474189 tn?1211184460 I was recently diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease (November 2007) but my GP/Nephrologist are not very forthcoming with answers to any questions. How fast will it deterioarate presently at stage 3 (EGFR 54, with 'bi-lateral cortical scarring??), do I need to do anything about it myself. They have put me on Lisinopril and Simvastatin (despite blood pressure or cholesterol never being high ??
Avatar m tn com/home/news/nephrology/chronic-kidney-disease-ckd/ace-inhibitors-may-be-a-better-option-for-ckd-patients/. We recommend in your case to work with your doctor. They are not concerned about kidney disease? Calcium channel blockers work well for hypertension and is it controlling this for you? I would speak to your doctor regarding your concerns and if switching classes of medications makes sense in your case.
Avatar n tn s also had 7 kidney stones in the last 5 months. Could Lisinopril and his excessive sweating be a contributing factor?
Avatar n tn Does this mean I have Polycystic kidney disease, or does it just mean I have benign cysts? I take Lisinopril 5 mg daily. My doctors say that the kidneys don't hurt, but I have constant pain. Is this unusual?
Avatar f tn org/wiki/Glomerular_filtration_rate The National Kidney Foundation (NKF) published the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (K/DOQI) clinical practice guidelines for chronic kidney disease (CKD) and used the MDRD formula to classify kidney disease into five stages ranging from a GFR greater than 90 (Stage 1), GFR 60-89 (Stage 2), GFR 30-59 (Stage 3), GFR 15-29 (Stage 4) and less than 15 cc/min (Stage 5).
Avatar f tn I take 40 mg. of Lisinopril twice per day; Diovan 320mg - twice per day and Clonidine HCL 0.2 mg at bedtime. My Nephrologist wants me to take the Clonidine in the mornings also, but I cannot function - I am too dizzy and weak. I have had a stent placed in the artery leading to my left kidney and my pressure has gotten higher.
Avatar f tn Looking for good new...found out I am pregnant and am taking Lisinopril 10mg. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Avatar f tn Hi there, In stage 3 kidney disease the aim is prevention of progression of renal disease and reduce associated risks. This person needs long term monitoring of renal functions and other parameters like Hb, blood pressure, urinary protein.Proteinuria, haematuria and declining GFR are poor prognostic indicators. Such people should avoid smoking, exercise daily and adopt lifestyle changes. Blood cholesterol should be controlled to prevent risk of cardiovascular disease.
Avatar m tn So, been having this not very severe, but certainly noticeable and annoying sticking pain in what feels like my left testical since yesterday morning. I ejaculated approximately an hour prior to the onset, so am wondering if that had anything to do with it. I think I've had similar pain before, but it's always gone away within an hour or less. This has now been going on for over 36 hours.
Avatar f tn You should consult a cardiologist for high BP. To diagnose the cause tests like kidney function, liver function, lipid profile, thyroid, adrenal gland function, EKG, ECHO, tread mill etc are done. If no cause is found then what you have is essential hypertension. The doctor will need to adjust the type and dose of medication. This may need a few trials before a medication that suits you is adjusted at an optimal dose. Keep a morning evening record of your blood pressure for a few days.
Avatar n tn I pretty much have the same thing. Do you have diabetes or high blood pressure? I was on Lisinopril and i ended up in the ER for the blood pressure medicine. It's called Paresthesia. They put me on something new. I feel a lot better but now I wonder if it's something else. It keeps me from sleeping and it wakes me up. Before when I was on Lisinopril sometimes it would fire in the same spot multiple times and i had problems walking. It has not been that bad since.
Avatar m tn my echocardiogram showed dilated cardiomyopathy with ejection fraction of 10% and biatrial enlargement and elevated creatine after cardiac catherization the aortic pressure was 110/77 with a mean of 93 left ventricular pressure was 110/26 descending irregularity these were not flow limiting the left circumflex coronary artery had minimal irregularities and relatively disease free and a nondominant vessel.
Avatar m tn After questioning why I had high blood pressure and not getting any answers I asked to see another doc and he added Lisinopril 10mg and said come back in 6 months. Since then BP has been steady at 130's/40's. After bugging the doc enough about why at 32 i have to take 3 meds to keep BP under control he has finally set me up to see a kidney specialist.
Avatar m tn when you set up this medhelp user name you choose your sex and age. and you selected 20 years old and male and that doesnt match up with how you describe yourself. your profile also says your a student while you also say your a doctor. your a "doctor" you should know. your not going to get help here.
Avatar n tn t answer that for you. From what I can find about Lisinopril, it looks like it can do a good job of controlling the protein and protect your kidneys. If you can do that, your load road might be easier to take. The best thing you can do to protect your kidneys is to control your blood pressure, take ACE inhibitor medicines like Lisinopril, and continue to test regularly. You've got work to do to stay healthy, but it can be done. It sounds like you are taking the right steps. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I agree with Jon and to give you some insight: High blood pressure is anything above 120/80. However, mild elevations beyond those numbers only slightly increase the risk of significant health problems. But generally doctors don't prescribe medication to bring down blood pressure until the systolic reaches 140 or the diastolic reaches 90. The exception is for people with diabetes or impaired kidney function, and medication for anything above 130/80.
Avatar n tn immediately prescribed triamterene and lisinopril and told me to contact an internist.. But on my insurance plan, I cannot get appt for 5-6 weeks. In the meantime, I have been reading about these medications on the internet... scary.... My mother (age 89) was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardio myopathy for which she had a successful septal ablation procedure when it was still experimental, 13 yrs ago (at Cleveland Clinic).
Avatar n tn 20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S.
Avatar m tn A kidney cysts is basically a bag of fluid that is on the surface or interior of a kidney. These occur more frequently as we get older and are rarely of any consequence.. If the cyst meets the specific ultrasound criteria for diagnosing a cyst, then further work-up need not be pursued. These would not be expected to degenerate into cancers nor would they be expected to resolve.
Avatar f tn Since I will not see my cardiologist for a few more weeks I am wondering what the increase of Lisinopril will do for me, and what I need to watch for with sodium intake. I have been scheduled for lab work next week. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Lovastatin for 2 months. For the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing aching kidneys and I'm very tired. I had blood work done today for follow up of the drug and notified the doctor that I had this problem. My body temperature is 96.8, which I realize is a bit low, but perhaps normal? Could the achiness be due to the Lovastatin? I'm quite concerned about this and have had kidney problems as a child.
Avatar m tn I took Lisinopril for awhile and it had no effect on my lipids. I also started on a plant based diet and was able to discontinue the Lisinopril as BP normalized due to the diet.
Avatar m tn d really have seen it, it was so small. I think they only do a CT scan for kidney disease if you go into the emergency room with terrible pain and a sore kidney, vomiting nonstop.
