As far as exercise goes, get into a walking program, walking 30 to 45 minutes per day. You can do this outside in your neighborhood, if it is safe, or in a park, weather permitting, or just inside from room to room, up and down stairs, if you have them. Of course, you can substitute other exercises such as bicycling, swimming, tennis, and so on on certain days. If you have someone you can do these with, so much the better, so you can motivate each other. Cut out all sugary beverages.
