Did you know it takes about a year for your body to adjust to losing 10 pounds? It's important to remember weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. I had my Nissen done on 10/18/10. For the most part, my recovery has gone very smoothly. I can eat pretty much anything now without trouble, my symptoms are gone, and overall I feel pretty good. A couple thoughts, Sam. Have you been checked for thyroid? Thyroid disease is more common with us type 1's and that could make it very hard to lose weight. Do get a simple blood test for your thyroid fuction. One sure way that type 1's gain weight is to go by the philosophy of "eat whatever I want and bolus for it". That means more carbs, more insulin, more weight and possible development of insulin resistance which you do not want!

As the first comment correctly stated, losing weight fast doesn't last and leaves you weaker, which you don't want to be if you're getting ready for basic training. Why not wait to join the military until you're ready?

It's also possible that 166 was not an accurate weight or was due to water weight. Not that gaining 6 lbs in a week is impossible, but it's unlikely. That would require an extra 3000 calories per day. Extra. I doubt you're eating 4500-5000 calories per day. :) More likely, you were closer to 161-162 last week aside from water weight, so the 163 this week is right on target.
