Common Questions and Answers about Losing weight by using the treadmill

Avatar f tn I then lost about 10-15 lbs in 1 1/2 months by eating better and drinking more water and using the treadmill (run/walk) 5 (+/-) time a week for about an hour or so (4-5 miles). Just because. I came back to my office job 1 year ago (where a lot of women who like to eat work as well). I was 175 lbs when I came back. Now I weigh 205...Thats 30 lbs in one year. I joined a gym in February and then hired a trainer in March. We've been working together for about a month now.
Avatar n tn run at 6mph for 2 minutes then run at 3mph or rest for 2 minutes) will be more effective in losing weight than if I ran or walked at a steady pace.Is there any truth to this>?

Avatar n tn I'm 16, 5'8", male, and 230 lbs. I just started using this app a few days ago because I'm just fed up with gaining weight. I'm not gaining very quickly, only about 15 lbs. over the last two years, but I'm not getting any taller and I'm ready to lose it. Anyway, I've been coming in well under my calorie limit and I'm feeling very optimistic.
Avatar f tn I would recommend you add a weight lifting portion to your workouts and change up your cardio... the stair climber is the BEST machine for cardio in my opinion. Does your gym have classes? I would also recommend doing one or a couple in addition to your regular work outs. Muscle confusion is proven sucessfull in aiding people to lose weight. If you do the same thing everytime you are not challenging yourself.
797971 tn?1238008431 I also am curious as to on the days you are only on the treadmill for 20 minutes are you going to go at the same pace or will it be a higher intensity speed. You shouldn't really under go your limit. You should start out at a small minute amount 10-15 and increase your minutes over time. Say Monday you go for 10 minutes. Tuesday you should do 15, Wednesday 20. ect ect. Until you get up to an hour. Once at an hour you change your speed/incline to something more then what you have been.
Avatar f tn The problem I have is, over Christmas I put on around 10 pounds, and am now absolutely unable to shift it at all. I have never had any problem losing the weight once I put my mind to it but it doesn’t matter what I do I just can’t seem to shift it at all.
Avatar f tn My workout includes the eliptical on high resistance, occassionally the treadmill and sometimes weight training for my arms. I have not been able to lose anymore wieght and am wondering what I should be doing differently. I have been trying to loose around 30 pounds for a while now and have not been able to lose any weight. Any suggestions would be helpful. thank you!
Avatar f tn So, stabilize your diet for a month and see if you are losing weight or not. If you are not losing weight, then consult a doctor to rule out anemia, diabetes, hypothyroidism and polycystic ovaries. If you have any of these problems, which can start at any age, then you will find it difficult to shed weight. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar f tn ) sorry your having a hard time with your weight , losing weight and keeping it off can be hard . i think the reason your not seeing results is because your yo yo dieting your confusing your body you dont eat so your body holds on to everything then you get and you gai it back. you have to train your body.
Avatar f tn I would suggest you to wear proper footwear and also if possible do some stationary cycling or run on the treadmill at lower speeds. Do not do weight bearing for couple of days and watch your diet during the time you are not exercising. Discuss with your orthopedician and start in a progressive way as soon as you are given the go ahead. Take care!
Brachiosaurus for cardio if I do treadmill one week I change to stairclimber the following week... The science is confusing the body.. that confusing forces the change in weight loss..
Avatar m tn Ok so I have tried everything I can think of to lose weight and I have finally come to the conclusion that no miracle drugs will ever help me unless I am ready to help myself. I asked for a treadmill for Christmas and I have a few work out videos that I am thinking of using but I have no willpower or motivation whatsoever. I work at a job where I am required to sit at least 8 hours a day and the only exercise I get is to and from the car and going to lunch.
1285110 tn?1420147378 Yes, the WiiFit is an excellent tool for losing weight. I do have a treadmill and actually really like it -- I put in my ear buds and crank up my MP3 player, which is loaded with my favorite music. I also love walking in the streets and have been doing that (3-6 miles/day) for the past 3 months, with my "winter neighbor". She's now gone back to her home state and I'm no longer walking every day, because my hubby doesn't think it's safe to do so alone.
Avatar f tn As long as you are losing the weight the healthy way, you will get the results you want, without gaining it back. Don't give up! You can do it!
Avatar m tn Its the treadmill stuff that *****. What other things on the treadmill i can do?
Avatar m tn The first step in losing weight may be walking without changing a thing you eat. With dieting, the focus is too often on input and calories. However, the other side of that equation: calories out is more important. Burning calories by boosting your metabolism through activity, not pills or diet promises, may be a far more successful way to lose weight.Walking helps you shift your attitude toward health, fitness, and weight loss.
Avatar f tn I have noticed that I have round bruises on the front of my knees. Is this normal? Could it be from strain or the impact of the jogging on the treadmill. In the last 6 months i have gained 25 pounds, so I am much heavier than I was the last time I jogged.
Avatar f tn Hello! I am 36yrs old and weigh 265lbs. My doctor put me on a low carb/no sugar diet. Last month, I faithfully exercised doing The Firm DVD's 5 days a week and walking at least 30 min. 5-6 days a week. I also stuck to the eating plan all month, with the exception of 2 days. The scale only moved (up and down) within a 3lb range. I am very discouraged. I've lost weight before using Weight Watchers. I haven't exercised like this in years....
649848 tn?1534633700 Good morning, everyone........ wow, can't believe another week has gone by, already. My week has been a pretty good one, though I'm not real happy about the weight issue. I've still been retaining a lot of fluid, so weight is still jumping from 147 to 153....... sorry, but I didn't even weight this morning, because it's been so discouraging. Later in the day, my weight will go down and I'll post then.
Avatar n tn I started a weight watchers diet on my own, and I am hoping that losing weight will help me feel better. The problem is the weight is not coming off. Is this a residual effect of the medication?
Avatar f tn I keep working out using the treadmill more but i feel like my upper body is not loosing weight and my leg is getting skinny. What exercise should i do to help my upper body loose weight too or what to eat.
Avatar m tn Skipping any of the food components is not considered healthy. Also when aiming at losing weight the protein intake may be slightly increased and the carbohydrate intake slightly lowered. The calorie requirement should also be adjusted for ones physical activities as well. Lower than adequate calorie intake can also cause weight gain, due to the stress hormones kicking in. Start with a healthy breakfast, moderate lunch and light dinner. Also keep a track of calorie intake and your work out.
Avatar n tn I am not sure what your target weight is, but it sounds to me that when losing the initial amount you developed a healthier relationship to food and stopped using it to handle stress, so now you are a normal eater, eating when hungry, and your own natural body controls are taking over....if you are at , or getting to, the weight you want, then everything seems okay..
Avatar f tn i have been on hcg now for 9 days and i have been losing weight steadly up until my 6 th day my weight has stayed exactly the same, i have stuck to the diet like prescribed. i just didnt think i would be reaching a plateau this early on the plan. i plan on going an apple day tommorow if i dont lose any weight. i just wanted to know if this is normal. Am also exercising on the treadmill for 30 mins each day.
