Avatar n tn Why do you want to be underweight? If you love sports you most likely have a lot of muscle mas making up your current underweight BMI. Get a fat percentage measurement done and you may find that you should actually worry more about properly nourishing and taking care of your body's needs than losing weight. Avatar f tn How can I lose weight overall, but mostly in my thighs. My hips are naturally wide, it runs in my family, but within the past two years I've gotten unfit. My hips are wider and my thighs are bigger. I don't have much of a problem with my stomach. My goal is to make my thighs smaller and lose the cellulite. I'd like to lose about 20 lbs. and tone up my thighs especially. Any suggestions on how to do this? All help thanked!
Avatar n tn In the last few weeks she has lost weight to where you can feel her ribs most of the weight has been lost in her hips and stomach. She has never been a dog that ate very much, usually id fill her large bowl up maybe 3 times a week. She has slowed down eating her pedigree senior formula food and really only eats it when milk or table food is mixed in with it. Should this be taken as a sign that she no longer likes her food, she is also getting into the garbage more often.

I plan on going back to bikram yoga in another 2 months when the twins are on solids and I can leave them for 2 hours at a time. My goal is to be back in a size 4 by September. Avatar f tn It's not unusual to gain a little weight when first starting to exercise. When you begin an exercise program, you begin building muscle, so even though you aren't losing pounds, you might be losing inches. You might want to take your measurements - waist, bust, hips, thighs, arms - you might actually be getting smaller. You might also want to think about getting your thyroid tested to make sure it's functioning properly since hypothyroidism is a major cause of weight gain.
Avatar m tn now I am back to diet and exercise (I am eating more, but the exercise makes me hungry, but its mainly more fruit, bigger salad, etc...) and I am losing weight but slower than when I did not even notice that I was losing weight. I have dieted before and I have NEVER seen myself lose weight when I was not focused. I don't get it. I am not sick or anything and I am only on allergy medication (I don't even take it much).
Avatar n tn Wow Congratulations on your weight loss, I think it might be worth having a trip to the doctors to check everything is in order, How did you lose weight? some aches and pains will be because of the weight loss, I lost 154lbs in 18 months on my own,I dont get any real pain except when i sit on my butt to long, not got so much padding there anymore, lol.

I'm in the military and I reallly don't want to buy all new uniforms, I have 3 weeks but doubt it's happening. Lol thanks in advance!

But I have been trying but have had problems losing the weight,I had gained about 28 lbs, my height is 5in. I recently got really determined and lost 10 lbs and needing to lose another 20 lbs! I workout 3-5 times a week,usually dvds ,Rocking Body by Shaun T,turbo jam or biggest losers walk .if the weather permits I also walk outside. My body frame is pear shaped,my weight goes directly to my hips and rump !

As we exercise we build lean body muscle mass which weight more than fat so the scale reflects no weight loss when in fact the body is trimming down fat. Measure your waist and hips as a guide for trimming down. The tape measure will measure loss of inches and your clothes will start to feel looser. As long as the body is toning up, there is weight loss.

Avatar f tn Just found out today that my 3yr old daughter needs surgery on her hips, she constantly dislocates the left and now is starting to dislocate the right. I suspected a problem a while ago but I'm shocked that consultant said aswell as tightening the ligaments and muscles, he may also have to break the bones to realign her legs. Has anyone info or advise please...
Avatar f tn Here is the answer to this question. In order to lose weight, you have to subtract calories. Safe weight loss is 1-2 lbs/week, so in order to lose 1 lb/week, you'd have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase .....

Yes sitting for long is the most painful as it compresses our spine. I walk around my little bungalow as much as I can, but am sad I cannot go out walking (usually for about 45mins about 3 times a week). I am a bit overweight too, so9 yes, perhaps we can encourage each other to lose some wight.

But this last couple of years it's all been around the stomach. Maybe our insulin levels are too high - I know that I have better luck losing weight if I stay off the carbs and try to eat lots of raw vegetables and fruit.

Just thought I should also let you know that if you're breast feeding, exercising too much can cause your milk supply to drop because your body's energy is focused on losing weight rather than making milk! This happened to me with my second daughter and my milk dried up when she was two months old. This may not happen to you but just thought I'd mention it.

I have really rapidly put on ALOT of weight around my entire stomach including hips, it feels very loose but its alot of extra weight, atleast a stone and a half in two months, i have been taking bisoprolol for a heart condition called bigamini and wonder if this could be related?
Avatar m tn Most days can only bear weight on one leg climbing stairs etc. Xray on hips 5 months after the 1st flare up showed normal, recent mri on spine has ruled out a specific arthritis on spine which affects hips (wasn't suspected but needed ruling out). Im left with still the hip pain and each step I can feel through my body. They seem to swell behind the hip into the buttock, Ive suspected bursitis from the start but nobody has commented on that.

Avatar f tn So cut her down to about half of what you are giving her, even for a week or two, to see if that makes a difference. If you see her losing weight, then keep her on those rations until you get her down to where you want her weight to be, and then adjust her intake so that she just maintains that weight and does not lose any more, but doesn't GAIN any either.
