Avatar m tn Are the calories you're counting within a reasonable limit? Maybe your current target is a bit high. Of those calories, how much are saturated fats? Maybe you're eating very few calories, but not necessarily of the best type. What type of exercise 30 minutes a day? Maybe you can stretch that to 45' - or if it's only cardio, throw in some weight training before that. Also: have you given it enough time?

664732 tn?1296823050 You are losing weight. So you definitely lost inches. I think you are measuring your waist and can’t find difference. I think you have to be careful more about your exercise in gym. You should follow the exercise which is specifically for belly or waist. And please consult a doctor to confirm that you are not loosing your muscle.

Avatar n tn When focusing on weight loss instead of measuring on a scale try measuring yourself with a tape measure and see the inches come off. It is common the inches go first before the weight drops off. Next I would look at your diet, how many meals a day? Portion size? % of fat, carbs, protein consuming in a day approx? Do you et late at night? Are you eating to many calories for your body? How much sodium are you taking in as that can cause you to retain water?
Avatar f tn I've been dieting and excercising and I'm losing more inches than weight I want the the weight off how does this work
2150264 tn?1337222044 Good to know that you've lost some inches, but don't forget you won't get from a size 13 to a size 7, just by losing inches. You'll have to lose weight, as well. Watch the artificial sweeteners; they can actually sabotage your efforts, by making you crave more. Stevia is a much better choice. Are you keeping a food diary to keep watch on the amount you eat? MedHelp has an excellent food tracker. What type(s) of exercise are you doing to lose your inches?
1278097 tn?1325611497 The health nurse just came by and she has lost quite a bit of weight but is very healthy. She weighs 5 lbs 13 oz now.
Avatar f tn Hello all, I am 20 years old and 5'3". I use to weight around 115-120 pounds and I was perfectly happy with my weight. Over the last semester (about 4 months) I went up to 140 lbs. It was probably due to it being the most stressful semester of my college career. Still, I have been working out 5 times a week doing 30 min of cardio (biking or jogging) and limiting myself to around 1200 (sometimes 1300) calories.
Avatar f tn I worked out and ate less like you did, I am a teenager, I am 5'7" and was 170 lbs, then I lost weight by just excercising because of this fun dance team Ijoined, which I find quite odd because I still eat the sam junk that I did when I had a sedentary lifestlye. Now it is summer and I am 5'8" this year(I get taller every year) and I weigh 150 pounds.
Avatar f tn I agree that you could be losing inches, but if you aren't losing inches, possibly, you aren't cutting calories enough. Have you calculated your daily calorie needs and are you staying within the allotment?
583580 tn?1231136383 I was just wondering if anyone out there works midnights and had trouble losing weight? I work midnights 4 days a week and I want to lose weight but I'm worried that working midnights might work against me in doing so. I've tried losing weight in the past and have not been able to do so but I'm keeping fingers crossed that 2009 might be different for me.
Avatar m tn I had gained a few inches in height since the first time I lost the weight, going from five three to five six so thought staying at 145 would be fine. Well history repeated itself and I was back on 150. I lied to myself told myself that if wasn't much of a set back and told myself I'd just watch myself and stay at 150 until the summer. Well right after that a family member has broken the scale but I didn't I know that.
Avatar f tn Losing weight "fast" is not a good thing. You need to figure out how many pounds you want to lose, then calculate your calorie needs, and implement a diet and exercise program accordingly.

3156883 tn?1359463777 I heard that it does help you lose weight, but not necessarily inches around your tummy...which is what I would nd must concerned about. This pregnancy I am all tummy. Plus with my first my baby was really sensitive with what I ate...it was like all I could eat was boiled chicken (some seasonings made his colic worse) and mashed potatoes. Most veggies gave him gas too. I don't see how he could be getting very many nutrients that way, even with the prenatals...
4202320 tn?1366272200 re exercising, you build muscle, so while you may not be losing weight, you should be losing inches. You should measure yourself periodically to check your progress and not go completely by the scale. Make sure you eat plenty of veggies, which are very low calorie, but fill you up and because they are broken down so slowly, they will keep you feeling fuller longer. Avoid sodas and everything made with white sugar, flour and rice.

Avatar m tn Third week lost 2lbs. I did Jenny Craig 9 years ago and had no issues losing weight in fact I was losing approx 2lbs per week and lost 40lb in 6months. So I can't help but feel discouraged because I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I follow the menu planned out for me during the week by Jenny Craig, and exercise religiously, what do you think is going on, why am i not losing as much as i would like?
Avatar f tn It's not unusual to gain a little weight when first starting to exercise. When you begin an exercise program, you begin building muscle, so even though you aren't losing pounds, you might be losing inches. You might want to take your measurements - waist, bust, hips, thighs, arms - you might actually be getting smaller. You might also want to think about getting your thyroid tested to make sure it's functioning properly since hypothyroidism is a major cause of weight gain.
Avatar m tn Lower BMI is associated with SVR. Newer thinking is that the waist/height ratio may be more relevant than BMI at least in terms of ideal body composition. Your height should be twice your weight in inches (or more), at least for men. Don't think this emphasis on belly fat was studied in terms of SVR but it couldn't hurt to lose any excess prior to treatment.
Avatar m tn t losing weight; however, you should notice that you are becoming more toned and are most likely losing inches instead of pounds. Try measuring you chest, waist, hips, upper arms, thighs, etc and keep track of progress that way, as well as with the scale.
