
You need to calculate your actual calorie needs/day, based on your current height,
weight,
age and activity level, rather than pick an arbitrary figure to go by. In reality for someone your size you need closer to 2000 calories/day to maintain your current weight. To lose, you can drop as low as 1500-1700, but you shouldn't go below that, until you've lost some weight, then as you lose, you will naturally need less calories to maintain your weight.
