Common Questions and Answers about Lisinopril off label uses

Avatar f tn It would be a highly unethical doctor to prescribe an ACE inhibitor off-label for a non blood pressure issue at this very early stage of the research. There is a company who has obtained an Investigational New Drug licence from the FDA for testing purposes, but any movement towards the market is likely years off. (the following link is to a press release, so reader beware) http://www.prnewswire.
Avatar f tn After reviewing the medications I was already taking (to avoid any conflicts) she recommended Lamotrigine for my intense anxiety. I am VERY familiar with off-label drug uses, but I can find no information re: the use of this drug for my situation. It is a drug used for bi-polar disorder and seizures. I thought that Atavan would be the drug of choice, and after reading more about Lamotrigine, I have become actually quite shocked about this recommendation.
Avatar n tn Though there is a good theoretical basis for the use of arimidex on endometriosis, I believe that this is still an off-label indication for the drug and the clinical basis for its use is still from phase II clinical trials (studies with still low number of patients). Until such time that the indication of endometriosis can be demonstrated in large phase III clinical trials, the use of arimidex for endometriosis is still controversial.
100019 tn?1335919717 For genotype 1 patients who cannot take interferon, the panel recommends sofosbuvir plus the HCV protease inhibitor simeprevir (Olysio), with or without ribavirin, again for 12 weeks. This off-label regimen has not been through full Phase 3 testing, but performed very well in the Phase 2 COSMOS trial.
Avatar n tn Did your doctor prescribe it to you for this? If not, STOP right now...'experimenting' with prescription medications, which are extremely addictive can NEVER have good outcomes.
Avatar f tn They all have reported feeling better daily - this off label approach is a God Send! Now I will finish out the 12 weeks - they will do the viral load test again at that time and then 12 weeks post treatment test again to declare me officially SVR!!! NO HORRIBLE INTERFERON OR RIBAVARIN THIS TIME FOR ME!!
1635208 tn?1300807160 Hi welcome to the Hepatitis C community Olysio per the prescribing information sheet is intended to be used with interferon and Ribavirin. The same applies to Sovaldi. Per prescription they are not used together. However there have been clinical trials using them together "off label" and they have been shown to be highly effective when used together. You can web search for Cosmos clinical trial cohort 1 and cohort 2 to see study results.
Avatar n tn Hi. I have had high blood pressure for years. Like really high -- 190+over 90 very often. So I'm working on taking medication but I have a question about amlodipine. I start with Lisinopril 40mg, but my doctor added amlodipine. It helps but my ankles and legs swell up really bad. Thoughts or suggestions would be helpful. thanks.
Avatar f tn Doctor recently took me off 25mg of atenenol, and immediatly placed me on 20mg of lisinopril. for one week I was dizzy, heart rate of 100 or more each morning, short of breath, very weak, and blood pressure increased gradually each day. After several complaints, he then placed me on 10 mg, and 50 mg of atenenol, is there any other beta blocker to take place of atenenol, it causes my legs to cramp and feet to swell.
Avatar f tn My doctor had me trying to wean off too quickly, so I am now using the Point of Return (Label Me Sane) protocol, which is a very slow taper of 5% per week. It also uses very good supplements to get you feeling normal before they even allow you to start the taper. The testimonials are extremely positive. Check out the Label Me Sane website if you want more information, and good luck to you. These meds are indeed terrible things.
1028452 tn?1537448484 Is neuropathic because a nerve compression or damage problem has not been found, or is cannabis like the off-label uses for pure anti-depressants? "The patient stopped complaining, so it works!" Despite the patient being too doped out to remember pains, difficulties, or otherwise have a coherant thought... Awaiting the pitchforks and torches.
Avatar n tn Lisinopril takes pressure off the heart and even eyes if a person has glaucoma. Pressure buildup in the heart can lead to further heart failure. Usually, doctors want the blood pressure to be low to take the workload off of the heart. The percent of which your heart is working, does not mean that there is less pressure in your heart. Lisinopril is an ace inhibitor and has proven studies showing that it can extend ones lifespan unlike beta blockers.
Avatar m tn Is the person having memory problems? If not, why are they taking it? There are lots of drugs that have "off label" uses for lots of drugs so perhaps it was prescribed for something else. The doctor can probably let you know what that is and why it's being used. I don't think it will hurt, but there are side effects in every med and it would be a good idea to check drug interactions, etc. Try Drugs.com. If you cannot speak to the patient's doc, can you call your own?
Avatar m tn Cardiac Enzyme test was normal and chest Xray showed no enlarged heart or arteries. My cholesterol is also slight elevated. MY bp off the Lisinopril is 145/85 and I see a cardiologist for the first time on Wednesday is it safe for me not to take the Lisinopril till then? MY kidneys are also fine and my Liver. Why would Lisinopril cause the Tach and then sudden increase. Asked a Pharmacist and he said that it is a downplayed side effect of Ace Inhibitors that it does happen.
Avatar f tn It was the lisinopril that gave me those symptoms plus a bad tickle in the back of my throat that caused me to cough a lot! I finally got off the lisinopril and I felt Waaaayyy better! Good luck!
Avatar m tn I have been taking 40 mg lisinopril for 3 months. It works on my BP but I am coughing and my nose is running.
459663 tn?1236000877 it is supposed to be a non-narcotic pain med....alot of dr's using for off-label uses...for insomnia and anti-dep. ...it does have alot of drug interactions so be careful...was on it a couple of times...no problem quitting.....all the best......
Avatar m tn Been use meth for years and recently was put on lisinopril for high blood pressure. I'm getting off meth but just can't do it cooled turkey. I've using for so long I'm scared to just quit. I want to slowly wing off but I started taking 20mg lisinopril. Is it safe to mix? I am getting off meth no matter what. If I have to not take lisinopril tell I'm off meth then I will but my bp is really high like 190/115. Dangerously high. Please let me know if it's safe?
Avatar m tn i have major depressive disorder, dysthimic disorder, and panic disorder. i am on 10 mg lisinopril daily (blood pressure), klonopin 1 mg 3 x daily, pristiq 50 mg daily, lyrica 200 mg daily, protonix 40 mg daily, and 7.5/325 mg of norco 3 x daily. I've never had performance issues until a few days ago with a new relationship that i dont want to **** up because she is a very positive and awesome person. im freaking out about being 26 yrs old and having performance issues.
Avatar m tn Over the years I am down to 12.5 Corge and off Lisinopril although my left top half of my heart remains slightly enlarged. The coreg normally lowers the HR. My HR runs 48-50 BPM. Coreg's purpose is to lower HR and help the heart squeeze more blood with each beat to keep the heart from wearing out so quickly. How many mg. of Coreg are you taking?
Avatar m tn t prove it of course. But I can tell you after getting off the Lisinopril my compulsive on-line shopping dropped off dramatically. Hah!! (Note: I don't recommend going cold turkey like I did, bp really jumped up, just find an alternative.) Currently I had to get back on something so trying the amlodipine but just started so can't say yet if that will work.
Avatar f tn thanks ng15, i will see if they are open now :P
Avatar n tn Clonidine really is an outdated medication as far as BP goes, most doctors only use it as a last resort. It does have other uses for helping with opiate withdrawals, I also have hypertension and use clonidine after I had tried other meds that didnt help my BP. I was previously on clonidine about 3yrs ago for over a year and didnt have any side effects when I switched over to lisinopril, but after it and others didnt work I was back on clonidine.
Avatar f tn Has anyone been approved for Olysio and Sovaldi off label and on Medicare? I failed traditional interferon/ribavirin, have fibrosis stage 2, and waiting for approval.
