Lisinopril for high blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Lisinopril for high blood pressure

monopril

Avatar n tn t know much about heart disease or high blood pressure but let me tell you a couple things I know about this medication. Lisinopril is used to control high blood pressure and water retention. Too strong of a dosage can cause diarrhea which can cause potassium to drop low. Losartan - potassium (Cozarr) is used to control hypertension and might be a better fit for your daughters condition as the side effects are similar. I hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Welcome and thanks for the question. 210/110 is VERY high. A prescription for Lisinorpil is a good start, but her doctor really needs to be working her up to find an underlying cause and resolving that issue. I could be idiopathic meaning there is no cause, but she should be checked. She should be on the DASH diet and exercising to bring her levels down, with her doctor's approval. Having said that, it could have been high due to anxiety as well.
Avatar f tn I have been taking lisinonpril 20 mg for blood pressure going about 7 years. The recommended starting dosage of lisinopril for people with high blood pressure is 10 mg, taken once daily. Your doctor may be increasing based on the blood pressure response and consideration to side effects of lisinopril, the dosage may be increased or decreased. For most people, the normal daily dose is 20 mg to 40 mg.
Avatar n tn I am 40 year old female and was recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, around 158/104-110 on average. My doctor has put me on a diuretic, 25 mg. But it seems I am urinating less frequently than before I started taking it. Is that normal? I haven't had my blood pressure taken since starting the medication. I also started birth control medicine, Loestrogen FE and am wondering if that would be the cause of my high blood pressure?
Avatar m tn that my blood pressure reading is 180 - 91 he added 5 ml lisinopril 1 daily I was directed to measure my blood pressure daily and keep a record for the scheduled appointment (8 Dec 10)
Avatar f tn my mother had high blood pressure, doctors give bp tablet , but it casuse cough.
Avatar f tn I do have shortness of breath that internist says may be related to high blood pressure, and cardiologist says may be related to mild sleep apnea (5 is normal and mine is 7)...I need a milder blood pressure med that does not fatigue me. I am 72 yr old female. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn 20 mg in 7 am , and 20 mg Lisinopril in 7 pm (so total = 40 mg Lisinopril per day). During the day (systolic) hypertension goes 150-160 mmHg and only in 2-4pm it is 130 mmHg (and at 10-12 pm). What should be done for this patient. Maybe trying a diuretic (hydrochlorthiazid) and lowering the dose of Lisinopril? Please tell what do you think of the doses to start trying, how often and when during the day? (P.S.
Avatar m tn I have a question about high blood pressure medication. I found out two years ago that I have high blood pressure. I also suffer with ocd. I was put on lisinopril and amlodipine. Ever since I started taking these medications my ocd has been totally out of control. There are rituals and image problems that I have never had before and it's really getting worse. Does anyone here have anxiety problems along with HBP and the medications have made them worse?
Avatar n tn I recently completed a physical that indicated my blood count to be normal and I am not anemic. My blood pressure does run a bit high from time to time due to chronic back pain from lumbar fusions. It climbed to 183/132 a few weeks ago, and my Internest prescribed Lisinopril. Whne I took this medication my blood pressure then dropped to 67/47. I tried taking only a 1/2 dosage and still had the same affect.
Avatar m tn In February of 2014 I was on Lisinopril for high blood pressure, but after two weeks I had sudden heart attack like symptoms that landed me in the ER. I had several tests done including chest x-ray, chest CAT scan, blood work, EKG, Ultra sound of my heart before and after a stress test. All the tests concluded my heart was fine so they don't know what caused it. However my primary doctor took me off Lisinopril because she believed it was an allergic reaction.
Avatar f tn Mom is 87 years old and has high blood pressure (HBP) for many years, she is taking a few different medications to control her blood pressure. Her blood pressure has not really gotten better, but stable. But now, we noticed her bp is getting over 200 especially in the late afternoon or at night. Why? I am really worried. Doctor told her to take one additional Bystolic when the BP is too high. But this is not right.
Avatar f tn The doctor put me on two 10mg capsules of Lisinopril a day. My blood pressure remains high. What causes my blood pressure to remain high even on BP meds? I do not work and do not have a lot of home stress or anything like that. I do not smoke, don't drink at all.
Avatar m tn i am 41 y/0 and am taking meds for my bp (lisinopril 25mg). overweight and has a high cholesterol level. i have been experiencing pains in my left chest, somewhere below the sternum and near the nipple area. i experience frequent gerd but when i take omeprazole, it helps me do things normally. why is my systolic pressure high? am i a candidate for stroke or heart attack? thanks!
Avatar n tn If your blood pressure is above normal, it is too high. Same with your heart rate. Lisinopril is a great medication to be on when there are heart issues. Doctors start patients off at a lower dose and work up gradually to the dose that the patient should be on, so that their body adjusts to the medication slowly.
Avatar m tn Ur issues sound like POTS as it is a positional issue-check out this link. http://en.wikipedia.
Avatar m tn that blood pressure is high. I was put on Lisinopril 20 mg once a day when my went that high. I have also found that if I take triple strength fish oil (ones that have Omega -3, EPA and DHA), my blood pressure is coming down and don't have to take Lisinopril. Helps Cholesterol as well.
Avatar m tn Does 5mg really work for high blood pressure? I have never really hurd of anyone taking 5mg of lisinopril for high blood pressure. Will my body withdraw or need to adjust to a lower dose? Thank you an advance.
Avatar m tn 80/45 is really too low. Now I see its the medication really affects the blood pressure. Yes, I think the dosage is really high, she's going to see her doctor about that. I notice she is always tired and feels very fatigue very day, so that's why. I'm going to have her monitor her blood pressure more often. Thanks for the replies.
225237 tn?1333138999 In 2005 i was dianoised with high blood pressure, which in return made me have horrible anxiety. Well in 2006 i found out i was pregnant and my high blood pressure went away...totally normal. Now a few months ago I go to doc and he puts me back on blod pressure meds, which in return my anxiety has came back. I currently take 5 mg. of lisinopril. I have lost 17 pounds and st5ill working on getting some weight off. So I guess my questions are: Can my anxiety cause my BP too flucuate?
