Avatar f tn First if your body is not getting enough foods it can easily go into starvation mode and decide to hold or even gain weight. 1200 calories seems very low, especially given how much you exercise. So maybe you should keep your food around 1300 at minimum? It's hard to know the "sweet" spot that will keep your body healthy while loosing weight, but if you don't find it you will have a really hard time loosing weight.
Avatar n tn I am 54 years old and having a difficult time losing weight. During the past 8-9 months, I have not been able to continue my typical exercise regimen due to knee pain and surgery. As a result, I have gained the nine pounds I lost and added 7 more.Approximately two weeks ago, I started to exercise again, managing to workout four days each week, although no change in weight. Any suggestions?
316002 tn?1246553137 d like to lose another 1/2 stone but ive been told when you have pcos the problem isnt losing the weight but mainting it so aim for a weight that you fell you'd be able to stay at. i basically cut out foods like cakes, crisps and chocolate, stopped drinking fizzy pop and alcohol. i do 45 mins on my running machine, skip for 15 minutes and do 100 sit ups 6 days a week.
Avatar n tn Sounds way to good to be true. However, I have never tried one, and you have. So tell us, are you losing weight using this thing? Does it provide the claimed "intense cardiovascular workout"? Let the buyer beware.
Avatar n tn I have bought a rowing machine as i have heard its the best machine for losing weight & toning becasue you are using all your body. What is the most efficient way to use a rowing machine?
Avatar m tn m not sure if not having enough protein is contributing to me not losing weight. I hear people talk about how they lose a pound a week and the such, but I've run 5 miles a day for 5 days straight for 1 month and have only lost 1-2 lbs. What am I doing wrong?!
Avatar n tn So as far as I now, the more muscle you have, the harder it is to lose the fat, and that's kind of my problem now. As a kid, when I started to take my training seriously, I didn't really lose my fat first. A few years later and I'm pretty muscular (I actually want to lose that, too...), it's really hard for me to lose weight. What kind of exercise should I be doing (that will go along with a diet) that I'll be able to lose weight more effectively?
Avatar f tn For losing weight the most effective way is to sprint for about 30seconds then jog for 30seconds and keep this going for about half an hour
Avatar f tn Have you thought of keeping a food journal, if even for a couple of weeks, to make sure your getting enough calories and the right kinds of foods? You could also measure yourself to see if your losing inches instead of weight. Don't forget even if you know what your doing your body sometimes takes a little longer to figure it out. Don't stop what your doing.
Avatar n tn As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?
338416 tn?1420045702 I'm kinda irritated about it, actually. It looks like I can't lose weight unless I'm running. Which means that when I have another flare, wham, the pounds come back on. I've got to figure out the foot thing. And the bladder thing. Maybe it's just a stamina problem - as I get in better condition, I'll be safer on the treadmill. Who knows... I'm just going to keep plugging away until I flare up again.
Avatar m tn Weight training is a key element in weight management. You need muscle to burn calories and as we get older we lose muscle. Look for some type of weight training you can do with your condition; a pilates machine may be something to consider. I have an Aero Pilates machine, a mid-price range one that I found on Craig list used. You can buy these new on QVC also; go to their website and type in Aero Pilates to watch one of their presentations.
Avatar f tn -running or even fast walking (NO WALKING) for about 30min each day is really helpful (fast walking actually burns alot more calories than running and works you out more) With running or fast walking, make sure you move your arms alot. -50-100squats each day will definitely tone your legs and hips -Horizontal bicycle or situps workout your stomach (I personally find that horizontal bicycles work me out more than situps) Sooo yuup!!
Avatar f tn Too many things going on here for us to be of much help. When you increase exercise, you have to eat more, not less. Weight isn't a function of calories as much as it is how your digestive system processes food -- how quickly it metabolizes into sugar and how efficiently you digest it (constipation suggests a problem here). And you're always going to plateau -- nobody keeps losing weight forever or they'd die.
Avatar n tn I have been doing weight watchers for over eight months and I have hit a pleateu, so I started running for 30-45 minutes 5 days a week and instead of losing weight I started gaining weight. Any suggestions?
1066531 tn?1254969334 I’ve been working out for many years now, and i want to know how I can tone my body better without losing a large portion of weight, mostly my chest and midsection? I’m 6ft 198lbs I would like to be around 195 but in much better “shape”. My diet ***** and i’m trying to work on it, but I work out at the gym 2-3 times a week lifting weights and running. I dont run a whole bunch though, would that help my problem or will that just make me lose wieght?
Avatar n tn (people are saying maybe the weights are gaining muscle) I lose about 400 calories on the Skiing machine machine (to work both arms and lose weight), it says in about 35 minutes. sometimes I lose 500 in 42 minutes. Why am I not losing any weight? In fact I gained 3 lbs. Do I need to cut out weights completely? Do I need to go to the gym 5 days a week and do more cardio? I ate very few carbs for many years. I have just now started eating a few because evreyone says I should.
Avatar n tn run at 6mph for 2 minutes then run at 3mph or rest for 2 minutes) will be more effective in losing weight than if I ran or walked at a steady pace.Is there any truth to this>?
Avatar f tn Ok thank you ladies I just had well firm legs not no more I would do lots if squats and running and still losing weight lost 28 soo far it's been 2 weeks since I had mine
1612720 tn?1298346909 (I just thought of this too, and it is the case in my case) You may be gaining muscle mass. Instead of losing weight, you are staying the same by developing muscle mass. (I actually began to gain weight because of my training routine. I was training like a body builder which is really all I knew. Now I concentrate on cardio, cardio, cardio! The treadmill, the stationary bike, the eliptical machine and the stair stepper are my best friends in the gym.
Avatar n tn Does anyone have any secrets to losing weight with hypothyroid? Have been diagnosed now for a yr and 1/2. Have joined a gym and been eating more veg. and fruit but still can't lose any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I wish I could really help you... Gosh I wish I could actually be able to get up and walk around without losing my breath and feeling baby put pressure on my pelvic...
1467664 tn?1288579313 m 5/5)and at one point was 81 pounds(yuck) I lookwd gross and felt worse.but in answer to losing weight the healthy way and not only am I a type 1 I also am a personal trainer.Timing meals ,excercise and insulin are important.Cutting out carb stotally is not a good idea because your body does need the enrgy especially when you are workinh out.Not sure what dose you are on but once you start a workout plan you will see your needs decrease .
Avatar f tn You also have to be careful because of your current weight. Too much running at your current weight would put a strain on your heart, your legs, your back. I advise you to make an appointment with your family doctor and see what advice she or he can give you with regards to losing weight safely. Please seek medical advice. You also have to be careful not to lose the weight too quickly as this can cause other health issues for you. Good luck with your new food plan.
Avatar f tn I started losing my baby weight also i lost 25 lbs and now im pregnant again. I still eat healthy like i was doing and i work out 3-4 times a week. Im a hiker and a gym goer. I do everything basically the same but i dont push myself like i use to i dont over exert myself. As long as your body is use to the running a mile you will be fine. Its if you arent use to it or you over do it. Like if you feel tired or breathing to hard stop and take a minute rest thats what i do.
