Has he talked to a doctor about his symptoms, and has blood been drawn to determine if there are adverse reactions with the Lipitor? I'm 67 also, had a heart attack nine years ago, but have a lot of stents in between, so your husband and I have lots in common! I also recently experienced increase fatigue, some unintended weight loss and I'm short of breath, and a stress test last week indicated new blockages, I'll see the doc next week to see what's next for me.

Taking Lipitor, Niacin and baby Aspirin 81mg to control cholesterol! Recently took a blood test and noticed elevated Creatine PhosphoKinase at 268! I exercise, diet and take medications mentioned as part of an overall plan to control cholesterol and blood pressure! Is this elevated CPK of 268 something to be concerned about! What is considered a dangerouis level of CPK?

my bp ranges from 138/100- 155/110. I also take lipitor and was wondering if Burning of the back and chills is a reaction to it? Thank You guys!

I was prescribed Lipitor for high cholesterol in 1997. In 2001, following a sleep study, I was found to have restless leg syndrom and prescribed Sinemet for the symptoms. Over the years the symptoms increased, and I now have severe lower back and neck pain, joint pain (especially knees) and my RLS has become more pronounced. I now have the symptoms beginning much earlier in the day, so have had to increase the use of Sinemet.

I went thru this core shaking prior to being diagnosed with anxiety and depression. My doctor said I had so much stress pent up and this was my body's way of releasing it. It felt like I started shaking from the inside out. Stress can do so many things to you, from feeling like you're having a heart attack, to feeling like you are dying. It sounds like you've been checked out pretty good, but I would see an Endocrinologist.

Hey, Statins have been linked to ALS - especially Lipitor. But, of course, they don't let that info out because Lipitor is one of big Pharma's best cash cows. I was on Lipitor and had a reaction to it. Now I have ALS/MS symptoms (undiagnosed). Red yeast rice is no better for lipid control since it too is a statin - a natural one.

I started thinking back, since menopause, I started on several meds, on of which was lipitor. Not one doctor said it could be the lipitor i was taking causing the hives. On my own a week ago, I stopped the lipitor and the lipitor only. For the first time in 5 yrs i have no more hives. Why is there not more articles published or side effects like mine posted for lipitor??? What is your feeling on the hives from Lipitor??

The doctor then asked about my lipitor. She told me that lipitor has a bad side effect that can permanently damage muscles in your body, that can lead to kidney failure. I'm not saying Lipitor is bad. It does have this side effect that can effect a small amount of people. However, I without a doubt, feel as if this is my problem. Lipitor and Trazodone have combined to almost stop me in my tracks. I realize that some people may not like the talking about lipitor in this way.

My husband was recently taken off of Lipitor and has been experiencing daily headaches. He's not a headache person. Is this a common thing when coming off Lipitor? Also, I have read that you should stop it gradually. Is this true?

I have just started on Lipitor for what has been determined to be a genetic predisposition to High Cholesterol level. The physician wishes that I be maintained on 10 mgs. daily. However the Rx. was written for 40 mgs, to take one half tablet every second day(since the cost of procuring the 40 mg tablet is significantly lower). Will taking 20 mgs every second day give me the same benefit of 10 mgs daily. Or, is it best to take the medication daily as oppose to every second day.

Hey guys. I post in different communities here. I know that it's known that lipitor has the side-effect of muscle tiredness and aches. Has anyone else have to deal with this? Man it's off the hook. I almost am paralyzed fro, lipitor. This horrible and I would like to talk to someone who's been through it. This is a very under-rated affliction IMO. I've been tested and it doesn't look like I have the Rabadolosis<sp? That spelling isn't even close.

clearly above normal... doctor advised him t leave the use of lipitor. my question t you is ... by leaving lipitor will the count decrease?? or what should be done?? and is it possible that he gets infected with HCV by the use of lipitor, is it possible? how far has his liver been damaged?? waiting for your answer :(((( m really worried!! ..thank you in advance.

People taking lipitor are recommended to avoid alcohol in their diet because it raises the triglyceride levels, another lipid which is a risk factor for heart disease. Going to soft drinks would be far more beneficial for your body obviously but if this is impossible I would switch your lipitor to the mornings. Lipitor, unlike some statin drugs, can be taken any time of the day.

I've been on 10mg lipitor for about 2 months. In the pst 4 weeks, I have experienced an almost once-a-week swelling in my lips and face...first time lower left, 2nd time, entire upper, 3rd time lower right, 4th time, entire right side of my face and finally, yesterday, entire left side of my face from upper lip to just below the eye. Cardiologist told me to get off drug for 6 weeks to see if anything else is causing swelling.

My husband was prescribed generic lipitor about a year ago. Prior to this he was advised to use Slo Niacin. When he began the lipitor, his dr. did not tell him to stop taking the Slo Niacin. He has been taking them together daily. Last week he experienced more frequent, loose bowels, but did not feel "sick"..This went away and he started to have muscle pain in the chest and upper back and his legs..that began 3 days ago. The muscle pain is preventing him from getting any sleep.

I have been taking Lipitor for the last 10 years and lately I have developed muscle pains. I was told the pain might be because of the Lipitor. I stopped taking them for a couple of months, the pain was much less however my cloestrol level was back to 290. I would appreciate any insight or suggestions.

Each new statin he tried gave me anxiety. Finally we tried Lipitor and I had no problems. I have been on 10 mg of Lipitor now for nearly 7 years with no problems. My insurance will no longer cover Lipitor. My doctor prescribed Pravacol and after 3 doses, I had an anxiety attack. It subsided when I stopped the medicine. Last year I went off of this med because when I was hospitalized for something else they discovered that my liver enzymes were high. I'm still off lipitor and my enzymes flutuate from high normal to high. I'm wondering if the lipitor did damage to my liver. Also, I have some neurological issues which includes my muscles. The free clinic I go has switched me from Crestor to Lipitor even though my LDL is very high. It's a thorn in my side and won't budge even with Crestor. The cardiologist was even talking about adding another medicine to fight it. When I mentioned this to the clinic they told me every couple of years they switch drugs. So basically they can't afford to care about exceptions.

I am wondering if stopping the drug Lipitor could be exascerbating the problem. My symptoms sound like those caused by taking lipitor but I'm wondering if going off of it could be a form of withdrawal? Any insight would be most helpful.

My doctor tried several other replacements but all brought on anxiety until I tried Lipitor. I have been on Lipitor since then and it has been working quite well. My medical insurance company stopped covering Lipitor and my doctor has been trying to find a suitable replacement. First, I was prescribed Pravacol which brought on a strong anxiety attack after taking it for 3 days. I was then given Crestor.

Reason I ask is that I have been taking Lipitor since November H.A. and Stent, 10 mgs at first and now 5 mg at night, just before bed time, and since i started taking them, on the 10 mg dosage i had deep lovely surrealistic dreams about all kinds of things, like a movie in my brain every night, fell joyful and happy upon waking, and now with the 5 mg dosage, breaking pills in half as per doctor's orders, I still have very vivid dreaming all night long. I love it.
