474189 tn?1211184460 There isnt a fast cure for most chronic kidney diseases at the moment, so the treatment is mostly supportive - keep the blood pressure low, protect the remaining kidney function, prevent further damage and delay the renal failure. Lisinopril and Simvastatin is the correct direction. In my opinion, what you need to do is to 1. stick to your medication. 2. Kidney function test every 6 months. 3. Urinalysis and 24 hour urine collection every month. 4. Low salt intake and a nutritious diet.
Avatar n tn s also had 7 kidney stones in the last 5 months. Could Lisinopril and his excessive sweating be a contributing factor?
Avatar f tn Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn You should consult a cardiologist for high BP. To diagnose the cause tests like kidney function, liver function, lipid profile, thyroid, adrenal gland function, EKG, ECHO, tread mill etc are done. If no cause is found then what you have is essential hypertension. The doctor will need to adjust the type and dose of medication. This may need a few trials before a medication that suits you is adjusted at an optimal dose. Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days.
Avatar m tn Hello and thank you for your question. Sorry for the delay in response. If someone has chronic kidney issues, often ACE inhibitors is a good class of medications for treatment. https://www.renalandurologynews.com/home/news/nephrology/chronic-kidney-disease-ckd/ace-inhibitors-may-be-a-better-option-for-ckd-patients/. We recommend in your case to work with your doctor. They are not concerned about kidney disease?
Avatar f tn Since I will not see my cardiologist for a few more weeks I am wondering what the increase of Lisinopril will do for me, and what I need to watch for with sodium intake. I have been scheduled for lab work next week. Thank you.
Avatar n tn There are 5 stages of kidney function, 5 being the worst. I don't know why you have it or if you are on the right meds -- those are questions you should ask your doctor. Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is usually diagnosed by the presence of multiple cysts on BOTH kidneys as well as a family history of the disease (it is genetic). As people age, they tend to get harmless cysts but even these can grow large enough to put pressure on the rib cage or a nerve and cause pain.
Avatar m tn when you set up this medhelp user name you choose your sex and age. and you selected 20 years old and male and that doesnt match up with how you describe yourself. your profile also says your a student while you also say your a doctor. your a "doctor" you should know. your not going to get help here.
Avatar m tn A kidney cysts is basically a bag of fluid that is on the surface or interior of a kidney. These occur more frequently as we get older and are rarely of any consequence.. If the cyst meets the specific ultrasound criteria for diagnosing a cyst, then further work-up need not be pursued. These would not be expected to degenerate into cancers nor would they be expected to resolve.
Avatar f tn htm Wait for blood reports, need to assess kidney function. Also get ultrasound done to rule out any pathology of urinary tract.
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
Avatar m tn t prescribe medication to bring down blood pressure until the systolic reaches 140 or the diastolic reaches 90. The exception is for people with diabetes or impaired kidney function, and medication for anything above 130/80. That's because people with diabetes and kidney disease are already at higher risk for heart attack and stroke.
Avatar m tn There unfortunately are no good ways to pin down kidney function. End stage kidney disease sneaks up on alot of people, even ones who are being well followed by careful doctors. However, one thing you might do is get a creatinine clearance test. Again not the best of tests, but it is common and gives more informaiton than straight serum creatinine.
Avatar m tn The normal range for BUN (at my hospital) is 8.0 - 24.0. Sounds like yours borderline high on the normal range. The foam in your urine, does it manifest with frequency? it can be an indication of high level of protein in your urine. I would suggest for you to drink more water but with your heart condition that might not be the best route. You should consult with your doctor again about your kidney just to be safe. Prolong proteinuria can be harmful for your kidney.
Avatar n tn my bun is 63 and my creatine is 8.02 and im 60 yrs. old.
Avatar n tn I pretty much have the same thing. Do you have diabetes or high blood pressure? I was on Lisinopril and i ended up in the ER for the blood pressure medicine. It's called Paresthesia. They put me on something new. I feel a lot better but now I wonder if it's something else. It keeps me from sleeping and it wakes me up. Before when I was on Lisinopril sometimes it would fire in the same spot multiple times and i had problems walking. It has not been that bad since.
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
Avatar f tn I have found my blood pressure is high for a period of time (weeks) for no apparent reason. Then it goes the other way down below normal. There is no identifiable cause that I know about. I take Lisinopril (ACE inhibitor) twice a day as well as Coreg (beta blocker). You indicate your mother is taking medication once a day? There is a doctor that gives advice wseekly on TV, and he stated he has seen better results when the medication is taken at night before boing to bed.
Avatar n tn My ef at that time was 15%. I also had significant mitral valve regurgitation. I was prescribed Coreg and lisinopril. My most recent echo (May, 2010) shows ef of 20%. MVR was mild to moderate at that time. My question....when is mitral valve repair/replacement considered to improve heart function?
Avatar n tn 20%) had 12% lower risk of death or hospitalization for any reason, if placed on a high dose of ACE inhibitor like Lisinopril compared to a low dose. I would suggest that you comply with your doctor’s prescription as high doses of lisinopril significantly reduces mortality in CHF patients. I hope that helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted.
Avatar f tn I went from Stage 3 (54% kidney function -GFR) to stage 2 kidney disease (73% function - GFR). I did this by following the kidney diet really closely. It usually doesn't work that good - but it does often help you from getting any worse. I really miss my tomatoes though. They are now a 'special' treat. Stage three is moderate damage. Right in the middle of things. If you are high stage 3 than you may never need dialysis. A lot will depend on you.
Avatar m tn Yes I have checked kidney function in a kidney renal test all was normal, I'm not sure of my exact measurement at this point I will have to check on that soon. I do exercise almost everyday I try to get at least 30 mins on the tread mill uphill I walk 2 mins and jog for 2 mins so basically I jog 15, walk 15 uphill. I have posted often but I am quitting, mostly I post because of no replays or no help on my issue.
Avatar m tn Thank you for the response to my question, I was in hopes that it was no more than that, my weight has seemed to stablized since I ask this question so I feel that that was the reason for my weight loss.
Avatar n tn You can progress very rapidly to NO kidney function and be on dialysis and having to wait for a kidney transplant. And we all know how that one goes--there is a shortage of transplantable kidneys and they go to the people who have been on the list the longest. So get to a kidney doctor now!
