Avatar n tn Ok so my girlfriend has what has been classified as anorexia nervosa by her doctors that was much worse in the past than it is now. She has raised her calorie intake but she is afraid to bring it up to completely normal levels. Right now she is at a healthy body weight but she would still like to lose some pounds.
Avatar f tn About five years ago I was diagnosed with anorexia with purging. With help, I haven't purged in about three years. I have been trying to lose weight and have been using weight watchers. I have had a hard time losing weight with this and haven't dropped any large numbers. I'm wondering if having an eating disorder for years can effect your metabolism even after years of recovery (by years I mean about 5). Could my metabolism be messed up for life?
Avatar m tn I'm currently 20,male,Asian. My current weight is only 40 kg and I don't know whether I'm suffering from Anorexia or not. I eat quite a lot and I'm not obsessed of losing weight but in fact I wanted to gain some. But the problem is that I don't seem to have the appetite when I have my meals in public or rather places I'm not comfortable with.
869670 tn?1239964618 I was so happy at the time where I thought I was my heaviest (which was a whopping 110 lbs. Big deal, huh?) I thought that losing weight after someone made a comment about me being a little chubby would make me happier. But losing weight didn't make me happy. It's making me miserable. I don't want to go through this anymore. I just need a release.
Avatar f tn Consult a nutrition expert and he should be started on a healthy nutritious diet that will help him gain an optimum weight for his height and age. Tell him to stay away from people who talk about diet, self-image, losing weight etc.The aim should be to gain 1 to 3 pounds per week. Counseling plays an important role in anorexia. Seek professional help from experts on nutrition. The overall prognosis of anorexia is good if treated on time. Take care and good luck!

Avatar m tn If you have already reached then then you should work owards maintaining it and not losing weight further. Too fast weight loss can cause rebound weight gain. Also, it can cause other problems such as loose skin, flabs at unwanted places etc. Apart from losing weight, you need to tone up the body. A combination of aerobic, strength training and stretches works best. Many people find it difficult to fit an exercise regimen into their lives.

Avatar m tn She has lost an extreme amount of weight. A couple of years ago when this all began, she was losing weight quickly and couldn't eat anything unless it was pureed. Without going into all the details, she presented all the signs of anorexia and still does. She's been in and out of the hospital many times and near death. She and her family continue to tell everyone that it's LD.

Losing weight slowly but steadily by permanently altering your diet for the better and increasing your output of energy works long-term. I doubt oolong tea will do a lot for you. While it does contain caffeine, tea also contains balancing relaxants, which is why drinking it generally doesn't affect people the way unbalanced coffee does.

18663 tn?1198171815 Hi Thanks so much for taking my question. While I don't know for sure, I suspect my girlfriend has anorexia. She has been dropping a lot of weight, but says it's because she's too fat. Right now she is 5'4" and weighs about 92 pounds and she looks like ****!. She thinks she's FAT! Everytime we go out for dinner she only eats a few bites and then has to go to the ladies room.
Avatar f tn He has always been on the average size but when his parents separated 2 1/2 years ago he started losing weight. He is constantly doing crunches, talking about food and what foods will burn the most calories. Coaching (so to speak) my children and his siblings on what to eat or drink to burn calories. Always exercises before bedtime so he can burn calories while he's sleeping, I overheard him telling my son and his brother this.
Avatar f tn Well, on the contrary, depot shots make you gain weight. If you have been on five cycles of shots and are losing weight, then you need to find the cause.
Avatar f tn Now is really unwell doctors are suggesting anorexia but we know she eats well and drinks 3 of the build up drinks provided by her doctor daily. She had severe asthma as a child but stopped needing her asthma meds shortly before this began. Her bloods are described by the doctors as just normal apart from very low blood glucose 1.3mmols, borderline high potassium 5.0, borderline low sodium 126 and high bilirubin 60.
Avatar f tn Obsessing over food and losing weight is silly to be honest. Skin and bones are not attractive. Conult a therapist and nutrionist to get it worked out before it becomes a bigger problem. The best advice I heard was get a life. Eating should only take up some of your day not your whole life. There are plenty of other things to do. Be happy.

Avatar f tn my family got into diet pills and for a whole summer I lost a lot of weight. everyone was losing weight in my house, and so was I but I never felt, and I still don't feel like its enough. and ever since I've been stuck on my weight, I have 3 older sisters that ALWAYS complain about their weight, and I just listen to them say how FAT they are, and I just look at myself in the mirror and get discusted, I weight 126.
Avatar f tn I have suffered from anorexia and bulimia for 12 years now. I am currently at an over weight weight but started losing massive amounts right before I found out I was pregnant. Same thing happened with my daughter. Its going to be hard. I'm not going to lie to you but don't deprive yourself. Remember, restricting yourself is restricting the baby. talk to your doctor and see a psychologist that specializes in eating disorders and try to do some yoga and writing therapy.
