577285 tn?1706032371 Blood Sugar Tracker for us diabetic's out there please. It would be an invaluable tool for us to track this VITAL READING. Not only could it be based on those little log books that we all gotta carry around getting all dog eared and full of blood stains as well as getting more expensive to buy , but we could easily make a copy and bring the professional looking and easy to read Chart / Tracker to our Doctors.
Avatar n tn I went in there and searched for blood sugar readings and it came up eventually. Sorry my link didnt work again. Can't figure that.
Avatar f tn Trend, that's actually pretty cool. I know my doc tests for drugs every time and they test your blood in L&D and if you are positive they test baby and call Cps and so forth..
Avatar m tn Would checking your blood sugar level 3 hours after a meal be considered "BEFORE" OR "AFTER" a Meal.
Avatar f tn I have had T1D for 9 months now. The last week or so my blood sugar had been between 240-340 mg/dl and I can't get it to come down. What should I do?
Avatar m tn after the initial tests that discovered my condition my doctor sent me off for yet more tests something about lipids and something else plus a urine analysis. would these tests be to determine if it's 1 or 2? i've actually had symptons for many years which i never knew why they were happening but seem to be getting worse and more frequent. nausea when drinking juice.
Avatar m tn Start a written log of what you eat/drink and portion size, next to it your blood sugar levels. Test before you eat [preprandial] for a baseline measurement and then 2-3 hours after you finish your meal [postprandial]. You do have a home glucose test meter, right? By comparing preprandial with postprandial, postprandial will inform you which foods elevate your levels and which ones do not. You need to make a concentrated lifestyle change starting with foods.
Avatar f tn Usually, fasting begins at midnight for a test the next day. Your sugar by the standards of your lab states it was high on your first test. The repeat is normal. I am not sure if that was a fluke. I'd probably get it checked in another 6 months to see where you are at. This article may help you understand how blood sugar can fluctuate and when it is normal. https://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar f tn They will be changing the lingo from undetected to unqualifiable.
Avatar n tn You could work it out, I guess. Test your blood sugar. Then inject one unit of insulin and test 2 hours later to see how far your blood sugar has fallen. One unit is not likely to cause any dramatic problem. Please make sure you monitor your blood sugar closely when you are taking insulin as an overdose can be dangerous and and an underdose won't get your sugars down enough. Do you have a past log book as recommended by diabetes86? How high is your sugar?
Avatar n tn So to be certain an actual decrease or increase in viral load has taken place between two viral load tests there has to be more than a one-log change, i e allowing for a variancy up or down of half-a-log for each of the two tests. Unfortunately, this might be what has happened to you. But if you can stick it out, continue a bit longer to make certain. You did have a 1.22 log drop between baseline and week 4, so who knows? This virus is unpredictable. Best of luck to you!
Avatar n tn juleebee, Many of us can understand this situation -- either as the parent of a teen with DM or as adult who *used to be* a teen with DM ;-) It's a tough situation. Here's my take as an adult who has lived thru my teen years with DM and who has also witnessed my niece's teenage years. She also has had DM since she was very young. While it may feel futile, I'd encourage you to find a quiet time with your son to have a short (short!) heart to heart with him.
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar f tn Which results should I monitor/pay attention from the blood test results? Also, below are the HBV DNA results for two blood tests that my dad had done at two different diagnostic labs -- one before he started taking Viread & one afterward...could someone help explain the results? I notice the first test has the actual virus count -- 4,510, 3.7, and 26,248 H (pls correct me if I'm wrong).
Avatar f tn For the past few years, I get really shaky and weak and my heart pounds right after I eat. It lasts a good hour and then I feel better. I told my doctor and she did a fasting blood sugar on me and it came back fine. But I feel fine if I don't eat. However, I have to force myself to eat because the longer I go without eating, the worse I feel after I finally do. I don't have other typical diabetes symptoms. What could this be?
Avatar n tn Should I exercise before meals in an effort to bring my before-meal blood sugar down enough for it to be OK to eat something? (I do not experience low blood sugar, even when I fast for a few days).
Avatar m tn It can be diagnosed by feeding you lots of sugar and measuring your blood sugar level every half hour for several hours. If you indeed suffer from hypoglycemia, your doctor then has to find a cause that includes a damaged liver, an inadequate amount or excess of many different hormones, tumors and glandular abnormalities. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks and help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn What is your A!C? That would be what would tell you how concerned you should be with your blood sugar number. What the doctor is watching whether you need some form of insulin to keep your sugar to a acceptable level.
Avatar n tn You cannot buy insulin over the counter without a prescription, nor can you buy syringes needed to inject insulin without a prescription. So you first need to go see your doctor. I would do blood tests before each meal and at bedtime each day until your doctor's appointment and write down the numbers that you get on your glucometer.
Avatar m tn It is important to continue to keep track of your glucose levels and your diet. When you record you diet along side your blood sugar, you will be able to begin to see trends of when your blood sugar is controlled and when it is elevated. This will help you manage your diet to keep your sugars from spiking. It is time consuming, but so important to help you manage your diabetes. Please continue to monitor your blood sugar.
Avatar f tn I'm a 23 year old female, I'm obese though I have lost 60 lbs in the last year, and I have been having some symptoms that worry me. I have previously been diagnosed with PCOS. The doctor put me on Metformin and Yasmin, though I stopped taking the Metformin because it made me feel ill. That was over four years ago. At the time, my fasting blood sugar was 101, but I had eaten some ice cream at the beginning of the eight hour period. I had my fasting blood sugar tested again two weeks ago.
Avatar m tn HI 48 year old male, 5 feet 8 inches. 164 lbs. Recently had blood test , Blood sugar came back 128m/dl. Doctor has not recommended any medicines . He suggested to exercise and control the diet. Day before the test had a pasta lunch with cola and small pasta fried fish dinner with 2 drinks(alcoholic). dinner complete at 9.00pm. Also had a antidepressant for sleep. Went the next morning for test around 8.am. Is it possible for my test to be wrong given the previous days gluttony.
Avatar f tn I had to change the way I ate to keep my blood sugar more even.. avoid foods that spike your blood sugar such as grains and sugars.. A piece of whole wheat bread will raise your blood sugar more than eating a chocolate bar...I changed to a paleo way of eating and it has done a world of good for me. More energy, perfect blood sugar, blood pressure and lost weight..
194838 tn?1303428544 Do the same and exercise for a half hour. Then check your sugar. Perform these tests without medication for a day and then with medication. "Random" tests are pretty pointless. You can plan your own testing program, but you should know how much 500 mg of Metformin, for example, will drop your blood sugar after an 800 calorie meal. Once you have an idea about what is going on the number of sticks can be reduced.
