Avatar f tn Homechef. I started lipitor December 2015. Had some issues with my IBS then but also had extreme fatique and weakness then in June of this year all hell broke loose. Horrible gastric issues almost debilitating weakness, legs feel like cement blocks. Have had 2 er visits with one ending in stress test for near syncope episode. My PC has now decided it is probably my lipitor I was on creator for two years with no issues. This lipitor is the devil. Praying that my body is healed soon.
10996785 tn?1432812977 LIPITOR (atorvastatin calcium) tablets are not for everyone, including anyone who has previously had an allergic reaction to LIPITOR. It is not for those with liver problems. And it is not for women who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant. If you get pregnant, stop taking LIPITOR and call your doctor right away. If you take LIPITOR tablets, tell your doctor if you feel any new muscle pain or weakness.
Avatar f tn You have a higher chance for muscle problems if you are taking certain other medicines with Lipitor. Especially telling if there are muscle problems like weakness, tenderness, or pain that happen without a good reason, and if your husband also has a fever or feel more tired than usual. I was on Lipitor, but went on Simvastatin 20mg (much less expensive, too) and the results have been very good. Recent blood test shows LDL 45 and HDL 58, trig 55 and chol 114.
Avatar n tn My pressure was at 193/82 and 187/85 when I awoke with these symptoms. I currently take lipitor, synthroid, atenenol and furosamide. There has been no adjustments to these since increasing minoxidil. My diuretic is taken at the same time w/minoxidil at 6:30 am and again at 6:pm. My answer from the doctors office to my symptoms was to let it take it's course for another week.
Avatar m tn I was told by the local health food store owner, customers will go on Red Yeast Rice once diagnosed with high cholesterol-then take the product over a month, or until the bottle is finished, have blood work done and as she said, the bad cholesterol number is lower. I do have a heart murmur. I've been taking Atenenol for over ten years now, I've been told - since it's a beta-blocker, this is probably why I almost never feel my heart murmur.
Avatar n tn I have noticed that my Lipitor bottle suggests that it should be taken during the evening meal. What is the reason/advantage of this timing?
Avatar f tn 9% with pravastatin (Pravachol), 14.9% with atorvastatin (Lipitor), and 18.2% with simvastatin (Zocor). And you have been on both atorvastatin (Lipitor) and pravastatin (Pravachol). Once you stopped taking statin, the pain and aches should resolve. However, for some patients, it may take up to 2 months for symptom resolution.
Avatar m tn 80mg of zocor then after blood work 8/3/11 switch to 40mg of lipitor. Now 80mg of lipitor.
Avatar f tn Is the Lipitor doing damage to his joints as well as causing pain? Is there any other medication with less side effects?
Avatar m tn You can take the Lovastatin and still experience the same results that you would with Lipitor. The key to lowering your cholesterol is increasing your exercise, and decreasing the fat in your diet. Eat Cheerios and oatmeal, they can also help lower cholesterol. Hope this helps!
10996785 tn?1432812977 Yes, I agree with you from my perspective as far as Rhabdomyolysis goes Lipitor is probably the worst of the bunch. But Vytorin, that I took afterwards, has it beat, at least in my case, because I wound up in the E.R. with kidney problems - the pain was just unbearable. Although it brought my total Cholesterol down from 265 to 160. Although my Cholesterol is high now for the last three years after giving up on Statins altogether after a brief encounter with Crestor.
Avatar n tn Has he talked to a doctor about his symptoms, and has blood been drawn to determine if there are adverse reactions with the Lipitor? I'm 67 also, had a heart attack nine years ago, but have a lot of stents in between, so your husband and I have lots in common! I also recently experienced increase fatigue, some unintended weight loss and I'm short of breath, and a stress test last week indicated new blockages, I'll see the doc next week to see what's next for me.
Avatar n tn When my insurance, years ago, would not cover Zocor any longer, I was started on Lipitor..both of which I was taking 60mg a day. The lipitor caused my severe muscle pains and aches and raised my CPK levels, to the point I would be in tears by the time I left work each day. Doctor was able to convince the insurance company to, once again, cover the Zocor. My lipids, triglycerides, and over-all cholesterol levels remained abnormal for years, even with proper diet, exercise, and statins.
Avatar n tn t know if I would start with Lipitor right now as your real issue is your TGLs which should be under 150. You could take a fenofibrate to help control that along with diet. Your LDL is borderline, but below the guideline of 130 unless your doctor feels you are a high risk for heart disease which means your LDL should be under 100.
678451 tn?1226425977 I have just started on Lipitor for what has been determined to be a genetic predisposition to High Cholesterol level. The physician wishes that I be maintained on 10 mgs. daily. However the Rx. was written for 40 mgs, to take one half tablet every second day(since the cost of procuring the 40 mg tablet is significantly lower). Will taking 20 mgs every second day give me the same benefit of 10 mgs daily. Or, is it best to take the medication daily as oppose to every second day.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Lipitor for high cholesterol in 1997. In 2001, following a sleep study, I was found to have restless leg syndrom and prescribed Sinemet for the symptoms. Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet.
Avatar f tn She finally started to do some research on Lipitor and immediately stopped taking it. With everything that has been discovered about that drug......I'm surprised it is still being used and on the market. It breaks down muscle tissue and sometimes the damage is not reversable. My sister went to see a local lady at our health food store. She put her on a regimine of Vit C (for inflammation), Flaxseed and something else. When my sister went back to her doc, they retested her cholesterol.
Avatar n tn People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.
Avatar n tn I started thinking back, since menopause, I started on several meds, on of which was lipitor. Not one doctor said it could be the lipitor i was taking causing the hives. On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??
Avatar m tn //www****.com/ds/lipitor/hair%20growth%20abnormal/ My question is, has anyone else taking Lipitor experience this? How do you stop this 'hair growth' ? Is there an alternative to Lipitor? Thank you!
Avatar f tn My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?
Avatar n tn Thirteen liver failure cases and nine deaths were linked with Lipitor. In response, the FDA has recommended the addition of warnings to statin package inserts about the possibility of liver failure.
Avatar n tn I had to come off of Lipitor after one week due to severe muscle and joint pain. My mother had moderate pain after starting Lipitor. We were both encouraged by our separate physicians to take coenzyme Q10 with the Lipitor. While my pain continued, my mother's pain has almost completely disappeared.
519736 tn?1253986826 My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.
Avatar f tn Interesting! My insurance policy give me a cost reduction for simvastatin with the exclusion of Lipitor. My doctor wanted me on Lipitor; this occurred about 6 months ago. Hope it works out for you. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am not familiar with Lipitor, but I did google it, side effects of taking it r muscle pain....fibro has a tender point test and is the result after ur dr has eliminated other conditions that share the same symptoms...see the health pages to the right of the screen...scroll down......ur best bet would be to see ur dr.
