Avatar f tn I hope that you continue to try the no-medication route. Being placed on prescription stimulants for ADHD at 6 years old and being on them for years has left me with disabling, treatment-resistant depression. This is because of the way the meds overwork the dopamine system which is responsible for not only attention but the ability to feel pleasure as well.
1288945 tn?1271972452 I don't take liquid vitamins but I still use chewables. The BEST ones I have found for me are the "Children's GUMMY multivitamin". They're called up&up (I bought them at Target). 4-6 a day and it figures out to the daiy requirements for adults. I tolerate the sugar content in them (2 gms for 2 gummy bears) and I had my surgery 9 months ago. I've been taking them for the past 6 months at least.
Avatar f tn Is it normal for the prenatal vitamins to make your stomach feel like butterflies?
Avatar n tn Trace minerals, or epsom salt baths, liquid b-complex vitamins, herbal stress pills, omega-3 (fish oil or flax oil). I have played with the doses with all of these supplements over the past 6 months and my brother has been tic free for about 4 months, he has had tics since he was 5, vocal tics since 7. It seems like the symptoms get worse and more nerological disorders apear, and next thing you know they have OCD, and ODD (oppositional defiance disorder), and they are squeeking all day long..
Avatar n tn // also check out - I believe from my years of posting on the ADHD forum, that the single most important thing that you can do is to become an expert in ADHD because you are going to probably become the single most important change agent in his life (outside of meds). You will become his advocate in school.
Avatar f tn Frankly, if she has anxiety, I would try and deal with the cause which is probably ADHD. The best way to deal with ADHD is to really understand it. One book I have been recommending to do so is the, "ADD / ADHD Answer Book by Susan Ashley. Not sure where you are getting your information for meds, but if you haven't done so, I would look into a pediatric psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD.

5757880 tn?1395578022 Hello! My son was diagnosed with ADHD in 2011 and then mild anxieties issues as of this year. We are currently waiting for an evaluation in regards to possible PDD and Asperger's (January 2014). When speaking with his Skills Trainer and Faciliator about the many battles we have regarding getting to bed and him actually falling asleep, they made mention that the doctor he will be evaluated by may prescribe him something for that.
Avatar f tn Vitamins like Omega 3, I take the chewable ones from Costco. Or liquid vitamins that you can mix with juice? Look into the gluten/wheat/yeast free diets as well. Even if your child has no allergic reactions when tested, I have found such a huge relief from brain fog and constant chattering when on a this type of diet. I have not gained back the weight after going off of Adderall, or Ritalin, but then again, I get to eat more when I eat healthy. So I'm never "hungry".

Avatar n tn m of the opinion (based on the literature about how health care providers make errors) that diagnosing a person with a neurological disorder like ADHD should be done with both a thorough diagnostic interview and some objective data collection. The symptoms of ADHD can occur for many reasons, and ADHD in adults is highly likely to co-occur with anxiety and depression.
