Avatar f tn On Thursday I'm going to get the pus drainage with fine needle. Last time it was very painful even 2 times local anesthesia did not worked for me. Doctor said this happened due to inflammation. Anybody have any idea how to manage the pain. Should I take pain killers before getting it done and which one should I take? Also is it true that if we keep getting drainage done the pus will keep coming back so should we not get it done? Please share your experiences. Thanks all!!
Avatar n tn s because the infection is trapped beneath the tooth and there is no ready access for drainage, unless a hole is surgically placed to allow drainage. Sometimes the abscess is so severe that it creates it's own hole by bursting through the skin of the face to facilitate the bodies ability to remove the infection. Your vet is probably correct in wanting to extract the tooth.
1670196 tn?1306841245 I had an abdominal Hysterectomy on 4/26. I was in the hospital 3 days. I was discharged with a fever but told to keep an eye on it. On 5/5 the pain was so bad and the fever had went up to 101.6 the night before. I was sent for blood work and an ultra sound. After the ultra sound, they called the ob/gyn who sent me back to the hospital and had me admitted.
Avatar f tn I think it will be an abscess soon..have you ever had that? I wonder how it will drain by itself....I mean on what part of the skin.... Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hello, This persistent abscess that does not get cleared with antibiotics is called Parulis as this elevated nodule is actually an opening of fistulous tract from some chronic abscess either in association with tooth (periapical abscess) or gum abscess or could be sinus in your case. As I can not do physical exam hence can not say for sure about the origin of the abscess. It needs x-ray and second opinion of a dentist who can examine.
Avatar n tn Sometimes it warrants incision and drainage of the abscess. It is also an indication for tonsillectomy. So, continue with the antibiotics. Keep monitoring his symptoms, if worsening, then consult your doctor. Good Luck with his therapy. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
1670196 tn?1306841245 I had surgery (hysterectomy) on 4/26 and had to be re-admitted on 5/5. They said I had an abscess and put in a drainage tube (OUCH) on 5/7 then took it out on 5/9 because #1 it wasn't draining anything and #2 (more importantly) they said I didn't actually have an abscess. I have a hematoma that was draining vaginally (on it's own, like it was when I was admitted). On 5/5 it measured approximately 7.5 x 6.5 x 10.5 mm.
Avatar m tn After 4 weeks , one day it suddenly started leaking i mean the pus from the abscess and we got it drained and cleaned . He was given 4 more days of antibiotics on the day of drainage , moxclav and fusidin cream to apply in the area for 10 days and to keep the area clean. The place of the abscess is flat now and little redness around the whole from where it was drained . When i asked my child he said it is not paining .
Avatar n tn I get a gross taste when I yawn almost feels like pus draining throught my 2nd to last upper molar on the right side of my mouth. I have had all my teeth checked by a dentist and no abscess has been found, or anything else that would explain the drainage. I have been seeing a lot of doctors recently, none of which seem to help me out with anything. I get some dizziness, and pressure in the ears sometimes as well. I also have what feels like swelling on my hard palate.
Avatar n tn Yesterday my husband, aged 54yrs had drainage of an abscess? diagnosed following ct scan for a lump between anus and scotum which tripled in size over the previous week. Has been in pain since the May 08 followup colonoscopy which led to bleeding for 2 days, and then a month of ++ bleeding in September. Severe pain - on Tramal twice per day plus paracetamol 4 x day.
Avatar n tn The hole is a drainage hole for the infected material (blood, pus) that collects in a sort of pocket. The water was cloudy most likely because there is at least one more drainage hole on the inside of your cat's mouth that the stuff has been leaking out of. These kind of abcesses are usually started by a minor, one time injury like a puncture or scratch. Since you are only seeing blood when you clean it, it has already drained.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed about 2 months ago, and so far had one abscess drain. It started out a week ago as a very thin, watery discharge with blood, but has since turned to thicker, cloudier stuff. It has been about a week. I was on a weeks worth of anti biotic (augmentin) which has made me feel so much better...no anxiety, palpitations, night sweats, etc. but I can tell another abscess is developing. How long does the drainage typically last?
Avatar m tn Abscesses can also affect the brain, kidneys, liver (hepatic abscess), lungs, teeth (dental abscess), and tonsils (peritonsillar abscess). Inflammation surrounding hair follicles can lead to the formation of abscesses. Skin abscesses are often referred to as boils. Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general, abscesses must open and drain to improve.
Avatar f tn Please help anyone? 7 wks ago i got an abscess incision and drainage(jus next 2 anus) after being admitted to hospital it literally accured over a 3 day period with antibiotics having no effect, the insision was so small it made the packing of cavity the most painfull ordeal i have ever experienced..
Avatar m tn While I was on interferon therapy and my resistance was low, I developed an abscess on my buttock that was drained and healed. For several months now I have had pain that feels deeper in the tissue, possibly in the ischeum. It has never come to a point and there is no drainage that I can detect. I cannot see any external signs of swelling or redness. Have not been feverish recently. Could this be an ischiorectal abscess or possibly pudental nerve pain?
Avatar n tn It is often difficult and sometimes impossible to eradicate a lung abscess, without surgical drainage. As the surgeon indicated, this would be a high risk procedure but a decision against surgery also carries risk. You should seek another opinion regarding treatment of the abscess from another surgeon and/or a pediatric pulmonologist and you should request that the pulmonologist, the ID specialist and the surgeon convene to discuss the pros and cons of the available and feasible approaches.
Avatar f tn I woke up on monday morning in extreme pain and with a completely swollen top lip, stretched nose and puffy cheek. Having no idea what was wrong I went to the doctors and was put on amoxcillin (they weren't sure what was wrong as the abscess isn't visible, it is really high up under my lip and quite large).
Avatar n tn t in my post, was the first doctor also cut an artery in my liver, which was causing dead liver cells to have no where to go... I had to have a JP put in to drain the dead liver cells as well. I'm doing much better months later, but I am still in good amounts of pain.
Avatar m tn So about 3 weeks ago I had my perianal abscess drained and the healing process went quite well until about 1 week after the drainage small spots started to appear around my anus and near where the abscess was. My doctor prescribed me with a 1 week course of antibiotics which seemed to clear them up. However, more spots have started to appear but more itchy and painful and also when they burst the pain seems to ease. So are these spots anything to worry about?
Avatar f tn Sometimes Mastitis can take a long time to heal but I am glad you’ll be seeing your Surgeon soon for a follow-up, because there is a risk that the infection could lead to a breast abscess which may need to be drained surgically.
Avatar m tn shtml Modified Lothrop Procedure (Draf III Procedure) The modified Lothrop procedure, or Draf III procedure, may also be referred to as median drainage. This procedure, in its present form, was first described in the mid-1990s and has been gaining popularity among rhinologists. Indications include the most severe forms of chronic frontal sinusitis where osteoplastic flap with obliteration is the only alternative.
Avatar n tn Wondering if anyone can help me please, I've had an abscess above my tooth now for the past 2 days and I've been to the doctor today and he's put me on a course of antibiotics called ERYTHROPED A. I'm also taking Codeen to help ease the pain. The antibiotics don't seem to be doing anything at the moment, I began taking them around 6pm today when I got in from the doctor. I have two questions: Will my tooth have to be removed and how long does an Abscess usually last for?
Avatar f tn I am a 36 year-old female who has just completed yet another incision and drainage of a breast abscess. This is the 3rd time in about 2.5 years. The last time this occurred, it put me in the hospital, not fun!! I was concerned as post procedure, I've not experienced this amount of sharp pain as I am now. I have also been through 2 gauze pads that have been soaked in the past 3 Hrs. Any advice would be welcome as I am somewhat hospital-phobic due to some bad experiences.
Avatar f tn If there is an abscess, incision and drainage must be done and the specimen is sent to the pathologist for evaluation. Good luck.
Avatar n tn It can be an infected cyst or a hair follicle infection or an abscess or a tubercular abscess. You need to show this to a skin specialist and get a fine needle aspiration cytology done to find what the lump is. If it is tubercular, then it will need medical treatment for 6-9 months. If it is abscess or boil, it will need to be drained. It it is a cyst, it will need to be excised. Often doctors do a CT scan for diagnosis.
