Lipitor withdrawal effects

Common Questions and Answers about Lipitor withdrawal effects

lipitor

Avatar f tn I have been resisting the diagnosis for quite a few years but have been experiencing severe pain for the past couple of weeks and just want any pain killers that can give me relief. I am wondering if stopping the drug Lipitor could be exascerbating the problem. My symptoms sound like those caused by taking lipitor but I'm wondering if going off of it could be a form of withdrawal? Any insight would be most helpful.
Avatar n tn I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.
10996785 tn?1432812977 No one told me about lipitor side effects. I literally felt like my body was freezing up. When I Googled it, they referenced ALS like symptoms. This really blew my mind. (spill the wine). They say it may take a month or longer to feel a little bit better. The blood work being ok is a big thing all of a sudden. I have a low grade side effect. I'm weaning off trazodone now, next neurontin, then nortripyline. Maybe. Better days ahead. Maybe...
Avatar m tn Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. A week later he gave me some samples of Crestor.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.
Avatar f tn The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.
Avatar n tn However, through exercise he developed calaterals around his 100% block LAD artery. He has been on Lipitor since initial MI and had the dose increaed since last angiocather test 3 years ago. He is 67 and has increasing fatigue, weight loss and muscle tone decline. He is able to work (farmer) but is increasinly fatigued. I want him to stop the Lipitor. Am I correct? This discussion is related to <a href='http://www.medhelp.
519736 tn?1253986826 My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.
Avatar f tn Lipitor comes with a leaflet which explains the medication. It explains how it works, how to take it, when to take it and the side effects. I believe it mentions that one side effect which is rare, degenerates muscle tissue and this causes permanent damage. I'm not sure if this is the case with your husband, but surely your Dr can let him stop taking Lipitor for a week or so to see if he recovers. Cholesterol levels do not rise or lower swiftly.
Avatar m tn I have driven my total Chol down to about 110 and LDL to about 50 by diet (plant based and no oils), in combination with the lipitor and it seems it would be logical to test coming of the 5 mg lipitor for a short period and see if there is an effect on the upper back pain and also check lipids to assess how much of my change is due to lipitor vs diet.
Avatar n tn I have been taking lipitor 20MG for 2 1/2 months now and i havent had any problems....

Avatar f tn Hi I recently started taking Crestor for high Triglycerides but it was not agreeing with me. I was depress and getting pains all over my body.. My doctor put me on Lipitor , after three days, started feeling depress and started having pains in my left foot. The pains are bearable but it is if I over did exercise and it hurts constant.. Avatar n tn It's normal and those numbers are not really high. A couple things, first off doctors don't get too concerned until these get over 300. Also, statins have been show to be harmless to the liver. In fact, the FDA no longer recommends that doctors do additional blood tests to check for effects of a statin on the liver. Ask you doctor when they would like to retest.
Avatar m tn You may even call your pharmacy, they will be more qualified to answer. Remember, Lipitor is much stronger and usually will have more side effects and much depends on why you got off it in the first place.
Avatar n tn ve been on niaspam and my dr. thinks I should change to lipitor because of the new drug studies on lipitor. I am a perfect weight, and i'm 63 with no incidents of heart attack but my arteries do show significant arterilosclerosis. I feel healthy and seem great so far! any advice appreciated.
10996785 tn?1432812977 Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabdamolysis<sp? That spelling isn't even close.
Avatar m tn Final question is because i have such bad side effects from HBP meds to you think I will be able to bring my bp down with a lot of cardio and diet? my bp ranges from 138/100- 155/110. I also take lipitor and was wondering if Burning of the back and chills is a reaction to it? Thank You guys!
Avatar m tn Reason I ask is that I have been taking Lipitor since November H.A. and Stent, 10 mgs at first and now 5 mg at night, just before bed time, and since i started taking them, on the 10 mg dosage i had deep lovely surrealistic dreams about all kinds of things, like a movie in my brain every night, fell joyful and happy upon waking, and now with the 5 mg dosage, breaking pills in half as per doctor's orders, I still have very vivid dreaming all night long. I love it.
Avatar n tn My understanding is that the statins with the greatest LDL reducing effect are Crestor, Lipitor, Zocor, and Pravachol, in that order. I don’t mention Leschol and Mevacor since they appear to be rarely used since recently due to the aforementioned being more powerful. Do we have any available solid data on the effects of the various individual statins other than LDL reduction? For example, do we know which ones raise HDL the most? What about effects on particle size or Lp(a), etc.
