Liver abscess drainage procedure

Common Questions and Answers about Liver abscess drainage procedure

Avatar n tn ) After feeling the scalple slicing open my abscess, then the doctor found a previous abscess under that one and had to slice it open as well. After all of this, it was time to begin packing the wound with this stringgy gauze filled with antibiotic by using a small pair of sissors to do it. I felt everything! It felt like he was poking the abscess with the sharp sissor and then dragging it around the inside edges of the wound. Another very painful and tramatic experience!
Avatar n tn the primary goal of a seton is to keep the tract open to allow drainage and keep another abscess from forming while the track heals closed. they can be used to cut thru the fistula, but sometimes that can create kind of a dip in the spincter that might mean ongoing leaking. I know that Remicade (infliximab) is used in CDers to close fistulas and works very well for some people (closes them within days). I think they are also having pretty good results with tacrolimus cream on fistulas, too.
Avatar n tn I recently had a non-laparoscopic appendectomy (not ruptured), in which the surgeon also found some inflammation of the colon about 2" above the appendix. This was also consistent with the pre-op pain being a bit higher than is traditional.
Avatar n tn The aim of treatment is to reduce the hypertonia, which can be accomplished by lateral internal sphincterotomy. However, that procedure may cause minor but permanent alterations in rectal continence. An alternative approach has been local application of botulinum toxin or nitroglycerin ointment, with a view to effecting a medical sphincterotomy. Investigators at the Catholic University of Rome have conducted a randomized trial of these medical interventions.
Avatar f tn I was referred to an amazing breast specialist who performed an abscess drainage procedure on me. The spots continued to appear and ooze and my breast had turned almost purple. (it felt like a fire cracker was sitting inside my breast) I was then thought to have an immune difficiency problem and was referred to an infectious disease doctor. They put a pic-line in me, in which I had to medicate myself through an IV at home for at least a month. They tested me for Lupus, TB, etc.
Avatar m tn Do this procedure at least twice a day, once in the morning when you wake up, and once in the evening before you go to bed. You may also do it for a third time in the afternoon, or when you come home from work. If your sinus infection is in your upper sinuses (sphenoid, frontal, or upper ethmoid) your results may not be as obvious on your first attempt. Don't give up.
Avatar n tn of meds/dr's, I can tell you just inflammation in throat can close up ear even from drainage/overlooked fluid/sore throat/windy day stimulates drum. Get a 'Coronal CT' & get copy for yourself on All tests. Have Tympanogram ear test (quick plug in ear for 1 min suction). That will pull un-seen fluid in ear to window. It will show 'Serous fluid' if a problem, on graph-print if there. We can all get trapped edema from lack of vent/earpop.
Avatar n tn boils are often caused by infected hair folicals. Bacteria from infection form an abscess or pocket of pus. The abscess can become larger than a ping pong ball. Boils occur in areas where there is hair chafting. the face, neck, armpit, breast, groin, and buttocks are common sites.....then it goes on to treatment with cloth. doesn't mention any serious outcomes like surgery.

Had EKG, meng, chest X-ray, neck X-ray,all done my GP came back excellent. I did develop asthma (noticeable wheezing), and bronchitis once.
Avatar f tn My husband had a 3rd procedure for stones in the bile ducts of his liver. They formed there since he has no gallbladder. 4 day's later I took him to the ER and he was admitted with sepsis, C-dif and 2 abcesses on his liver. He was in ICU 2 weeks, the first few days he hallucinated. Then he was in telementary for 1 week. He was moved to a rehab center almost 2 weeks ago. He has 2 drains in his liver that drain the infection into bags outside his body. They may be removed this week.
Avatar f tn It was a laproscopic procedure. It was on a Monday. By Wednesday my heartrate was 191 and I was in an ambulance being transported to a different hospital, for their ICU care. By Saturday I knew that I was dying. I told my mother goodbye 4 times, and I was very calm and serious. I had developed a very bad rash all over my stomach and right side. The nurses were watching it spread. By Saturday afternoon my heart began doing something strange and the nurses called the doctors.
211940 tn?1267884866 In October, 2007, I developed an extremely sore throat, accompanied by an abscess on my tonsil. At the same time, I found that I could not turn my head side-to-side, nor lift my arms forward, sideways, etc. The Sports Medicine doctor took x-rays, which turned out so poorly, he could not determine whether or not I had a hole in my rotator cuff. I was sent to rehab., whereupon I was told that the tissue in my upper arms was filled with knots, and that my shoulder joints were not frozen.
