Common Questions and Answers about Long does celexa withdrawal last

celexa

Avatar m tn So, now she is off the butalbital - cold turkey and says the withdrawal is hell. Does anyone know how long the withdrawal lasts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn im off celexa now three weeks its hell my head feels like heavy and im spacey at time and tired hopefully it don't last to long does any one know if there is some thing I can take to help the withdrawls less intense something herbal maybe
Avatar m tn First, you haven't lost any serotonin to replenish -- Celexa didn't increase your serotonin, it altered the way your body processes it and blocks its breakdown. I don't know if you stopped slowly or abruptly, but you could be suffering a withdrawal if you have a level of anxiety much greater now than that which you had that caused you go on the drug in the first place.
Avatar m tn how long does the acute withdrawal last with every reduction. Will it sneak up on me in a month?
Avatar f tn I would try to increase serotonin naturally, since Celexa is a drug which does that (selective serotonin reuptake infibitor) by taking Tryptophan supplements, exercising daily and getting bright light exposure. It might take a little time for all this to kick in, however, you will be in more control of the situation and perhaps with a better outcome in the long term.
Avatar n tn You don't say if these panic attacks and tears are new or what you're trying to treat. Why did you switch from Celexa? Did it stop working? Assuming you're saying you are suffering new problems or more aggravated problems since you began the switch, there are several factors to consider. Can't say which one is happening, only that these are possibilities.
Avatar n tn Does withdrawal from Celexa cause nausea & vomiting? I quit taking it cold turkey 5-6 days ago. While I realize this is not a good idea, it was not intentional. I called my pharmacy for a refill. They said I had no refills left and they would call my doctor for it. Unfortunately, this was over the weekend. Apparently, my doctor's office did not respond to the pharmacy's request.
Avatar n tn s office and tell them how i feel just so that i could find out how long it will last, but the idiot receptionist said (in response to the electro-shock symptoms) "what? i've never heard of that." and then proceeded to ask me if "i was only experiencing them while walking on carpet..?" !!!!!!! wow. i can't believe the insensitivity and inanity of that question...
Avatar n tn ssri withdrawal can be worse than opiate withdrawal. Doesn't have to be, but some are hit very hard by it. You seem to be one of those. Never stop these cold turkey. If you can't handle the withdrawal, go back on the last dose of Celexa at which you felt fine and taper down as slowly as you need to.
Avatar m tn The only thing i noticed is that when I got stressed my jaw would continually push open and I continued to grind my teeth long after the med was stopped. I stopped celexa again for throat surgery and this time when I stopped my jaw started pushing down and forward and I started making the full blown frowning of grimmicing. I also sometimes make a chewing motion. gets worse when i'm under stress and all goes away when I'm just getting ready to dose of to sleep.
5509005 tn?1369086312 I honestly think that, for me, the surge of anxiety is mostly withdrawal symptoms. After all, my brain is used to be on Celexa. However, the anxiety is still really uncomfortable. I guess I just want to say that I can relate. Paxiled's advice to go more gradually might be something to look into. Thank you for posting, I take comfort in knowing that someone else is good through something similar to me.
Avatar f tn Due to a very serious bout of depression 20 years ago which went on for 6 solid years, I have been on anti-depressants for that long. Celexa being the latest, since Serzone was taken off the market. In the last 14 years, I can honestly say that my life has come together full-circle, slowly but surely. I am happy and successful. I had to make several changes through this process (in terms of relationships, personal growth and thinking patterns) and I must say I feel fulfilled.
470885 tn?1326329037 First, a GP is not an expert on ssris. Even most psychiatrists haven't a clue. Second, all ssris have withdrawal problems, and although it's true Celexa has been easier on the whole than, say, Paxil, or Effexor, if you go on withdrawal websites you'll still see plenty of severe withdrawal problems. He's put you on Prozac because it's a long-lasting ssri, whereas all the others are very short lived in the body; usually they'll use liquid Prozac so they can wean slowly.
1166402 tn?1303847056 You might be experiencing withdrawal from the Celexa. Remeron is a different antidepressant that will act differently on you neurotransmitters. For example, Celexa was only inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin while Remoron is an antagonist of the 5-HT1A receptor and is most likely to affect your dopamine and noradrenaline (by affecting the adrenergic and 5-HT receptors) levels while not inhibiting the reuptake of serotonin itself as it's a serotonin receptor antagonist.
Avatar n tn Just to say that I once tapered off Zoloft and was started on Celexa - the pdoc had me do this way too suddenly and I had bad withdrawal. In my case I found that the Celexa didn't help me and I wish I had realized this sooner, I waited months until I felt really horrid and ended up back on Zoloft. May not be the case with you, but just wanted to mention the possibility as I stuck with the Celexa too long.
1154945 tn?1262238945 Talk to your shrink about it; one way to find out is to go back on the last dose of Celexa at which you felt fine. If your symptoms go away within a day it's most likely withdrawal, and taper off more slowly. Or else you can tough it out; most people do get over this, though everyone has their own speed. Fish oil is said to help some with the head weirdness of withdrawal, but won't do anything about the emotional stuff.
Avatar f tn or can i just stop and start taking the celexa, as surely i havent been on the prozac long enough to have discontinue withdrawels? the reason why i am questioning this is because i am currently signed off work and i want to get better sooner rather than later, and i dont want to annoy work off anymore than i need to , as it terrifies me the thought of loosing my job , Aswell i was wondering if anybody else here is on celexa, ? and if anybodys got good things to say about it ?
484508 tn?1290010544 How long have you been on the AD med because as you know it does take time on that one. Plus the Pot and any Substances does so much changes in the Brain Transmitter and such that it does take time to re-adjust back from the removal of drugs and such. Just keep on keeping and it will get better but it does take time. Have Patience and that is the truth.
Avatar n tn i have been taking zoloft for about 9 days 50 mg and prior to this i was on celexa i now at night sweat my heart pounds and legs shake and twitch how long does this last and is it normal?
