Avatar n tn Newcastle University researchers analysed a small clinical trial of losartan, a drug normally prescribed for hypertension, on 14 patients in Spain, who had Hepatitis C. The illness was at an advanced stage causing fibrosis - scarring in the liver - which would usually have progressed to liver failure. Half of the patients in the trial saw the scars in their liver shrink allowing the organ to repair itself.
Avatar n tn A drug known for lowering blood pressure, losartan, has shown great promise to stop or even reverse fibrosis in Hep C patients The link is www.ihealthbulletin.
Avatar n tn t cause me to have anything like you mentioned. I take it for high blood pressure, and Metformin for Diabetes. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn But you are describing hypersensitivity. Losartan is associated for some with tremor. I would wonder if the sound issue is not related to a bit of anxiety. I'm not really seeing anything in the literature to support what you describe with retards to sound being louder but sensory experiences can be affected whenever our nervous system is not regulated. Please check in with your doctor and let us know what they say.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar m tn As an experiment(with GP consensus), I doubled my dose of Apotex Losartan from 50 to 100 mg a day for one week. No change in BP. I am baffled. GP does not have a clue either. I want to try going back to Cozaar. Sound reasonable?
Avatar m tn I have been experiencing a low heart rate for as long as I can remember recording it. It falls in the lines of 40s-60s resting usually below 60's. i have been experiencing frequent heart palpitations(skipping beats) when in resting and working out sometime. Should I be concerned? Will I have to have a pacemaker? I do get dizzy sometimes, I also have hypertension my Bp runs in the 140's consistently, diastolic usually normal 70-80 usually.
Avatar m tn I was on losartan for a few months. I don't think that my bp was consistenlty high. I think what was going on was that it was very up and down and it was making me feel pretty bad. But losartan which is a third line for bp was the first thing that they put me on. And I don't think my bp was that bad. I have had elevated renin/aldosterone studies and low potassium in the past.
Avatar n tn I cannot remember if I took my Losartan today or not - 100 mg. should I take it?
Avatar m tn I have been on Losartan for approximately eight months come here recently I have found it very difficult to swallow my food and seems like he gets caught in my esophagus, yesterday at two different Meals I began to choke on my food I had to drink several glasses of water in order to get my food to go down with no issues. Could this be a side effect of Losartan?
Avatar f tn I am currently on Lisinopril to keep my BP down (I have Cardiomyopathy after going into CHF from a virus that went to my heart). I have had a cough which is a side effect of Lisinopril. My doctor just gave me a RX for Losartan but this med is more expensive by quite a bit. I haven't had any other problems with Lisinopril besides the cough and I am scared to change meds and take the chance of worse side effects.
Avatar n tn I'm light headed, vision narrows, anxiety when driving beyond 45mph. Doesn't happen when i'm a passenger. I have to slow down when it occurs, sometimes hitting the breaks nervously. Feels like im gonna pass out. Im on losartan for high blood pressure. Dr's have done blood work, eye doctor didnt see anything wrong, sugar levels are in normal range. I dont have to be thinking about any stressful things for it to happen. Any suggestions?

Avatar f tn Thank you so much for responding. Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist drug. I've learned that most of antihypertensive drugs can cause cough, cough that is so irritating, embarrassing and seems like you're either having pneumonia or tb. There is no turning back for me now that I am taking Tb and anti-fungal drugs. At least, if I indeed have tb, my family gets protected. I stopped taking losartan today and will take a calcium blocker or ace inhibitor instead.
2009161 tn?1327915695 I was worried so went to a doctor, the doctor checked my BP was 170/100, which was high as per the doctor, since then I am having LOSARTAN POTASIUM tablets of 50 mg every day prescribed by him, but still at times my BP in the evenings when I check is 150/100. Do I need to increase my dossage or continue with some physical excercises to reduce my BP, when ever I did some meditation for 10 mins, I checked with my electronic BP monitor it reduces compared to previous reading though.
Avatar m tn I'm 22 just diagnosed with hypertension. My cardiologist prescribed me losartan today I was wondering if this is a good recommended Bp medicine mine runs typically 150-160/90-95. Thanks, hope I can get some input!
880023 tn?1241744504 I mostly completed my shopping list for the baby, except the travel system. I was wondering, if it worth waiting for the Thanksgiving sale to get it. I never really paid attention if they ever have anything like that on sale for Thanksgiving, but would assume stores like babiesrus would offer some sale. Anyone had experience with it?
Avatar m tn Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.) I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.) Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
Avatar f tn I am a 59 year old woman. I was prescribed Losartan for my high blood pressure in March, 2012 (when I was 57 years old). Last year, in May, 2013, I was diagnosed as an asthmatic because of a persistent cough. My cough never left me in spite of taking Monetelukast (with Cetirizine) everyday since my diagnosis. My cough is sometimes dry. But when it is wet, I have a runny nose and sputum in my throat. I also use a nebulizer. But it sometimes does not provide any relief.
Avatar f tn Ugh, I hate a lingering cough. Couple of things come to mind. First, coughs can last a long time. Once the airway and bronchial tubes get irritated, they take a while to get better. So the least little thing will cause a coughing jag (exertion, changing position to lay down, etc.). It can happen that it takes 2 months to get over a cough because of this. But there are other things to consider. You can get a type of asthma related to having been sick and this airway irritation.
Avatar m tn s that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
