372900 tn?1315512302 The most common reasons for biting, licking and hairloss in cats is parasite hypersensitivity (flea allergy, or microscopic skin mites such as Cheyletiella), food allergy, and pollen/dust allergies. Ringworm or fungal skin infection can also cause patchy hairloss and scaling. I recommend that all cats and dogs in the household be treated monthly for fleas with a prescription product such as Frontline, Advantage or Revolution.
Avatar m tn found one site with some reasons cats have hair loss, worth a look. IMO its usually due to an allergy to food or enviornment this is called EGC (esinophilic granuloma complex) I can get you more info on that if you suspect this. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=1+2141&aid=195 this site talks of the importance of using lactoferrin for FIV cats...I would highly recommend it...FIV is an immuno suppressant disease and lacto supports the immune system...
709686 tn?1277432159 ve also gone through a weight issue and about one year ago I started losing weight for no reason. When I began losing weight I increase my daily calorie intake but nothing I did seemed to reverse the weight loss and today my wieght can fluctuate up to 7lbs in a week. I have been checked for cancer on several different occasions. The only thing I can come up with is I have developed an allergy to some kind of additive or preservative.
Avatar n tn I'm trying to join the air force but I'm 10lbs over the limit. To lose weight I started doing 2 hours of cardio one in the morning one at night. At first I started losing but after 2 week I'm gaining what cardio should I do to lose weight without muscles?
Avatar m tn now I am back to diet and exercise (I am eating more, but the exercise makes me hungry, but its mainly more fruit, bigger salad, etc...) and I am losing weight but slower than when I did not even notice that I was losing weight. I have dieted before and I have NEVER seen myself lose weight when I was not focused. I don't get it. I am not sick or anything and I am only on allergy medication (I don't even take it much).
5147790 tn?1364304489 t that hypothyroidism, insulin resistance or PCOS, all of which can cause weight gain and/or make losing next to impossible. Good luck and keep posting.

Avatar f tn there are tons of websites out there that can help you determine how many calories you need to reach a particular weight goal. oh, also remember that losing weight is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix overnight deal. so stay positive, keep at it and good luck! you'll get there.
Avatar f tn It is ok to drink 3 Ensures a day to stop losing weight, however, you should find out why you have issues with your stomach and need to eat regular food. It is good you are going to a Gastroenterologist. If you have esophageal spasms, then you do not have to worry about Celiac disease (gluten / wheat allergy) which occurs only in the small intestine. Numerous gastric issues are anxiety provoked and relaxation methods have helped. Hope this helped you and best of luck.
Avatar f tn I agree with you! I am having a very hard time eating...this is my first pregnancy and I'm 35 weeks....
10286987 tn?1410261849 Birth control pills can cause weight gain. You should talk to your parents about getting a different type of birth control.
Avatar f tn Allergies can be VERY frustrating to diagnose. It could be his food. Most foods have a lot of grains in them and a lot of poultry or poultry by-products. These things are responsible for a large number of allergies. The easiest way to see if it's a food allergy is to switch him to something he has never eaten before, like venison or a food based in fish and potato. Look for one that doesn't contain corn or grains.
Avatar n tn Most people can improve the quality of the food they eat and lose weight. The first thing to do is switch from soft drinks to water. Soda should be a rare treat once or twice a month, not every day. Avoid fast food and eat home-cooked, well-balance meals focusing on a variety of vegetables as well as poultry, fish, and lean meats. Whole fruits are fine, and better than juices because they have more fiber you need. Don't fry food. Use healthier methods and healthy oils.
2188958 tn?1346444891 I think that was the key to me losing weight, bc as soon as I stopped nursing gained the weight back. My second it took about 6 months to get to my pre-pregnancy weight, and again I stayed skinny until I stopped breastfeeding, then I gained about 15 lbs. With this pregnancy I am much older, and I have gained so much weight already that I doubt I will lose it all very quickly, if at all :/ I plan to work out if I can this time.
2038601 tn?1333407618 Up to 20% of the population perceive themselves as suffering from food allergy but only 1-2% of adults have genuine food allergies. The most common culprits are peanuts, milk, eggs, soya and shellfish. You will have to observe which food, on consumption is causing this problem. It could be an allergic reaction, more so if the symptoms have occurred with the consumption of the same food. Maintain a food dairy and note down and monitor your symptoms. This may help to narrow down the search.
468836 tn?1215476116 We do have a food tracker and an allergy tracker on our list of trackers to add. We're not sure when these will be available, but we'll let you know when it is. Thanks for the suggestion!
Avatar m tn ......or a food allergy. Try feeding him a Limited Ingredient Food of Duck, or Venison--something he has never eaten before. It will take a while to see if the itching stops--but also worth a try. Also could be stress from the lose of his friend. Ask the vet for an antihistamine to ease the itch in the meantime.
Avatar f tn Losing 10 pounds in a month means losing 2.5 pounds per week. That translates to a calorie deficit of 1250 kcal per day. Assuming your BMR is 1800 kcal. Your daily intake allowance would be 550 kcal. A safe diet would be eating at least 1200 kcal. That means you should do 650 kcal of exercise. Exercising that much would be tough though.
971443 tn?1282560078 I would more so be suspicious of a food or allergy to something in his environment. Have your Vet do a small skin scraping of one of these brown spots........could be a condition called eosinophilic plaque or EGC (eosinophilic granuloma complex) let us know the outcome please. good luck.
Avatar m tn I have the same issue and have found its easier to bring my own food to avoid junk food places. You are worth it and deserve to be the weight u want and feel good about yourself ..never give up and take one meal at a time. I usually beat myself up over failing my diet and really mess it up so i understand struggling i think most important is doing it for u and remember in how good u felt about yourself when u lost the weight..
