a long anovulatory cycle with irregular bleeding.

Avatar f tn Losing 40 pounds in 2 months is pretty much not going to happen, even if you starve. You need to stop and think about what you're doing. Losing weight by any means, other than healthy lifestyle changes will only temporary and will actually put more stress on your heart than it's under now. If you want healthy weight loss tips, we'll be glad to walk down that road with you.

Avatar f tn but so far Ive been tired and Im not losing the weight. Does anyone have any suggestions? once I get past 155 Im sure the weight will fall off again. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn You need to build lean muscle and increase your metabolism to help your body start losing weight. If not, your body may think not start to think that you are trying to shed the fat and, instead, keep storing the fat (going into survival mode). How long have you been on the diet and exercising? I am 6'1" and am currently 37yrs old. When I was 22, I weighed 280lbs.
Avatar m tn When I was going to college, I took a workout class that was actually ROTCs pt class. The group encouragement was amazing!! Try looking into group classes offered by your gym or get a friend with similar goals. The buddy system is such a motivatior. Good luck!
Avatar f tn And once you start losing some weight, you may begin to enjoy exercise a bit more. Start slow with maybe walking at a pace that feels like you are working a little bit. An ipod with music you love helps. Another good way to incorporate some exercise when you don't enjoy it is to get a work out friend. someone that you meet to do it and then you always go because they are counting on you. I got back into the swing of things this way recently but diet is really really key.
Avatar f tn I would like to drop my weight down to 50 or 55. Is that an unhealthy weight? And this weight tracker thing says I have to eat around 1200 calories in every day, isn't that a little bit too little? Or is that right? And a side note, I have an injury that doesn't allow me to do any high impact sport, including running, any helpful tips?
Avatar f tn Im one of the few people with fast/high metabolism who are trying to gain weight. Any tips? Im 13 and 4'9 I've forgotten how much I weigh, sorry.
978106 tn?1285108401 Sounds like water retention. It doesn't seem possible to gain weight with what you're eating, unless you have a thyroid condition or some other disorder such as Type II diabetes, which can complicate matters. As for exercise, get in what you can. Take the stairs, park far away and walk to the store, school, etc. Or call up a friend and take a stroll around the neighborhood. You don't have to kill yourself to get a decent amount of exercise. If you can exercise, by all means, do.
Avatar f tn For the last 8 or so years have weighted 9.5 stone never losing or gaining any weight. However contrary to this I eat alot. On average I have up2 4 meals a day sometimes more. I fine that I can sit at home and snack on chocolate and crisps and then have a full evening meal. On many occasions I can have a full meal on an evening then feel hungry again later on. I wouldnt say I exercise much apart from being very mobile at work and the odd kick around of football on a sunday.
486919 tn?1280184140 Thank you for responding Barb. I have been monitoring my intake and exercise routine and I use a couple of websites to help with it...this one being one of them. I also do change my workout routine so that I won't get bored...before all this, I was losing weight fine, but since about december, I've notice it has been hard to lose weight. I know it isn't good to do, but i was wondering if I fasted for a day or two, maybe that may work kick starting my metabolism again.
Avatar f tn Its good you've set a goal and are looking to find out how to achieve it! However losing 15 pounds in a month is unrealistic and unhealthy. Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. In order to lose weight and keep it off, you shouldn't look at it as weight loss but a way to become healthier!
Avatar f tn How long did it take you to lose the weight you gained? Was it a matter of time? I have never had a problem losing weight until now and I am terrified that it will never come off. What if the meds changed me for good?! Hope to hear from you soon!
