I am 25 male and been on lipitor 20mg for almost 2 months. No side effects.

Abby, call your doc and make an appointment to follow-up on the problem. Lipitor can cause diarrhea in individuals. Your doctor should be able to give you a hand in figuring out if this is a side-effect of the medication and whether you need to switch to another medication that hopefully will not cause diarrhea.

I'm 54 years old, female, with mild hypertension (controlled by low dose of Losartan) and hypothyroid (also controlled by meds; Armour) plus GERD (I take rx Prilosec.) Since my 30's my total cholesterol has been creeping up, but my HDL was always good (70) so my doctor always told me I didn't need statins. Well, last year, my cholesterol hit almost 300. LDL was high (over 150), tryglicerides were okay, and HDL was excellent.

So, I have no idea about my present liver condition at all. I asked the doctor last December about some side effects I had, but he told me that these effects will gone when Pegasis treatment is over. But I still feel them. Isn't there any of liver support medicines are present to maintained my health? Is it really so important to continue taking Lipitor and Folbee tablets? I have since taken my self off lipitor and have been off it now for ten weeks. I am much better but still not totally back to normal. This is potentially and dangerous drug. I have no knowledge of these medications, but did look up side effects of statins. If it does happen to be a side effect, how long should he wait to see if this pain resolves itself after stopping the lipitor....any help is appreciated.

Thank you for your input. I should say the clinic did give me the simvastatin first but then switched to Lipitor. They themselved said it was better. I've heard of Lipitor going generic in a few years - maybe that influenced their decision to switch patients now. I just can't understand how they can override the cardiologist without any chance of appeal. I will speak to him again and see if he thinks he should intervene.

I heard too many people suffered quite a few bad side effects from that medication. My brother-in-law also suffered from muscle pain while on it.

There are other drugs and each and every one has basically the same side effects BUT not all are always experienced by every person ... also many even though a factor, are not experienced to the same degree. You might take this up with your Oncology Team in detail. You should remember though that this may be totally unrelated to Arimidex or any other aromatase inhibitor. Regards ....

I was on medication in and out as I develop side effects to the statin drugs. I was on Lipitor, then on Pravachol and lastly on Crestor. None of them had problems loweting the Choesterol levels, but muscle and joint pain even with Vit D and Co Q10 as prescribed my physician. However, I came off crestor yesterday as I started feeling Dizzy. I am normally a "healthy", active energetic person. Now my doc thinks we should try Zetia which is in a different family of drugs.

I am not familiar with Lipitor, but I did google it, side effects of taking it r muscle pain....fibro has a tender point test and is the result after ur dr has eliminated other conditions that share the same symptoms...see the health pages to the right of the screen...scroll down......ur best bet would be to see ur dr.

This is the exact same thing as a Statin without the dangerous side effects. In fact, it is the main ingredient in Lovastatin, but, the labs have not had a chance to ruin it, therefore, it is safe. I would try this and see how it works, it might be the answer you are looking for.

i have just changed from Crestor to Lipitor and back again. No side effects. Why are you taking statins? You have a heart problem? What are ast and alt? I've been on stats for four years wnd never heard of them.

Hi,I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism with tsh 463 UU/ML 1month back and cholesterol 10.3MMOL/L and was asked to take euthyrox 100mg and lipitor 20mg daily.I had taken hypo tablets correctly and strict diet but cholesterol tablet I took only for 10days as heard abt side effects.after 1month tested again and now cholesterol is normal but my tsh levels have come down to 0.1 uIU/ml which is hyperlevels and doctor reduced dose to 100mg for 6 days a week and to continue lipitor.
