losing weight on prednisone

what would cause a dog to consistently lose weight even though it is eating constantly, the dog has started to lose vision in both eyes (cloudy appearance to corneas) and has had problems with incontinence. The dog was recently on prednisone but was taken off due to incontinence issue. Please help.

Does anyone know why my fifteen year old chihuahua would be losing control of her hind legs and losing weight? She started kinda "skipping" on them like two weeks and about a week ago she started losing control over them alot, she sometimes can walk w/ a sort of dragging motion but then she loses control over them and they just give out on here, it really is saddening me and I would like to know if anyone knows why this could be happening and what i need to do for her..

ve had UC for 22 years and have been on several different medications. I was on Prednisone for 14 years and never gained a pound. In February of 2009 I was put on Lialda after a 4 year remission. I gained 10 pounds within two weeks, all on my stomach. Last November, I had another flare that lasted 4 months (I never lost a pound even though I was eating very little). The doctor quadrupled my dose of Lialda, and again more weight gain around my stomach and nowhere else.

t that lucky. I spent about 2 years being slightly under weight until I was placed on Prednisone. I gained a good 70lbs and now I'm working it off. I think being active is the best thing we can do. If it doesn't get rid of fat, then it builds muscle which burns fat. I used to do a lot of stairs, but the Prednisone ruined my knees and now it hurts too much since I'm too heavy. I think the diet is set differently for everyone with Crohn's.

I've been on Prednisone on and off for the past few/couple years because of GM; been on it all, high and low dosages. I also struggle with my weight, it's been up and down, usually I've gained weight on the Prednisone (up to 20ish lbs) but luckily, I've always very easily and quickly dropped all the weight gained once I'm weaned off of the high dosages.

I as actually losing weight prior to prednisone I had lost 20lbs now I have just maintained my weight while busting my butt at the gym. Hopefully the prednisone is helping u and where its draining heals soon. There is a book Jojo recommended called coping with prednisone that I found helpful it had some good tips for beating some of the bloat and how to deal with the other side effects too. The best advice for it is avoiding sodium/salt as much as possible and increase how much water u drink.

I have put on a lot of weight after my J-poiuch. It was due to a few things: 1) The surgery cured my UC so I was finally getting the nutrition out of my food. 2) I became hypothyroid soon after. 3) All the years of taking prednisone messed up my metabolism. Hope you are doing better.

He said my problem is an absorption problem probably caused by all of my GI surgeries and GI bleeds.

t give you any advise. I am non-compliant. I am on 30mg of Prednisone. I am on week 4. I saw little in the way of results till the end of week 2. The first time I was on Prednisone I was on 20mg for 14 days. Things quieted, but didn't go away. It did, however, take the anger out of the symptoms. This time we are leaving me on till I can see the Rheumatologist. My breasts are improving in shape and color, and the big lump in the middle seems to be softening....

could it be just that your regular weight as a 19-year-old is not the same as it was as a 17-year old? Us women tend to change shape so to speak around that age, that's why all the top models are under 18 :) are you off prednisone now? I'm on cellcept, and when I started I actually lost some 3kg but gained that back obviously with prednisone. Now I'm waiting to get off pred. and see what happens when I'm on cellcept alone.

Can you take ibuprofen, or any antiinflammatory? Or, possibly call the prescribing doc? I had them too after solumed, even on a prednisone taper. Do you drink coffee? Sorry for the 50 questions haha.... My coffee is kicking in...

Unfortunately, there's no way to completely avoid weight gain or moon face as a side effect from prednisone. They are both known, common side effects and many people who have to take prednisone get them. I know about them first hand - I've had to be on prednisone quite often and often at VERY high doses, and I always get the moon face and weight gain with it, even if my eating/exercise habits don't change a bit.

ve been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and have had constant flare ups since November 2009. When the flare ups start my GI specialist puts me on prednisone at a high dose and every week I taper off. While on the high dose of prednisone I feel much better but as the dosage decreases the flare up start. Recently I was admitted into Hospital with severe abdominal pains and weight loss. I also started having lower back pain that acts up mostly at night.

Last week my neuro put me on a 3 day dose of Prednisone to hopefully offset the flare I was in the middle of. He put me on 3 days of oral pred, quite a huge dose (25 pills per day, each being 50 mg). Not only will you gain weight, you will destroy your immune system and weaken your bones. And in my case it caused adrenal fatigue with consequent anxiety and panic attacks. The is not an uncommon side effect and a case of the cure being worse than the illness. I switched over to natural anti-inflammatories and mucolytics and am happier and healthier for it and there are no side effects. How bad is your COPD? What stage are you in?

I am currently on one grain.. Just upped it by 15mgs yesterday. So total... 75 mgs.

Why do you want to be underweight? If you love sports you most likely have a lot of muscle mas making up your current underweight BMI. Get a fat percentage measurement done and you may find that you should actually worry more about properly nourishing and taking care of your body's needs than losing weight. my son has 5 disabilites and is on omeprazole for acid reflux, he goes 2 or 3 nights a week not eating his dinner (although he has lunch everyday, but not usually breakfast) he lost a lot of weight a few years ago when he was in hospital for a month for last 2 years we have fought to put it on, we were suceeding but of late he seems to have gone backwards. some nights after his dinner he starts yawning a lot looks very pale and sweats a lot sometimes when like this he vomits.
