Hi I recently started taking Crestor for high Triglycerides but it was not agreeing with me. I was depress and getting pains all over my body.. My doctor put me on Lipitor , after three days, started feeling depress and started having pains in my left foot. The pains are bearable but it is if I over did exercise and it hurts constant.. My dr told me to come off the Lipitor, so what should I take.?.

You can google the warnings and side effects of that one. I also take Tricor for my hyperlipidemia. But that is a fenofibrate, not a statin. Have you ever tried the grandfather of statins, Lipitor? Talk to your doctor and get the straight answers.

I have tried a lot of meds for this condition, have taken advicor,lipitor,crestor,zetia,tricor,provastatin,niaspan,gemfibronil. I have been on lovaza (omega 3,and 6 ) for the pass five months, but as you can see it has not helped very much. Heart doctor says I have taken the limit. All of these choles meds causes me to ache in my muscles very very bad, and dr. says this could be a serious situation. I need to know from someone please what can I take now ?. I need very bad to be on some med.

I have CAD, one stent. I'm on Lipitor 20mcg daily. Three cardios tell me it not only helps cholesterol but inflamation of the artery, the inner wall of the srtery , and to prevent clots. NONE of this information appears on Lipitor's website, nor on the information sheets with the medicine, nor on Pfizer's websites. If it's true why don't they broadcast it? Can we believe it?

Is Lipitor as effective as Tricor in lowering chlorestrol. Significant difference in price? How about Lopid as well?

ve been on niaspam and my dr. thinks I should change to lipitor because of the new drug studies on lipitor. I am a perfect weight, and i'm 63 with no incidents of heart attack but my arteries do show significant arterilosclerosis. I feel healthy and seem great so far! any advice appreciated.

Fenofibrates in my experience do have side effects especially if prescribed together with Statins ( Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor are some of the brand name statins). Check drugs.com for drug side effects and interactions.

We both - husband and wife, have been experiencing these symptoms. We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's.

Wow, I wasn't aware of Tricor causing elevation of blood sugar. Seems I need to research Tricor a bit more.

High cholesterol runs in my family so even with diet and exercise my numbers are still a little high. I started getting heart palpitations a few years ago and after a lot of testing was told they were harmless PVC's/PAC's. Well, I stoped taking my Tricor and Zocor for a few months and my heart palps were gone. The problem is that my cholesterol numbers went back up. I started back on the statins and low and behold the palps returned.

My Asthma Dr. said that he would consider changing from Lipitor 5 mg to Crestor (dosage not yet mentioned) after 1 more blood test. 3 years ago another dr. suggested a change, but cardiologist said no need to. Another Dr. (forum) suggested using, in addition to Fish oil for tri-glycerides, niacin. And he said statin users should take CO-enzyme Q 300 mg.

I am on a lot of medications 1 plavix 2 cardizem 3 lipitor 4 tricor 5 lovaza 6 aspirin 7 gabapentin 8 zocor 9 prevacid 10 spirvia 11 perocet for the nerve pain. Is there a certian medication you were talking about. I have had several conversations with my heart and family doctor about these pains and pressure and it seems to fall on deaf ears. Can this cause me more health problems if it continues and nothing is done about it.

I had always said no to statins in the past because I had infectious hepatitis (not any type C, caught it from my younger brother) as a child and feared I had liver damage from that. But when the doctor called after that test I decided I would try Tricor. (fenofibrate I think is what it is) I took it for a month, then stopped, then again a month later took it for a month. Then stopped again. My brother jumped all over me this year and is forcing me to take it.

Hey everyone, are any of you on synthroid and on Tricor? If you have been reading my posts you will have seen that I have been having problems with shortness of breath and palputations, Thinking it was my synthroid I started adjusting my dose. t even touch it.i use nitro and after 2 or 3 it relieves it i am on alot of meds plavix,cardizem,lovaza,lipitor,tricor,aspirin,nitro. i was told by my gp that they may have damaged a nerve i have had 2 femorl nerve blocks that didn't give me any relief with the last being yesterday the doctor that did this said he didn't think it would help. what do you do when your in severe pain. i have a big knot in my right femoral artery please help me get some ansewers.

Its particularly worse combined with tricor. The pain actually feels like its in my bones at the joints. I have taken tricor for almost 20 years and I just started having this problem about 6-8 months ago. The pain in the morning makes me feel like I am 100 and my body is betraying me! This is what I noticed that changed. I initially started off on the brand name fenofibrate, Tricor - had no problems. Then they added Crestor(name brand) because that was the only people that made it.

The meds I take for thyroid, reflux, heart disease and high blood pressure are synthroid, metoprolol, lisinopril, plavix, aspirin, lipitor, tricor, folic acid and nexium. I've been taking simvastatin and Tricor for years without issue. Are you sure you were on a fenofibrate or a fibrate? There are some issues when using a fibrate along with a statin but the side effect incidence when combining a fenofibrate and statin are extremely low. Being a diabetic is also an issue with the use of a fenofibrate as the combined therapy does not appear to be any more effective than a statin alone.

I'm a 40 yr old man on a variety of meds - Lipitor, Tricor, Amlodipine and Metformin (I am not diabetic, I was prescribed the Metformin to help with a weight loss program). I also take 3000 mg of fish oil a day along with 1 baby aspirin. With the meds my numbers have all been good - I've also lost a total of 35 lbs since January - lost 25 in the 6 months between Jan. and June, plateaued, then lost another 10 between August and now. Down to 280 from a high of 316.

Could B12 deficiency cause racing heart beat that skips a beat (currently taking Flecainide and Toprol to control that), headaches, dizziness, depression, irritability, mood swings, loss of sex drive, joint pain, and insomnia? No swelling, no tightness of chest, no shortness of breath. Cath showed that I have no blockages of any kind. I am currently on Coreg and Prinivil, tricor, lipitor, baby asprin. Know I am on a heart monitor for thirty days and on a portable difibulator for two months until they decide wheather I need a pacemaker/difibulator. My brother and I both have this and it is totally under control with meds for both of us. My triglycerides were over 2100 before I started taking Tricor. My brother takes Tricor and Lovastatin. Both of us now have normal readings.

There is a very potent medicine in the drug class known as fenofibrates, named Tricor that was created to specifically reduce triglycerides. It works great, but carries the same warnings as statins. Also, Tricor should not be taken with statins but sometimes is in very extreme cases of total high cholesterol and triglycerides. My total cholesterol at the time was 486.
