You probably know that losing weight quickly usually means you gain it back later because it means you have to do something fairly extreme rather than make lasting changes to your diet and how much you exercise. Slow weight loss stays off, quick usually doesn't.

I recently consulted with a weight loss doctor who prescribed a sensible diet (moderately low carb) and the medication Adipex. That combination was magic for me. The diet resulted in rapid weight loss, and the prescribed medication made it easier for me to follow the diet. I did have to follow up often with my physician, but the results are worth it!

Avatar n tn Nothing is horrible and you should not be ashamed of who you are right now, but if you want to get into better shape then that is never a bad idea. Start by walking or riding a bike (stationary or road). This will let you control the pace and stop when you want to. Start with small goals ex. walk 1 mile in 10 mins, ride 1 mile in 5 mins. Then try to increase the distance or time weekly. The most important part of losing weight is calories.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a couple of years ago and it has since been figured out that I most likely had a problem for the past 15-20 yrs. I would suddenly gain a bunch of weight and nothing I did would take it off, then all of a sudden, I'd lose it (and sometimes more) just as quickly as I gained it.

You should aim to lose 2 pounds a week and can do that by simply eating a healthy balanced diet. Drink 8 glasses of water a day and try to have vegetables with everything you eat!
