Long term zyprexa use

Common Questions and Answers about Long term zyprexa use

zyprexa

Avatar f tn ll do fine with it short term but if you intend to take it long term then make sure to keep your weight in check and what you eat and get regular sugar level and cholesterol tests as out of all of the atypicals Zyprexa is the most likely to cause diabetes from long term (not short term use) but it can be monitored for and prevented.
874521 tn?1424116797 It should be noted the NMDA receptor modulates antipsychotics which are in Phase II FDA study will cause neither side effect and the company developed Zyprexa is researching a medication in that class. Its good to know the short term and long term side effect profile of any medications but the lawsuits that are on television or other places tend to overstate long term side effects for their potential gain.
Avatar f tn Yes the full information about Zyprexa including the side effect profile both short term and long term can be found on the medication website which by FDA regulations lists all noted side effects. You could read that and then discuss that with your psychiatrist.
698408 tn?1256958348 Talked to my pdoc yesterday about a long term drug. I'm taking Seroquel and Escitalopram at the mo. Seroquel is not approved here as along term maintenance drug and she has suggested either valproate or olanzapine as I can't take Lithium because of blood pressure issues and a possibility of kidney failure. I am very sensitive to drugs and usually take the lowest does possible as I get all the rare side effects. I only take 50mg of Seroquel and thats enough to bring me down.
Avatar f tn how long is long term and how easy would it be to come off it. At the moment I take 1 tablet once every 3 weeks and perhaps I should take it more often and for longer. But I don't know how hooked I could get on this - that Xanax experience scares me. Thank you for sharing this information, perhaps one day you might work in Australia. There is always a shortage of doctors here especially in the country and they pay rather good incentives for country doctors. Have a good day.
Avatar f tn I'm so sorry for such an overwhelming amount of pressure being put on you. I was on Zyprexa at age 17. It's a very very strong drug, and will also cause him to become fat in the long term, pretty much guaranteed. I can't explain which aspect it really was that made me get fatter, but I do remember being hungry for the worst type of foods, very excessively.
Avatar m tn ve takin medicines like zyprexa and abilify but those just made me get hallucinations. Please help me I am seeking for solutions that I can work on.
Avatar f tn They certainly hear all the negative media coverage damning the prescription and use of long term opiates. If we influence or change one person's negative attitude towards chronic pain and its management than we are fighting the war against us! Yes the War against Us, Against Chronic Pain Patients. You should not be shamed or harassed into this position, "stop the mess and live in constant pain." Taking your husband to your next appt along with educating him may be beneficial.
Avatar m tn The only reason that I ask is that I've heard on of the long-term side effects on dxm use is being a bit lathargic. I'm that way now and the VA did an MRI of my brain and found that my adrenal glad had begun to shrink so, it wasn't producing enough of the thyroid hormone.....I can already tell I'm got some defects from the long term use in my cognitive abilities. I'm down to 18 pills day. 1 pill every two days. The morning w/draws have pretty much stopped.
Avatar n tn Is there any info about long term plavix use. I have been taking Plavix along with Lisinopril and Toprol for the past two years after quad bypass but I don't feel very good about it anymore. Any info as in is this medicine weakening my internal organs.
Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
Avatar m tn Dear whoever may know, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder 2 1/2 years ago, and I have been taking Lexapro at 10 mg per day ever since. The medicine has really seemed to have helped my life in all aspects. Whether it has really helped or if this is some kind of placebo effect, I am unsure. I still have moments of reasonable stress at work, but who doesn't...most importantly, I don't have panic attacks anymore.
Avatar n tn The main risk for all antipsychotics long term is tardive dyskinesia but that is worth the risk/benefit analysis. The one side effect of concern that differs from one antipsychotic to another is that of weight gain and the potential of diabetes and with that one Zyprexa has the most risk out of all of them. I when I was on Zyprexa gained 35 pounds. However, that starts with weight gain and if that doesn't happen in him it should not be a problem.
Avatar n tn Well let me explain having tried all of these medications again the phrase from the site (everyone really should check it out) "Depression Central" "any medication can cause any side effect". That comes from a well known mood disorders specialist (not one I have seen). That of course depends. Antipsychotics will all cause tardive dyskinesia and put a person at risk for diabetes and Zyprexa is the prime offender for diabetes.
