For example boiled potatoes instead of fries; a piece of fruit instead of a chocolate bar. Also reducing your portion sizes will help too. Any form of exercise will help with weight loss even if you just go for a short walk every day and as you build up your stamina you can go for a longer and faster walk. Losing 1-2 pounds a week is a healthy way of losing weight.
Avatar n tn When focusing on weight loss instead of measuring on a scale try measuring yourself with a tape measure and see the inches come off. It is common the inches go first before the weight drops off. Next I would look at your diet, how many meals a day? Portion size? % of fat, carbs, protein consuming in a day approx? Do you et late at night? Are you eating to many calories for your body? How much sodium are you taking in as that can cause you to retain water?
Avatar n tn My daughter is 8 months old, she refuses to eat or drink much milk and is losing weight. every meal time is so stressful just for a few laboured mouthfulls. she has been looked at at the hospital and they can find no health issues - thyroid etc. but she is now losing weight and dropping off the growth chart. one doctor suggested it could be behavioural - but why, and how could we overcome it?

Avatar n tn For your height and age suggest eating 1600-1800 calories per day 5-6 times a day. By eating frequently (within the calories per day), you will lose weight. Recommend a Heart Healthy diet to eat which is a moderate fat diet. Moderate fat diet means = use polyunsaturated (omega 3, corn oil, nuts, etc) fats and monounsaturated (olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, etc) fats, no saturated fats (high fat snack foods, butter, fat spreads) and no trans fats.

I feel like I'm losing weight which scares me, I'm a first time mommy and I don't know what to do or expect. Avatar f tn I'm 14 weeks and have lost 7lbs...was actually scolded by my dr on wednesday because of it. She almost went as far as accusing me of not eating. I have been on zofran for severe morning sickness so I can eat. I have 3 other children though, I swear chasing my 1yo son and keeping up with a 4 bedroom house is why but I'm not sure. Just keep eating, you will eventually start gaining weight at some point.

Problem is I am never hungry. I eat a small meal at lunch time and feel completely stuffed the rest of the day/night. Anyone have any suggestions?? I know some people get an actual list of foods to eat from their doctor but all I was told was to eat my normal food just less of it. I work out 6days a week something I didn't do 2months ago and still not losing weight with exercise either. If anybody knows of something else I could do or try please let me know.
Avatar f tn Your bones don't change. Why do you want to weigh 80 lb. Are you 4'9"? If you are 5'2", then go tell your doctor you have anorexia nervosa and he will hospitalize you before you go into organ failure. Maybe they can help you.

Losing weight, not eating and an aging dog could mean many different things. I just lost my 14 yr old Brittany Spaniel to kidney failure. She too was losing weight and wasn't eating. Avatar f tn Trying to lose weight can be very frustrating especially if you are not seeing results (believe me....I feel your frustration). Have you tried tracking your calories in the food diary so that you can keep track of everything that you eat? If weight watchers (a very low calorie eating plan) worked in the past, chances are, you are currently eating too many calories and need to cut back on the calories and increase your exercise. As much as I hate to hear it and say it.....

Avatar f tn Losing 10 pounds by Sept 23 is not a reasonable goal, as that's too much weight to lose in such a short time. Most likely the reason you can't stick with a "diet" is because you're cutting your calorie intake too severely. Nobody can stick to a diet in which they don't provide enough food. If you provide adequate calories of healthy foods, chances are you won't have any trouble losing the weight and keeping it off.

Use your Food Journal to log everything you eat, don't lie you will hurt yourself only. Remember you are too young to have this weight and yes it will come off but it's going to take work.....
