Loestrin or yaz

Common Questions and Answers about Loestrin or yaz

loestrin

Avatar f tn I hate to second guess my doctor, but I am wondering how a lower dose can do better for me than Yaz? Also, I have been extremely depressed since a month or two after starting Yaz, and I turned down anti-depressants in hopes that a new medication will help with that. Does anyone know anything about personal experiences with loestrin 24 and depression?
Avatar f tn I've not had any problems with Yaz or Loestrin 24. I'm on Loestrin right now because Yaz made me pretty low emotionally. However, I think because they are so low dose pills, they shouldn't cause such a problem. I've heard bad thinkgs about Seasonal/ique, though. I dunno. I take Loestrin continiously and haven't had an issue, I don't see why you would bother with a pill specifically marketed as "less periods" when you can have them with any.
1674462 tn?1304114750 Does anyone know if Loestrin 24 is effective for Endometriosis pain? I have constant pelvic and vaginal pain 24/7 and its HORRIBLE during my periods that I can't even get out of bed usually. My old gyno put me on YAZ continuously (with no sugar pills) for 4 months straight with no periods to see if the pain would calm down and id didn't and YAZ made me very swollen.
Avatar f tn The common side effects of Loestrin are mild nausea, vomiting, bloating, stomach cramps; breast tenderness or swelling, nipple discharge; vaginal itching or discharge; or changes in your menstrual periods, weight change, decreased sex drive etc.It is not necessary that all women will experience them. If you are anxious discuss it with your gynecologist. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn I've been on Loestrin 24 for four months now. the first 2 pill packs i had a regular period. The 3rd pill pack I had a little spotting but it wasnt a period at all. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. Now with the fourth pill pack..I never got my period, not even a spot of blood which is weird and the past few days at least..ive been experiencing stomach cramps, alot of nausea, and breast tenderness. any ideas ?
Avatar n tn Hello I started Loestrin 24Fe on March 9, 2008 the Sunday after my period started, but since I have not had a menstrual cycle and I am freaking out! I hear all of this stories regarding blood clogs in your brain because of no menstrual cycles with the pills, is this true?? I've also noticed that my sexual drive has decreased a bit and I've been a bit moody but not as bad as other's I guess!! I am also getting a lot of headaches....
737515 tn?1252552423 I have had severe anxiety problems before and they are terrible. I am sorry that you are having trouble with them & finding a birth control that works. I would NOT recommend YAZ...it's the only birth control that has had truly debilitating effects on my mood. I've experienced depression, anxiety, headaches, weird breathing/yawning side effects, you name it...
Avatar n tn I too got them a lot while on Yaz. I switched to Loestrin and still got them frequently. But they were reduced when I started wiping my vagina a few times a day with a tissue and water only in addition to bathing daily. Drying with a blow dryer after showers and keeping the area dry through the day. Salt baths seemed to help some too. You also are at higher risk if you are diabetic and have sex frequently.
Avatar n tn Administration of most combination oral contraceptives (OCs) begins on the first Sunday after or on which bleeding has started. If you have not started menstruating, 3 weeks post partum would be when you would have most likely been told to restart your BCP. Tony is correct, if you are in fact breastfeeding you should discuss with your OB/GYN a progestin only pill ( a good example would be NORA-BE TABLET) . If not here are some low dose pills to consider.
562936 tn?1216219564 Probably just a strange way your body is taking to the birth control. I take it and when I switched to it from yaz I had dark colored break through bleeding, but only lasted a few days. Call your gyno.
Avatar n tn I was on Loestrin 1/20 Fe for 2 years and it initially seemed to help the acne, but eventually it got worse. I switched to Estrostep 1/20 for 6 months and it got even worse. Then I switched to Ortho Cyclen in hope that the higher estrogen dosage would help. It has and my face is almost clear after 3 months. However, it has made me gain weight and be bloated all the time. This is not okay, so I definitely need to switch again because I cannot afford to buy all new clothes in the next size up.
993114 tn?1249429629 I think it is breakthrough bleeding. I had a month long period on Yaz and stopped it because I couldn't stand it. It was crazy. Just make sure you take it at the same time everyday. That will help regulate it. At least it does with Loestrin.
Avatar m tn I suffer from extreme migraines and take Imitrex, Zomig and meloxicam as an antinflammatory. I was prescribed Loestrin but suffered with more frequest migraines. My LH/FSH ratio is about 2.4 and I have borderline low estogen and slightly increased testosterone. What do you think I should do about the Fe and regulating my hormones to normal. On loestrin I had bleeding every other day and now that I am not on it i havent had menstruation since August almost 6 months ago.
Avatar f tn Doc, which is better and with less side effects, Yaz or Althea? I had breast tenderness issues with Yaz, but the doc said this could also happen with Althea. I have irregular menstruation.
Avatar f tn I have been with my boyfriend ever since I was 14, I started my sexual life with him at age 16. I am almost 18 now. I have been through a lot recently, losing some family members to cancer. I've had this extreme baby fever and the will to start a family on my own.
475489 tn?1223948282 hey ladies.. how are you?? lucas and i are doing pretty good.. he is now 11 1/2 weeks old and is absolutely precious! he's so sweet, we couldn't be happier.. jason and i also got married this past Sunday, so thats new news as well.. but my question is regarding my birth control.. when i went for my postpartum check up i went ahead and asked for the pill.. he put me on LoEstrin24 Fe, I"m currently still in the first pack.
Avatar m tn I recently started taking Loestrin 24. I started experiencing light bleeding during sex which lasts for a day or 2 then stops, but then occurs again the next time. It only happens during/after sex. I've never had this happen before. There was nothing abnormal when I had my check up and was given the prescription. Has anyone ever heard of this happening with this brand?
Avatar f tn She believes that I had been a little stressed this past month because we had a pet emergency, plus my job (I am a petshop associate and I am on my feet a lot) and now being off the YAZ. She said the lateness is most likely the YAZ having finally been cleared of my system. Is that true, does it take 2-3 months for a birth control pill to leave the system? Am I just being overly worried and that combined with everything else causing the lateness?
Avatar f tn I have been on lo loestrin fe for the past 4 months. This past month I had breakthrough bleeding. I've been told that breakthrough bleeding means that I am not protected anymore, but does that mean that my pills were not working for the entire month prior to breakthrough or just the time after that? Could I have gotten pregnant before breakthrough even if I had taken pills regularly? Thanks so much!
Avatar f tn Give her time to heal from the surgery and give Loestrin time to work. When Loestrin is used continuously to stop your period that is how pain is stopped.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever switched from Loestrin 24 to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo? Anybody ever gotten pregnant while on the "lo estrogen" pills? I switched from Loestrin to Ortho because I started not having periods AT ALL on the Loestrin and I had CRAZY PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS. I got a blood test but it was negative. Now I am on Ortho and am a little nervous because I've heard and read that some people have gotten pregnant on this pill. Any advice????
Avatar m tn If you asking on behalf of a female contemplating the use of the contraceptive product called YAZ or already using YAZ, please tell her that YAZ has been found to be a questionable product for birth control. By questionable , this is what I mean. I have seen commercials where lawyers are telling women who have used YAZ and have suffered severe side effects from using YAZ that they are entitled to a settlement. I conclude that the product YAZ can , in some cases, cause severe side effects.
Avatar n tn So like I said, this is aparently normal when on Loestrin. Im going to go on the generic of Loestrin, Junel Fe, which worked for me in the past and I think its 21 days of the pill and than 7 days of the "period" part. As much as I dread my period, it's a reassuring thing.
Avatar f tn I was on Lo Loestrin Fe for 10 months, and had to stop for 6 weeks because I had surgery and was required to take blood thinners. I got back on my birth control, and ended up not having a period at all. Usually I have light bleeding for 2 days on my pills, and I'm concerned I could be pregnant. My partner and I used condoms while I was off the pill, but I know accidents happen.
