Avatar f tn Did you see the news about the statins? They are sometimes used for high blood pressure but now they think it helps not only the liver but treatment success albeit it has not been proven. That seems the safest way to treat your BP issues. How is your salt intake?
Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn Hi. I take boyh losartan 100 AND norvask 5 for HBP. For next month only, i will be able to buy only one of them. Which should I buy?
2191752 tn?1338280689 I'm on hypertension meds too. One side effect is dehydration therefore making sure you maintain a good intake of water is important and you won't get that cough or least, cough less. Make sure you speak to your Dr.
Avatar f tn My mother is diagnose with unstable angina a month a ago and the doctor asked us to monitor her blood pressure since she is discharged from the hospital her blood pressure is always normal but there are sometimes that her bp is 100/50 and last day her bp is 120/40 she is 71 years old and taking medications such as norvasc. lipitor, aspirin, imdur or ISMN and losartan. Please help me is it normal for her age? Thank you...
Avatar n tn Obviously a doctor believes you need it, I'm betting your blood pressure is increasing. Believe me, high blood pressure can lead to some very troublesome problems like an enlarged heart. Why not try it? See if if works for you. If you are completely against trying the drug, ask your doctor to try a drug like hydrochlorothizide, a mild drug that can reduce high blood pressure.
Avatar m tn His averaged blood pressure is 146/80. He was placed on losartan potassium (50 mg) for 8 days but there is no change to his averaged blood pressure. Would you advice him continuing losartan or seek new drugs? Many thanks. Avatar n tn I recommend you get one from you local pharmacy and lay out your blood pressure medication in it for each day. That way, like a parent of mine has done, you can look at your container and discover whether or not you forgot to take your pill.
Avatar f tn They started me on losartan 50 mg and amlodipine 5mg. And for some reason it seams like it is not going down, so I went to the ER and they increased my amlodipine to 10mg and adv me to contact my primary dr that following week. Called the dr that next week and he increased my losartan to 100 mg and amlodipine to 10 mg, 1 each per day. However it seems like my bp is still hanging out around the upper 180's.
Avatar n tn I'm light headed, vision narrows, anxiety when driving beyond 45mph. Doesn't happen when i'm a passenger. I have to slow down when it occurs, sometimes hitting the breaks nervously. Feels like im gonna pass out. Im on losartan for high blood pressure. Dr's have done blood work, eye doctor didnt see anything wrong, sugar levels are in normal range. I dont have to be thinking about any stressful things for it to happen. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn s that have been dealing with my blood pressure running 140/ 90 for a while my doctor put me on Losartan HCTZ 50- 12.5 and my pressure. After my 6 months check up my pressure was still the same so he increased my Losartan to 100-12.5 and a few weeks after I would get readings of 130 /80 sometimes and others I would get 129/78.
Avatar m tn So, avoiding beta blockers is a plus with your pulse rate, and the losartan your doctor picked is in a different class of blood pressure lowering medication. How's it working out so far? Do you drink caffeine, eat a lot of chocolate, smoke, take pseudophedrine for allergies, have a lot of stress in your life?
Avatar n tn t cause me to have anything like you mentioned. I take it for high blood pressure, and Metformin for Diabetes. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I dont know about blood pressure but I took Paxill while on treatment as my antidepressent. I would definitely ask your doctor to double check when they give you the meds though - sometimes they make the dumbest mistakes you can imagine if they aren't a hep doc and dont know better.
Avatar n tn A drug known for lowering blood pressure, losartan, has shown great promise to stop or even reverse fibrosis in Hep C patients The link is www.ihealthbulletin.
Avatar m tn Blood pressure is 180 mmHg (high pressure) / 100 mmHg(low pressure). The doctor gave Losartan Potassium and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets. The blood pressure is then controlled to 107~135 mmHg(high pressure) / 65~80 mmHg(low pressure). In 2015: My mother suddenly felt dizzy and she was found that her blood pressure jumped to 80~90 mmHg(high pressure) / 50 mmHg(low pressure). Then the doctor asked her to stop taking any blood pressure control medicine. Her heart is examined OK.
16467414 tn?1448304929 I have been using Lisinopril for high blood pressure for the past 25 years or so with little to no side effects. Started out at 40mg 1X day and have been able to reduce that since to 20 mg primarily through weight loss. I had borderline high BP since I was in my late teens so some (but certainly not all) of mine may have been due to genetics.
1008841 tn?1293598960 There was a recent thread on this forum regarding fibrosis regression and blood pressure drugs (specifically Cozaar, Losartan, etc. the ARB class). If you look back over the past month this thread should be available. There are a variety of related comments in the thread. I got on Cozaar for my tx induced high BP specifically for this reason! I had read studies about Cozaar being beneficial for ED, Fibrosis, and depression...
Avatar m tn I agree with you, I was put on losartan and didn't have high blood pressure and felt faint, tired, dizzy. my head went numb in the back and I started to feel faint on 25-50mg a day. maybe it's better to not take it. what happens in hypotension is that the oxygen flow to the heart and brain is actually reduced so you become faint which is terrible because then your cells start to die.
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar f tn I am a 59 year old woman. I was prescribed Losartan for my high blood pressure in March, 2012 (when I was 57 years old). Last year, in May, 2013, I was diagnosed as an asthmatic because of a persistent cough. My cough never left me in spite of taking Monetelukast (with Cetirizine) everyday since my diagnosis. My cough is sometimes dry. But when it is wet, I have a runny nose and sputum in my throat. I also use a nebulizer. But it sometimes does not provide any relief.
Avatar f tn t until march. Maybe my blood pressure goes too low during the exercise. Should I stop taking the Losartan during competitions?
Avatar m tn Losartan is effective drug that helps to keep blood vessels, lowers blood pressure and recovers flow of blood in the body. This medicine is used to treat high blood pressure. There are some side effects of every medicine such as – 1. Stomach pain 2. Bladder pain 3. Blurred vision 4. Depression 5. Breathing problem 6. Cold sweats 7. Irregular heartbeat 8. Nausea 9. Back and chest pain 10. Dark urine If you experience any of these side effects then immediately consult your doctor.
Avatar f tn Do any of you all take this combo?? Just wondering if all of these made your blood pressure drop too low? Thanks for input!
